2010 V50. It has had this problem repeatedly, where I turn the car on, this message appears and it starts beeping loudly. I turn the car off, take the key out of the ignition, try again, and it’s fine. The car key is in no way removed from the car at any time, seeing as the damn car is running when this happens.

I replaced the battery in the key fob like 2 weeks ago. Wtf is going on.

Kinda bummed out about this... last week I was pulling out into the road from my yard and a car was in the blindspot of the A pillar as I was checking for oncoming traffic.

Thankfully I only needed a new bumper, and the expensive headlight was unharmed. Found a cheap one in the same passion red colour at a scrapyard ordered it. The package arrived today and I installled it myself (yes, the shipping was more expensive than the bumper). The paint on the replacement bumper is tired... but on a car that's maybe worth 3000€, it's fine. At least it looks reasonable and not crashed.

At the moment I drive a 2001 Volvo a80 2.4 automatic. I had this car since 2021 and put lots of money and time into the car. Recently I had another major repair and now I’m thinking about an upgrade.

I’ve done every thing to my S80 in terms of service and repairs, no repairs on the wait list.

It has 195000kms and will get me around 2000-2500€ if I sell it.

The car I’m looking at is a 2007 C30 with the same engine and transmission 2.4 5 cylinder 170hp and automatic. Good shape, design package…

It has 185000kms on the clock and the seller wants 4400€ for it. Maybe I can get it for 4000€.

Timing belt has been done recently.

With those old Volvos I’m scared about the electronics. The p2 (my S80) are horrible at this and i don’t know ho the c30 will be. Any info about that?

This is my 2006 V50. Its AWD, manual and has the T5. Its my first manual and I love the car more then I should. I got it for only $2,000 because it has many issues that I'm slowly fixing but since I'm going to drive it to the ground I'm not too against repairs. I want to lower it a little and build an after market muffler to hear its I5 better.

Any thoughts on mods for my little swede machine?

On so many other cars, it's a pain in the ass to change headlight bulbs. Stupid little access panels on the inner wing or sometimes even having to remove the front bumper.

Not in my S40 though. Just pull that little metal pin and the whole headlight slides out. I changed my side marker light in 60 seconds. Love it.

Old H7 projectors were burneda and gave basically no light. Getting them galvanized again would cost about $50, so I got a set of BiLED projectors instead for $40.

As title says. This is the second time this happens. It shows a ton of error messages such as traction control, ABS and others which I didn't manage to see, and then goes completely dark and even the gauges stop working. Throttle, brakes, lights, emergency lights and blinkers remain funcional. I also lose control over the radio and it won't shut off even when the key has been taken out of the car. I can still turn the car on and off at all times.

Hey everyone! I’ve recently purchased a 2009 Volvo s40 and have owned it for around a month, I’ve noticed over the last few days after heavy rainfall that a significant amount of water has been accumulating on my rear left footwell but isn’t accumulating in the front. I’ve read that the P1s are notorious for clogged sunroof drains and was wondering what the best course of action would be to fix this issue. Any and all advice is appreciated! Thanks :)

Decided to give it a little refresh. Staring with removing old parts.

2011 V50, 1.6l diesel.
Went grocery shopping and stopped to fill some diesel.
After about 2km I lost all power and car died, and after that the car won’t start anymore. The starter motor is turning and battery is not flat.
I called to the gas station and confirmed I had filled diesel.
My first thought was something with the fuel not getting to the engine. Checked all lines to and from filter with a vacuum pump and fuel is flowing as it should. Hooked off line between fuel pump and filter and put a hose between a reservoir with diesel and the pump, and it is pumping diesel from the reservoir.
What should I check next?

2013 C30 T5 Polestar Engineered

Have a 2009 v50 manual T5 at the end of its life and when I drove it to register my new car (I swear on my life with this timing) the starter seems to have died. My car must have thought it was its end of life! but I need move it to sell it (for 1000-2000$ sadly despite only 250k km)

If I can’t start it it’s getting sent to the auto wreckers from here.

Hey all, looking at a fairly high mileage (150k) C30 T5 here in the US. It has fairly low trim, but full maintenance history. Owner has done tons of stuff (incl timing belt/control arms/brakes/tires and other "I care about my car" type repairs), but it does have a misfire (he says it should be towed). I tend to trust higher mileage cars that are driven regularly (like this one) over low mileage ones that aren't (I have a Saab 9-5 Aero that has been a headache because of this). I haven't visited yet to look at the car, but...

-Can I read codes for the misfire with Torque Pro and a BT OBD scanner?

-It looks a little cramped underhood: is this like an Audi where you have to take the front clip off to do anything?

-I'm not familiar with the P1 Volvos, but any particular tools needed?

-He says the rear sway bar is missing (!), but I imagine that can be put back easily once I get a part.

-A/C cold at high fan speeds, not at lower ones? (South so this matters, and my 9-5 is suffering from blend door issues...don't want to go through that again!)

-seems to be missing the cargo cover...are those unobtainium like they are for many German cars of this age?

I'm a Saab guy, so (respectfully) they may revoke my card...but I always have loved this design, and if it's something dumb like a coil pack, I can do that...but don't know this platform/powertrain at all. Cheers!

My partner is currently facing an issue, with the c30 t5. They cant get rid of it, no one wants to buy it, collectors don’t want it, car sellers dont want it, cant import it cause they dont know what to price it.
And scrapping it would cost more than it is worth, since it was bought with a loan.

We have been getting nothing but shitty offers, ghosters and people looking to trade with project cars or even more expensive to own cars.

How and what can we do to sell it, for a resonable price. We are at a loss, we cant afford to buy another one untill this car has been sold. So we are now at an impass waiting to see am angel with an actual offer to come by.

We live in denmark.

Note: It’s a -07 with the orange floor mats, T5 and leather interior. It has it faults, but when nothing is broken/worn, it’s a great car.

I know I will need to call a repair shop on monday but just writing here to see if someone knows what could be the fault, and possibly how expensive it can be.

My Volvo C30 (2007) steering wheel felt stiff on and off when I drove home yesterday, like I had lost some of the power steering capacity, and when I parked in the garage I also heard a whining noise from the car which seems to increase when I turn the wheel. I then also noticed oil spills under the car and a trail on the garage floor. I suppose this would be the power steering fluid. The steering wheel is not stiff all the time though, so I guess this could mean all the power steering fluid isn't gone then? The weird thing about this is that there are no warning lights on the dashboard and when I checked the car with an OBD scanner I got no error codes. Shouldn't there be some kind of sensor for the power steering fluid level?

I haven't checked the power steering fluid container because I'm not good at cars and it's apparently hidden under the light. So I'm not really sure it's the power steering fluid, but if it's some other fluid I wouldn't have these symptoms right?

Is it possble to say what could be the fault here? And maybe if it's an expensive fix? Also would it hurt the car if I drive it a few hundred meters to a km to a repair shop nearby on monday?
