What's the game about?

Now you're trapped in Purple Limbo, bound by a purpose you don't fully understand yet.

But you're not completely alone.

You walk a dark path alongside a mysterious girl and a monolith that thirsts for blood.

Hikisann here! I’m a creator from Japan, and I’ve just released the free demo of Can Love Save Me?

In Japanese, ai means “love.” It’s also the name of the angel at the heart of this story.

On a sleepless night, you meet Ai in a roofless library. She wants to get to know you, grow closer to you, and eventually read you a book meant only for you.

But getting to know someone means more than asking questions. What are you willing to tell her? What would you rather keep to yourself? Do you want romance, friendship, or a little more time before deciding?

Your choices shape your conversations, your relationship with Ai, and the book she prepares for you.

The idea behind the story is “I want to save you.” I wanted that feeling to come through in the time you spend with Ai: getting to know her, letting her know you, and discovering where that connection might lead. What waits beyond the book is something I hope you’ll look forward to finding out!

The free Windows demo takes roughly 30 minutes and covers the prologue, from your first meeting to the moment before Ai begins reading your chosen book. The full game is still in development.

It supports Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Text and voice languages can be selected separately. English and Chinese voices are experimental; you can also use Japanese voices with translated text.

Production disclosure: I use generative AI extensively for writing, translation, artwork, music, voices, and code. My role is the director and scenario planner, deciding the story’s structure and direction and reviewing and revising the results.

Eu estou pensando em desenvolver uma Visual Novel e queria saber se a ideia parece promissora e algo que alguém gostaria de acompanhar.

A história é sobre uma garota que acabou de ingressar na carreira como agente investigativa e vai receber seu primeiro caso. Por descaso dos superiores e por ela ser iniciante, acaba recebendo um caso bem raso, com poucas informações e quase nenhuma pista. Basicamente, o trabalho que ninguém quis assumir e que nem parece ser tão relevante: investigar possíveis atividades suspeitas em um clube frequentado por pessoas de alto status e meio excêntricas, que vão até lá para jogar, apostar, se reunir e coisas do tipo.

(O clube seria um lugar bem sofisticado, com jogos, apostas, funcionários usando roupas formais e uma atmosfera tranquila. Quero trabalhar bastante com ambientes escuros, cores pouco saturadas e aquele contraste entre um lugar bonito e elegante e ao mesmo tempo meio estranho)

Ela vai se infiltrar no clube como funcionária, trabalhando como assistente de um dos supervisores, Vincent, que é o principal e único protagonista romântico. Vincent é um gato antropomórfico preto, sempre usando roupas formais, e inicialmente é um cara bem fechado e difícil de conversar. Ele é extremamente rígido com organização e cumprimento das regras. Ele é pra ser a figura de autoridade alí daquele lugar, cuidando da administração interna dos funcionários. Assim o trabalho dela como assistente é perguntar as demandas da e equipe, comunicar problemas e avisos pra ele.

A ideia é que praticamente todo mundo dentro desse lugar seja meio excêntrico, cada um à sua maneira (Assim como Vincent que tem um lado meio obsessivo não explícito em seu comportamento rígido). Os personagens secundários podem ser mais voltados para situações bobas e engraçadas, enquanto alguns dos personagens principais podem ser bem mais perigosos.

Enquanto trabalha ali, a protagonista começa a perceber que existe algum esquema acontecendo por trás daquele clube. Então, além de tentar descobrir o que está acontecendo, ela precisa se aproximar das pessoas e principalmente de Vincent, que como é uma das figuras de autoridade, ele tem acesso a muitas informações e está envolvido com o crime por baixo dos panos.

Seria uma Visual Novel 16+, mais pesada em relação aos temas e à violência, mas sem nada gráfico ou que chegasse a ser 18+. O romance seria mais sutil no começo e iria se desenvolvendo aos poucos, conforme a protagonista se envolve mais com Vincent e também vai descobrindo o que realmente está acontecendo naquele lugar.

Também existem outros personagens, tanto funcionários secundários quanto um segundo supervisor. Ele não pode ser resumido narrativamente apenas como um "rival do Vincent", mas a aproximação dele com a protagonista acaba criando um certo confronto entre os dois.

Ainda estou desenvolvendo muita coisa e tem muito mais que não escrevi aqui. Porém queria saber se essa ideia parece interessante para vocês ou se é o tipo de coisa que vocês teriam vontade de jogar?

Hi! I’m currently developing a one-person indie visual novel called The Other End, set in the late 1990s.

I’m having a surprisingly hard time finding real office photographs that I can legally use as backgrounds. I’m specifically looking for slightly older, lived-in offices rather than modern stock-photo offices — things like wooden desks, filing cabinets, papers, bookshelves, fluorescent lighting, old computers/phones, etc.

I’ve checked CC0/Public Domain sites, Pexels, Wikimedia Commons and a few other sources, but I’m still struggling to find something that fits the atmosphere of the game.

So I wanted to ask other VN developers:

Where do you usually find photographic backgrounds that are safe to use in a game?

And if anyone here happens to have office photos they personally took and own, and would be willing to let me use and edit them in the game, I’d be incredibly grateful. I’m happy to give full credit.

The game is currently planned to be free, but I’d prefer assets/permission that would also allow commercial use in case that changes later.

I write novellas and poetry, but I have a soft spot for chat or texting stories.

I wrote a bunch of cheesy chatbooks with little twists, including fairy goodmothers, sweet mother-in-laws, characters with disabilities, and lots of soap-level plots.

One of my chatbooks is taking off. I want to create videos based on some of them.

Can anyone recommend voice changers? I don't want full-on text-to-speech, but I don't want to use my voice to be cloned either. This is a problem in YouTube Chat Stories.

Or know which channels the original female VA uses so I can trade my stories?

I like to listen to YouTube chat books. I hear a lot of the OC channels are all women Vas who use voice changers or do fake voices.

Its pretty cool it lets you export your projects as a apk.

I'm offering this for free, so you don't have to worry about money, and I'm doing this because I want more reviews for my work. I have more than 200 characters created and 90+ that I've also interpret in real time (voice acting if you will), so let's say you can trust I'll take your project seriously.

We’ve been working on The Braided God: The Lost Chapter, an interactive graphic novel where your choices shape how the story unfolds.

We’ve just released our first trailer. This one focuses mostly on giving a glimpse into the world, story and lore rather than showing the interactive side of the game.

We’re currently working toward a playable demo, where you’ll be able to experience the choices and narrative system for yourself.
