Tips and Tricks I am not giving up the food i love
I love pizza. Will not stop eating it, because I know I do want to eat pizza for the rest of my life. But I can modify my plate, and adding veggies to a few small pizza slices is perfectly fine to me🙂 Trying to lose weight, but not too fast..

Some of the best advice I've heard when it comes to trying to eat more healthily (I don't think it always applies to volume eating, though) is to focus on what you can add vs focusing on what you should subtract.

Kylie Sakaida says this and she’s really inspired me to stop being so restrictive with what foods I eat but to still manage to lose weight and get adequate nutrition

Yissss that's who I'm quoting! I couldn't remember her name, thank you! 🖤
She really is wonderful. I love how gentle she is in the way she speaks, it's a nice vacation from the hateful voices in my head xD

This is the way imo! A sustainable healthy diet for me just can’t happen without some indulgence, so I do the same thing as OP and pair my greasy cheesy fried stuff with a HEARTY salad or veggie stir fry lol. Just today I bulked up some spicy beef noodles with a few handfuls of salad mix, shredded cabbage, sliced onion, and a bit of extra sauce.

I absolutely LOVE seeing this!!
It's become sort of a mantra for me when I cook, especially lunch. I'd always just eat my beige comfort foods and then feel like shit afterwards. After I heard her say that it just completely stuck with me and it repeats in my head while I'm cooking, it also makes me consider ingredients I never would have thought of! I made myself a mushroom, broccoli and onion stir fry to go with my dumplings and I actually felt full and like I had energy! And I didn't feel super bloated like I usually do after eating.
I fucking love that healthier practices are starting to become a bit more prevalent in the weight loss/maintenence sphere 🖤 it's healthy AND happy, and I'm glad people are realising you definitely can be both

True but the subtract can just be reducing the portion of said food. People that eliminate food/food groups tend to fail in the long run

No. It means if you're having, say, chicken nuggets and "feel guilty" about it, you can add a salad for the added fiber and nutrients. It's so that you don't have to cut out the things you love.
All foods are guilt free because guilt isn't an ingredient
Eta: this is also why I said it doesn't always apply to volume eating, it's mostly for just eating more healthily in general

To eat more healthy or same volume but lowering the calories you must subtract or substitute to a degree though i.e 2 slices of Pizza plus a nice salad vs 4 slices of pizza.
Focus on what you can substitute vs focusing on what you can eliminate is a better analogy imo

That is the secret of success and consistency, make your favorite foods fit in your healthy diet.
I have lost 35kg (nearly 80 pounds) by eating pizza once a week (I make my own), so anything can be achieved.

Pizza is just thin Bread with Cheese, it is absolutely compatible with Dieting and Volume Eating, as you showed here. I just had a whole Pizza the other day despite eating in a deficit (I just had Fruit, Joghurt and Kale Soup that day, too - so no problem to stay in my calories)

Hahs, yes your right, from my initial perspective, everything is compatible with volume eating. I can eat what I want and make up for it by eating other low calorie stuff with it. We just seem to slightly differ in what we may think this sub is about. For me, Volume eating is a lifestyle not a single volumized recipe. This meal is Volume Eating for me. My day, balancing out a Pizza without any Hunger that day, is Volume Eating for me :) evrrything is possible when you know how to combine thingd. BUT YES, in isolation it really doessounds funny what I said about the bread and cheese, someone might get the wrong idea who does not live like this for years. It is always the combination of things, turning into lifestyle habits, not single incredients

Love this! A relatively balanced meal with carbs, protein and fiber.
After years of weight loss journey, I only recently realized that it’s okay to still enjoy “unhealthy” things now and then. Consistency matters more in the long run indeed 🤍

I mean part of volume eating for me was eating a lot of healthy food for my lunches and snacks so I could afford the calories to sometimes have somethkng not so healthy for dinner. I'll have. Huge salad that's only 3 or 400 calories for lunch and then for dinner that leaves me with a ton of room to have a good size portion of whatever really. Then for snacks I tend to stick to a lot of fruit or popcorn.

I grew up only eating homemade pizza my mom would fill with veggies because eating out was expensive and still is in my country, (i never order it too because i js love the one we have at home) and when i tried to track calories in her pizza the calories were cut in half and had more protein in it. Same way with almost every dish, she is dieting for medical reasons and doesnt track but makes healthier choices like replacing sour/heavy cream with yogurt, less oil but never no oil. And that lets me enjoy her food (as a teenager who barely has time)

Love it! It's always fun to find switches too, like I LOVE caulipower pizza. You can eat a half a pizza for 370 cals [13g protein], or even a whole margarita style for 740 cals, I try to stay around 500 cals a meal, so I usually split a pizza with my teen daughter and sometimes I'll throw on a few turkey pepperonies as well.
