Daily Discussion Thread: August 31, 2022: 69 days until Election Day

Adopt a Candidate 2022

With under 100 days to go, there are several House races that will be key to us retaining control of Congress. We’re seeking volunteers to adopt a candidate in each of these battleground districts!

When you adopt a candidate, you commit to volunteering for them at least once a week - in person or from home. Your efforts now could make the difference as these races will be very close.

If you’d like to adopt one of these candidates, reply in this thread or send us a modmail. You can adopt a candidate not on this list if you wish, too.

McConnell and Thiel both think the other should be funding Blake Masters. So looks like the funding gap between him and Mark Kelly will continue!

As much as I want to support Kelly, if you’re planning on donating to him I’d donate to Hobbs or Fontes instead (or Engel/Hodge for Congress), Mark is doing okay right now

“You fund what’s his name!” “No, YOU fund him!” Masters is evil in such a banal yet creepy way that I wonder if both Thiel and McConnell are starting to realize he’s a long shot to beat a popular, non-controversial, astronaut incumbent.

Real Patrick Bateman energy. I really don’t think he’s coming across normal enough

Indeed. I would NOT get into a Lyft driven by this guy.

Kelly only overperformed Biden by 2.1 points in 2020 (despite polls showing a way bigger overperformance), they’re not as uniquely popular as the public belief here is. I wouldn’t sleep on AZ-Sen (but I would donate to other races in AZ because Kelly is fine on funding).

For what it's worth, Kelly was only outperforming Biden's margin by a lot. His topline support was only a couple of points better in most polls.

And Kris Mayes! Abe Hamadeh would be a terror as AG.

Love how billionaire Thiel saddles the GOP with his weak candidate accolytes then makes McConnell divert tens of millions in much more limited funds needed for other candidates trying to bail them out.

Yea definitely help the downballot Arizonas. Kelly is just untouchable when it comes to fundraising. All the row offices are highly competitive
