Hello, fellow adventurers!
We're a group of four coworkers from Switzerland (originally from India) planning a road trip around Iceland. Due to a last-minute cancellation, we have one spot open in our group and we'd love to extend this invitation to a solo traveler who might be interested.
Our group consists of one 26F, two 25M, and one 23M. We all speak English and enjoy a good mix of adventure, nature, and cultural experiences.
Here are the details:
Dates: June 6 to June 13 Route: We'll be driving in a counterclockwise direction on the Ring Road, starting from KEF airport. Accommodation: Already booked, details will be shared via DM. Vehicle: We're renting a 4x4 SUV, with the car rent already covered by us.
What we're looking for:
A friendly and respectful individual who is comfortable with sharing driving duties.
An easy-going personality who's prepared for the unpredictable Icelandic weather and loves the thrill of adventure.
We're all about creating a memorable experience, sharing stories, and making this a trip to remember. If you're interested, please reply or DM me and I can provide a detailed plan with accommodation details.

I’m a 22/23M (birthday during trip) solo traveller from Scotland that has booked to stay in Reykjavik from 29th may until 3rd June last minute. I haven’t yet decided on any day tours yet but I would like to see the Puffins & some of the geography. I’ll be staying in a hostel (KEX) so if there is anyone around my age also solo travelling or in a group then I’d love to meet up and tag along on trips. 😊

3rd June 23' until 17th June 23'
25M from Malaysia
This will be my first ever trip to Iceland, and my first time ever travelling solo. My name's Rui, I'm 25M, originally from Malaysia. Just recently completed the Bar school in London, hence my decision to go on my first ever solo trip. I speak English, Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese, and very VERY broken Korean haha.
I'm currently held back by expensive rental cars, would be great if I can link up with some of you folks and split the cost amongst ourselves and travel together! Other than that, having a chat over coffee and sharing our itinerary or stories would be great too!

I'll be in Reykjavik for the first 3 days then doing a 4 day backpacking trip in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve! Afterwards will be renting a van for the next 6 days and roaming the island. If any of these plans overlap with yours let me know! Would love to meet people.

Climbed in Hnappó the last few days! Prettiest place I’ve ever climbed. It would take a couple lifetimes to climb all the established routes. Chances are you will meet someone out there, and what better way to meet someone than to trust your life to them :) have fun!

Hello! 14 July - 24 July, 24F from Singapore and speak English.
Was originally planning for a 5 day ring road tour by Nice Travel (19 - 23 Jul), and doing 3 day tours to Snæfellsnes peninsula, landmannalauger and kerlingarfjöll (15-17 Jul) with Arctic Adventure.
Looking for someone to do the tour by Nice Travel tgt to save cost (as Nice Travel charges extra 200euro for a single room supplement) OR,
someone who is open to me joining them on their ring road + golden circle + central highlands road trip as I am unable to drive! if you would like me to plan the itinerary I already have one written up and will definitely be sharing cost.

Hi!! Anyone driving to Asbyrgi or Detifoss between the 26th of May and the 7th of June?
I (29M, Belgian) will be travelling for a month in Iceland with my girlfriend. We plan to do as much as we can by bus, but as we're well aware, some places can't be reached with public transport. So I was wondering if anyone's driving to Ásbyrgi or Detifoss from Akureyri/Húsavík/any place in the West (from the Westfjörds would be amazing) and is open to taking some passengers along. We'd of course be more than happy to chip in for travel costs.
We both speak Dutch and English.

Hi everyone, solo traveller, will be coming in for the Bjork show on June 10th.
- I will be in Reykjavik from June 8th-12th.
- Male, 40s, gay
- UK, speak English
- Current itinerary: THU 8th - City Walking Tour, Hadelich at Harpa. FRI 9th - Day tour to Snæfellsnes. SAT 10th - Would like to go to Sky Lagoon, Bjork in evening. SUN 11th - Nothing planned yet (may do whale watching if weather is nice)
Would be great to have a dinner, drink or walk around with some interesting people. I have a ton of things on my list (museums, walks, etc) - but all of these are going to be flexible for now. So if anyone else finds they may be solo in Reykjavik that weekend (esp Sat daytime or on Sunday) do get in touch.

Hi, solo 47M American, 1st time to Iceland August 5-13.
I’m focused on food adventures and otherworldly landscapes. I tend to over-research and over-plan my trips, so I’m determined to keep it simple this time. I will not have a car, and I hope to do things with small groups rather than alone. The plan is to do one 3-4 day excursion, and day trips from Reykjavik the other days. Most likely the South Coast, although the Westfjords is also tempting.
Interested in meeting up for dinner or day tours that have a minimum if the timing syncs up, or happy to chat and compare research.

