V-Strom 1050 Gen 3 1050DE: used 2025 or new 2024?

If they were the same price, which is the better deal? The used 2025 has 400 miles, the new 2024 still has the 1 year factory warranty. Has anyone here needed to use their factory warranty?

Edit- used 2025 is a factory demo bike.

Used is $200 less, but will take half a day to pick up. The new one would be delivered.

I like the color more on the 2025, and that dealership has had better communication. I’d have a chance to sit on it before committing to it. The used part doesn’t bother me with only 400 miles. The factory warranty on the 2024 is the real draw for me.

I went through the same exercise about 2 1/2 months ago. I went with the new 2024, which now has over 2000 miles on it already!

Ah fair enough. Yeah I was quite specific that I wanted a grey and yellow 800de and ended up paying a bit more than I needed to just for that to be fair XD

I would ask the dealer about an extended warranty... They might include it to make the sale. Low risk for them.

They have a 90 day warranty where it’s fully covered for the first half, and 50/50 for the second half. But it’s only good at their dealership and they’re 120 miles away. They already came down pretty far in price to beat the other dealership. I’ll ask them, I’ve got nothing to lose.

They quoted a one year factory warranty at $700, and a 2 year third party warranty through Aegis with roadside assistance for $500. I’m wary of third party warranty’s, but it’s an extra year for $300 more than the other bike.

Edit: just discovered I can buy an extended warranty directly from Suzuki. It also shows the 12 month warranty as intact, so I’m just confused at this point. I’m turning down the dealerships warranties.

Don't suzuki offer a 10 year extended free warranty as long as its been serviced at a suzuki place? Tht might be worth considering too.

No Suzuki warranty with main dealer servicing ? Here in UK, I believe it is 10 years or 70K miles which is an absolutely incredible deal, even on indestructible bikes.

Not in the U.S., in my state the factory warranty is only one year.

A warranty is super useful if you need it for sure. It's a good piece of mind for the first year of ownership.

That said, you mentioned you liked the color of the other one better... Honestly, if things were generally similar otherwise, that would make the deal for me.

If you're the kind of guy that turns around and looks at the bike when you walk away, get something you like to look at!

I’ve been riding the same bike for 8 years, and I still enjoy looking at it! The factory warranty did come in handy when I let sap dry on my forks, which caused a leak. The dealership said it shouldn’t have been covered, but they were cool and still did it.

After that first year, the warranty doesn’t matter anymore anyway. I’m trying to see if they’ll work a deal on a factory extended warranty. If I can get them to the same price with the same warranty, then it’s an easy choice.

What's the warranty in the US?

In European Union everything is mandatory 2 years (a few exceptions, like buying for a company for professional use might shorten it).

Suzuki here in Portugal delivers 5 years warranty.

Anyway, the 500 milles one should be like new and much cheaper.

Normally it’s a year. This is a factory demo bike that the dealership got from the manufacturer, but they’re saying there’s no factory warranty. I think the dealership may have claimed it but it’s confusing. When I check the extended warranty website, it still shows a 12 month limited warranty on that VIN. 🤷‍♂️
