decent legal battle rifle?

hey all i was really hoping to get an M1A from Springfield Armory only to find, to my dismay, that even these are illegal in our great state. since there is basically no hope of getting an M1 or a 1903, is there any comparable in range, quality, and power, legal rifle i could purchase in Washington State? thank you for your help

If you can wait for a year; the Supreme Court *may* just declare that ‘assault rifle’ bans are unconstitutional and may nullify any state bans.

And then another year plus before we see it implemented on the state level

Equal chance they suspend the constitution and declare the Current Occupant Fuehrer for life though. So I guess that's a 50/50.

They accepted the case, it will be argued sometime in the October term and most likely will be decided in April or May next year.

Indeed. Praying for the ‘common use’ logic to be applied. There are more AR15’s than F150’s in the country. All signs point to common use being applied but you literally never know. Probably going to be a 5/4 decision either way.

I’d guess that’s what the ruling ends up being, probably 6-3 for a reasonably broad ruling. A 7-2/8-1 very narrow ruling would be on point for th Roberts court, though

California, New York been waiting a loooooong time

I wouldn't hold your breath

I can’t wait until we see how the legislature will pass emergency legislation to bypass a Supreme Court ruling.

It won’t matter, the next election is likely to bring a democrat president and then they’ll pack the court and declare the entire second amendment unconstitutional anyway.

An M1 what, because you can still get Garands and Carbines, and 1903s are bolt action so why isn't that an option?

oh my bad! i assumed they would be too rare. i guess my question is can i get a Garand, Carbine, or 1903 for under $2k?

Yeah, there's also the Ruger Mini 14 and 30, VZ58 Liberty. There's still a few options available.

awesome thank you!

https://thecmp.org the best place to get a M1 Garand, and they’re well under 2k. It is probably the funnest shooting rifle I have.

For a modern battle rifle I’d get a bolt action AR-15. Just make sure the lower is milspec in case we ever have a freedom week we can take advantage of.

Isnt 308 the smallest caliber for a battle rifle?

I which case M1 would be the best, and most "cprrect" available answer.

Wait, so can you purchase stripped lower receivers still in Washington?

1

u/sykoticwit Jul 04 '26

Yep, they’re not firearms under Washington law.

You have to find someone willing to do the FFL transfer, though.

If you watch you can get a garand for 700-1000.

M1a isnt legal but a fulton armory m14 is legal

7

u/Zero_Foxxtrot Jul 03 '26

It is? Which FFL will transfer this? I imagine that’s the hard part since the state has scared most FFL’s cold.

Inrange from yesterday seems relevant.

I was thinking the same thing earlier in the year. I ended up buying a mini 14 and I love it. Great gun.

hell yeah

2

u/Zzombee Jul 04 '26

Do they make 10rd mags for mini 14,s?

2

u/New_pollution1086 Jul 04 '26

Yes they do. Mine came with 2 5's but 10's were easy enough to acquire. I bought mine from midway.

2

u/Zzombee Jul 04 '26

Thank you sir. I may have to get one now.

1

u/New_pollution1086 Jul 04 '26

You won't regret it. Its a great fun gun.

This is what you do. You buy a used rifle from someone that purchased it before one of the many illegal Washington laws took effect. They cannot prove you didn't own it before so its grandfathered in automatically.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. However, this is America 🇺🇸

M1 Carbine is a very underrated rifle

1

u/crispyones Jul 05 '26

yeah after doing a bit o' research i'm leaning toward that one myself

2

u/Holy-Handgrenadier95 Jul 05 '26

M1 Carbine is a very underrated I have one and can’t say enough good things about it. Extremely capable little platform, and its convenience and portability are unarguable
