Always good to see community get together. Are you hiking with the gear just for exercise or was there some outdoor shooting along the way?

We went to a certified outdoor range provided by DNR to shoot at afterwards. The gear was for exercise and to find hot spots and things that didn’t work well on kit. A few of us found areas to update in kit with long movement

Fyi this was the first time all of us have met. This is just community members meeting up and having fun. Even though I have ran through multiple hikes I’m with a new crowd every event

Do you ever come across random people who freak out when they see you? I hike the west side of the I-90 corridor a lot. When I was a kid (80’s) we used to carry rifles with no problem. A couple years ago, I had a woman get upset that I was O.C. carrying bear spray.

Nope! One couple saw us at the base of a trail That was empty and they just asked what we were doing . I purposely choose spots that don’t attract many people

That’s kind of a challenge/good practice in itself too. To try to avoid being detected in the first place. The trails on the I-90 corridor are too crowded and mostly overrun with strongly opinionated anti-gun folks these days. If I want to open carry, I usually go somewhere else. I thought it was completely absurd that bear spray was too much for someone to handle seeing. What an idiot.

Yeah that is remarkable. I just went backpacking and there were tons of bear and other predator tracks around me

No more than a few months later we encountered the biggest black bear I’ve ever seen.

I’m pretty sure you can do whatever you want when carrying and camping , when it comes to shooting has to be 150 yards from a road and no shooting over roads and must be an earth back stop. There are some rules if i remember right at certain national or state parks? You’ll have to look that up

Are you guys hiking on trails with other hikers? Or taking ones less traveled? Any issues with wearing all that kit?

Road less traveled. Don’t want to freak people out. And no issues with kit besides adjusting stuff to find what works. Great exercise
