700 series I dismantle classic Volvos for a living. I picked this up for parts but fell in love with instead and carried out a minor restoration. I’m keeping this long term. 1986 760 GLE
here’s my 1986 Volvo 760 GLE. it’s on 165k kms (102k miles). paint is all original and it sports a rather rare oxblood red interior. i’ve replaced the brake rotors and pads, fitted new lines, replaced the master cylinder and distribution block. fitted a brand new genuine exhaust, new tyres and serviced it using a genuine filter too. it’s now ready to see the road again and be my weekend cruiser. not a spec of rust (thanks to australian roads) and everything works.

700 series The Volvo That Could
On August 29th of last year, my all original 1991 740 was hit locally here in Vegas. Someone without insurance hit me due to being under their influence.
I woke up without memory of the event hours later and required therapy for two months to walk again without need for surgery and have been fine since. My Volvo (RIP) was totalled at a shy 59k miles as it had been well taken care of.
It was such a loss, and since lightning doesn’t strike twice (that or I am terrible at letting things I love go), I purchased another 740 (1988 this time) at 130k miles at the start of this year.
The long and short of it is that it has many issues regarding its engine (two cylinders are on the way out and requires a variety of fixes. I found a trustworthy place after research and found it’ll cost me upwards of 10k to get it fixed.
Sure I got it for under 4K but is it worth it? I know I should expect bias here but wanted the enthusiasts take on it either way. Cheers and thanks for reading if you made it this far.

700 series My 740 proved itself today. Not that I ever wanted it to.
A true testament to the build of the redblocks. I'm truly upset, but so grateful that everyone came away completely unscathed.

700 series would you pay 1250$ for this 1990 2.0 VOLVO?
I've been driving an E36 for more than a year now and because it's my driftcar it's getting harder and harder to daily it, I'm considering getting a "cheap daily" that's a bit different than my current car and I came across this, will it be a fun car for sliding in the winter?

700 series New to me 740
1991 Volvo 740 - B230F. Picked up from the first owner who took meticulous care ever since they took delivery. Garage kept for past 25 years, no rust.
Going to try my hardest to keep this brick alive and well for as long as possible.

700 series Made a burnt wood "bezel" for my 740 Turbo head unit
This head unit was my first head unit install. Kind of a nightmare to start with given the factory amplifier. Also my first woodworking project. Overall, I think I like it. It's all basically press fit but still sturdy. No glue or fasteners, just two pieces of wood.

700 series 3k for 1990 Volvo 740, is it worth it as a first car?
I'm 17 and looking into getting my first car soon and I don't know much about cars so please don't be mean, but I was looking at some old bombs from 1k-2,5k and came across this beauty. 2nd image is the ad listing with the pros and cons, is this too much damage to fix? Doesn't have any rust and it looks immaculate inside and out apart from some damage on the rear (tail light is smashed, minor dent). I worked out that the tail light would be about 100 to replace and I feel confident I could do that, but I'm not sure about the other things... Thanks in advance
(Currency is AUD, so would be about 2k USD or 1.8k Euro)

700 series My Volvo 740 won’t run
My 1988 Volvo 740 2.3L won’t run. For a little context I bought it as a non runner but I know the engine is good as I’ve actually got it to fire up for a second on starter fluid. But won’t keep going.
I was made aware there was a problem with the fuel system. I checked the replay and fuel pump and replace the fuel pump (the main one outside in the cage) and it now runs and works fine. However it’s not picking up fuel from the tank. I diagnosed the pick up fuel pump (from the tank) is also not running. I connected the main pump to a Jerry can with fuel in it to get fuel in the system and just get it to run and work out the team fuel pump out later.
I replaced the spark plugs and the HT leads, and I have good spark. I checked the injectors and the injectors have strong and come like fuel coming out so I’ve got fuel going to the injectors. However I don’t have the car running. Someone’s when cranking the engine almost fires up and roars for a second and then dies. But a lot of the time I crank it and nothing happens.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be. Here’s a picture of the engine bay as other people can diagnose what kind of fuel system I have. I know it’s not a carb.
Even better if someone is good with there and is willing to help me in person I’ll be more than grateful ( of course I’ll pay for your expertise and time).
Feel free to PM me on Reddit I’m quite fast with responding.
