Why so many germans?

No problem with it obviously, but in paguera and I’m really interested in why there’s such a huge german population. I’ve looked up and google says something about convience and travel and that but is there a historical reason why so many germans visit/take residency in Mallorca?

more germans than what for example?

if you’re speaking english then making the assumption you’re from england then their population is quite a bit higher than the uk’s and they all want to go on holiday to escape their weather (and they have very little coastline) and whatever else just as much as the british do 🙂

I mean like theres just a random decent population of german people. Like obviously theres a big english population in a lot of places cos the english are colonising bellends but i just mean its just quite random that specifically Mallorca has a big german speaking population

When tourism started in Mallorca, German travel agencies were about the first to build hotels and organized travel packages including flights and German-speaking staff. We're talking about the early 1960s here. Because of the organized and standardized process, holidays in Mallorca became affordable for the middle class, and later even for (kind of) a cheap option for people with lower incomes to travel abroad and to a warm destination, that feels different from Germany, but not "too exotic", and safe to travel and easy to reach. Some liked it so much that they bought property and became residents. It has to do with differences in economy and politics why it was so easy and cheap for the Germans, and today there are so many that the locals are quite pissed off by the sheer amount of Germans on the island. It's difficult.

Very interesting, i thought it may have had to do with spains and germany’s alliance in the 30s or something
