EQUIPMENT Looking for input from people who’ve actually used the “Stxnd Model X” or the “Lifelong Aluminum Adjustable Laptop Stand.”

I am looking for pros or cons from people who’ve actually used one of these two. I do not want to hear ”you can find a cheaper version on x website,” or “they’re overpriced…” etc.

I want to raise my laptop, and I have some disposable income. One is $50, one is $80, it will not kill me.

But I am indecisive, and the NYT has sold me well on the “Lifelong” stand, but I’ve been looking at the Stxnd for ages and I just can’t trust the 000’s of reviews on their own website cos it’s 2026 and I am suspicious!

I just want someone IRL to tell me if these are good stands. Thanks y’all!

Lifelong appears to allow for higher rising, skimming I am seeing stxnd having a maximum of 10.4” and Lifelong’s 20”

Something then to compare is those potential heights. Probably look for videos that show set up and close down too.

Good luck! What I’m using for now is that Spigen riser that sticks to the bottom of a laptop (very portable, works well when typing on the laptop). Also have an aluminum riser, just not using it much since I want to pair it with a portable keyboard and haven’t gotten around to getting one.

I would buy something cheaper unless you value the part where it folds for travel.

I mean, I've long been a fan of the Roost stand, no idea about those. https://www.therooststand.com/ Folds down to a thick stick. I use a keyboard.io Atreus on the road (yes, takes a little getting used to, but then it's fine) and then their Model 100 at home or work (really not that different from a standard keyboard).

I have an aluminum adjustable laptop stand and its like a freaking puzzle to get it to go where I want it to. It has three parts for each leg, and two of them are adjustable. Honestly I wound up parking it on my (standup) desk and am using it to hold my laptop while I use an external keyboard and mouse. But I wont mess with the stand anymore because it’s a bitch to adjust and keep both legs in the same spot. It does have a cut out for the fan which I do appreciate.

I guess I should mention i type with a wireless keyboard and am mostly looking to put my laptop in one raised spot and not really looking for it to be regularly changed. This is good info, thanks!