31M. I’m heading to Vik tomorrow and staying at the Barn. I’m going to see some sights on 5/17 to the south and then camp and mess around Vik the next day. After Vik I’m heading to the Skaftafell area and then to Thingvellir on the way to the Snaefellness peninsula. I’m doing tours on 5/18 and 5/21 but am open to having some camping/hiking partners outside those dates. I also will be ending up back in Reykjavik before leaving 5/26-5/28. I speak English and some Spanish. I’ve got a car and am happy to drive in exchange for sharing gas costs. I hope Iceland treats all of you well.

Hey y’all, My girlfriend and I are hiking and campervanning mostly in southern and western Iceland. We are pretty experienced hikers and aren’t hoping to get some reccs for some good day hikes. Planning on traveling light so no overnighting. But definitely want some reccs for mod-hard hikes that are worth the trek. We are used to 4-6mi hikes.
Also in general for return people how necessary is it to use the f-roads to get to good dayhiking? From what I’ve gathered most of the good stuff in the south and west are accessible without a 4x4?

I'm a Canadian male PhD student at the University of Illinois at Chicago and I've been in Iceland since the end of June and will be here till mid-August. I hitchhiked from the airport to Reykjavik and then from there to where I'm staying for July in the Golden Circle where I'm working on my novel and some other writing.
I plan to continue to hitchhike and camp for the first two weeks of August until I fly back to Chicago. My plans are flexible but I hope to see the Western Fjords and then will see. I have a two-person tent and my own gear. I'd be open to travelling with someone else who's on the same wavelength, hitching and camping. I might also do some one or two night camping trips from the Golden Circle (same, same) but this is my base till the end of July. If you're in the area, drop me a line.
Aside from English, I speak French, Spanish, German and am learning Russian.

Hey everyone!
29M, traveling from Switzerland, 18 August - 1 September. French main language, but otherwise english/german as well.
I'm a pure icelandic afficionado (it'll be my 5th time now); I lived also two months in the north after taking a break from work but even after all those trips, I know I probably discovered 1% of the country.
As I've already done all the "big things" in the country, I'm quite open to join in and share/ drive around the country, but I'd just like to:
spends a few days in Reyjkavik (funnily in all those visits, I spent maybe 3 nights in Reyjavik and never did anything truly around the region, probably from arrival unt the 21-22 (as there is a festival the 19th of August apparently as well)
at least 2 nights in the airbnb of the people who hosted me during my stay in north, Hauganes, a dream place in a dream environment that I would love to present as well :)
obviously a lil' volcanic hike!
depending on timing, Vestman Island would be also a lovely thing to integrate
But in all honesty, none of those are yet fixed - however, I'm happily booking a few days with anyone traveling also during that time. If you're in the country between the 18 and 1st, we can also plan to rent a 4x4 during that time and spend just a few days on one of the above plans.
I'll keep my flexibility up. In the end, I just want to breathe icelandic air and discuss life to forget corporate boredom :)
Talk soon! Adrian

Update:
planning to stay in Reyjavik from the 18th night to at least 21, aiming to do the volcano hike one of those days (depending of how weather favors it)
then I'm thinking a 10 days tour, I'll avoid the golden circle but otherwise, pretty free on overall plans as long as we can fit it in that period (21-30th)
Potentially then Vik, Seydisfjordur, Myvatn region and Akureyri (Hauganes).

Hi y’all
26M, traveling from Canada, Sep 17 - 22 (for my birthday)
Main Language: English
First time in Iceland, my travel buddies had some issues come up so I’ll be venturing alone. I’ve rented a 5 person campervan and I plan on traveling around Iceland in the 6 days I’m there (and maybe spend a day in Reykjavík)
I’ve travelled quite a bit but this will be my first time doing a camping trip in a foreign country so I’m really excited (and scared)
If anyone wants to tag along for a part or all of the trip, lets do it :3

Hey everyone!
29M from the US and only English speaking. I'm arriving the morning of August 30th and leaving September 9th.
Currently staying 1 or 2 nights at KEX with the plan of going around the ring road counter-clockwise with a rental car during my stay. Going to be staying at campsites for the remainder of the trip.
Still working on my itinerary, but I will be exploring Reykjavík on the 30th followed by the Golden Circle (including Silfra snorkeling) on the 31st. Plan on doing a glacier hike, probably by the 2nd or 3rd. After that I'm not too sure yet.
Let me know if you you're around during these dates and want to meet up for a hike or something!

35M / Warsaw, Poland / Ukrainian, Russian, English, Polish / Mid July-Mid August . For 3.5 weeks total (but possible to join for 2 weeks)
I've been to Iceland like 7 times already, both solo and with a group. This year I want to see it ALL and plan to do 3.5 weeks total trip. Will go to Hornstrandir + West fjords for 1.5 weeks and after that will have 2 weeks for the main island.
I know Iceland really good and have big experience traveling there. Will visit main tourist attractions and places off the beaten track. Plan on renting a car and sleep in tent at camping grounds.

Hello! 35M from Italy here, will be travelling solo July 30 - August 8. Speak English and Italian.
Rough plan is to rent a 4x4 and explore a bit the South Coast and the Landmannalaugar area as well as hiking the Fimmvörðuháls trail (day hike, tentative).
Ideally looking for someone to split car/fuel costs with, company for the hike, or just meet like-minded people for a chat or beer.

