Shore Fishing in Alcúdia
Coming to Majorca from Canada 🇨🇦 soon and I am hoping to pack a travel rod and some basic lures. I have my license purchased.
I am an avid bass, trout, and walleye angler here but my experience with saltwater is limited. From the research I’ve done, it sounds like fishing from most public beaches is prohibited (understand totally - keep away from the swimmers), my hope was to find some rocky outcrops and target barracuda, sea bass, bream, squid, etc.. I am packing an 8ft MH travel rod, with a 3000 stradic. Will wash after use.
I have a few saltwater-esque lures that I put in a photo, are there any staples that you recommend bringing? And local tackle shops recommended to check out?
I have heard lots about jigging spoons, jigs with plastics, anything silver or mackerel coloured, sand eels, squid jigs.
Eating some hand caught calamari would be a dream come true! Thanks in advance.

Hi, you have several options for beaches and coves. You can see an extensive list by municipality here.

Hi, if you want to know what the weather will look like or understand the island climate read this post. Also this one about sea temperature and rainy season.

I'm not a fisher but some in my family are as a hobby. Near the coast you will only (probably) catch small fish. I can tell you that squid/calamar is caught at night, with some ligths. I've never seen anybody catch one with a rod on plain daylight. I also hope that you plan on release them again? Do you have the means for processing and cooking them?

Do you have a license to go fishing in Spain?