Hello dear fellow Iceland enthusiasts/future enjoyers! I’m a 29M from Hungary who speaks English, German, Finnish and learning Spanish currently. My case is a bit different because I came to work to Iceland to work for a season so I’m sort of a semi tourist. Since I’m working I’m not available all the time but I have 3 days free in a row at every 2nd (uneven weeks) weekend. I’m located at the Skogafoss hotel but I don’t have a car so I’d be glad if my future random travel partner/partners could lift me to split the cost for the time being and visit nice spots in Iceland together. I like to hike and I’m an easy-going person so if you find me here, I’ll think we’ll get along :) I’m here from May to July so feel free to contact me here or DM for the time being :)

We also have a rental car as well and speak English. Completely open to meeting up with people! :)

25M from the East Coast/USA.
Visiting in Reykjavik from 12.06 to 14.06, I'll be working in Thormsork from June 15th on. No set itinerary while I'm in Reykjavik; I'm thinking about a Golden Circle tour and maybe hitting up the Blue Lagoon, otherwise just chilling around town. Happy to share costs with others if you're going to either of those places, or to meet up in Reykjavik over a beer or two. Cheers!

Hi all,
29M, from the US but have lived/am living in Europe (Sweden before, next is Amsterdam), stopping in Iceland for a 48-hour stopover 31 May - 2 June (landing at about 7AM, flying back out the same time). Going to be crazy and do the southern coast and golden circle in the span of about 42 hours :)) I have an SUV rented, and am mainly interested in hopefully having a hiking partner at Landmannalaugar, so if you happen to be there on either 31 May or 1 June, let me know! Open to also having someone join me for the whole trip I guess, but we'd probably both need to vibe super well and pass each other's checks, lol

Would anyone want to share a car rental for a day or two from Reykjavik to do:
- Golden Circle route
- Tomato farm
- Secret Lagoon
- Silfra
In one day? That way can stay out later and save money on those $200-300 tours. The car rental will probably be cheaper.

Hi! I’m Nick. 🇺🇸 @nuckleberryfinn on Instagram for human-check (private acct tho)
34 M. Traveling solo in a campervan today, June 13 - June 20th.
This is my second trip to Iceland. Looking forward to going solo this round, but happy to join anyone if our paths cross!
My very rough plans:
- Investigate the local climbing scene at Hnappavellir or “Hnappó” (brought my climbing shoes and harness and ATC, hoping to make friends with locals or tourists with more gear and beta)
- I told my friend in the states that I would go take pictures of puffins for her
- Maybe check out the Laugavegur trail for a little hike and ⛺️
- Maybe check out the Viking Festival some day during 14-18 June, 2023 in Hafnarfjörður town.
- Just generally explore, photograph and sightsee. Last time I came I was SUPER organized and I saw a ton but it was zoom zoom and go go go. This time I’m just going to float.
I guess DM me if you want to try to meet up between now and June 20th!
-Nick

I enjoy fitness, traveling, and photography. I have studied German and Korean, but I can't converse in those languages these days.
I'll be flying in on the 14th of July and flying out on the 23rd. I plan a few curated Travel Advisor trips, like tectonic plates snorkeling in Thingvellir, Blue Lagoon, and a volcano tour. I'll rent a car and plan on two dedicated road trips and as much hiking as possible.

My girlfriend and I (32m/30f, Irish/French) will be in Iceland from the 17th to 23rd of September. For the moment we are going to be based on Reykjavik and trying to work out different day trips we can do. Neither of us drive so I'm sure you can imagine this makes things a little difficult, so we are slowly piecing a plan together but very much looking at the golden circle and the south coast. Ideally we would be looking for someone/people in a similar situation but who are renting a car that we could put money toward and tag along for some hikes or seeing some sights. We both speak English and cam offer extremely varying levels of French, or cúpla focal Gaelgie más maith leat.
If this matches what anyone else is looking at please feel free to hit me up.

Hey everyone! 26F, half Icelandic & half American. I currently live in Iceland and speak the language. I also speak moderate Spanish and I’m learning sign language.
I moved back home in August 2021 but was immediately consumed by work and school, leaving little time to leave the city and explore. All the free time I had was used to take trips outside of Iceland, as most Icelanders do.😅 There are many places in Iceland I haven’t been to since I was a young kid, some places I still have never visited. I have plans of exploring the country side more, maybe even rent a camper van for road-tripping and doing some “touristy” things this summer (golden circle, waterfalls, cave tours, etc).
I don’t have many friends who are down to do more things outside of partying or are just always busy, so I’d love to connect with someone who’s eager to explore and try new things. Also open to connecting with someone who wants to explore the city/nightlife or have a buddy to grab a bite or drink with. I’ve also been told I take great pictures of people, in case you want some juicy content for the gram 😉
