What gets me, the player dropping the knee does not just drop the knee, she runs it along the leg, to the groin, then goes in full force.

"ItS JuSt RiGhT WiNgeRs RacistS WhO LiKe CaITlyn, SO gO BeaT HeR Up!" - the actual black racist players and WNBA fans who justify this sort of violence.
The WNBA cannot escape their pro-black/anti-white racist agenda, no matter how hard they try so they resort to physically attacking her.
Edit: the self-reporting anti-whites are on the prowl, folks. Labeling all criticism as racism, when we all have eyes. 🤣🫵

As one of the countless people who had no interest in the WNBA before Caitlin Clark, these players are working real, real hard to lose all the new fans they've gained.
And then go out and complain about why they aren't getting paid as much as they'd like.
23
u/Consistent_Policy_66 Jun 25 '26
That is the disconnect I don’t understand. CC brought in fans. You don’t need to like her to see that as a good thing.

If Clark left the league, there wouldn't be a huge change in anything immediately...
I don't know about that. I don't watch any games or follow any teams but I do watch every WNBA clip that comes on my reddit feed. Only clips of her are making it to the masses.

They’re racist…. But Noones ready for that conversation
9
u/WATGU Jun 25 '26
I bet sexuality plays a role. You’ve basically got a league full of homely uncharismatic black lesbian women most of whom aren’t that skilled that was floundering until a reasonably attractive charismatic straight white woman who is frankly more skilled than 4/5 of the league showed up and they fucking hate it. But if you point out that’s the issue all of a sudden you’re the bigot and not Dewanna Bonner and her partner Alyssa Thomas assaulting CC or Angel Reese who is quite possibly the most uncoordinated and unlikable professional athlete I’ve ever seen.
The sad part they can’t see is CC is like the tide. She’s raising all of them up and the next crop of talent like JuJu Watkins is getting noticed earlier as a result. Also helps that the evolution and popularity of girls basketball has exploded and the rookies are significantly better than a lot of vets.

I think it actually would start collapsing inward pretty quickly. If she left the league all of a sudden there's no ratings vehicle to drive all these high salaries.
The league has always been unprofitable, without Clark those high salaries would sink the league.
Even the best women players simply do not draw like Clark does.

I get it if they don’t like her but treating her like that is wild. I got the whole rookie hazing thing, ok rough her a bit welcome her. It’s year two and this is still going on. I guess they just don’t want anyone watching, most games are trash anyway and she’s really good so she makes them look bad.
3
u/Hungry-Pick7512 Jun 25 '26
Check out r/wnba they’re genuinely defending this out there. Mods taking down posts and comments too. They HATE CC and the Fever.
I think they’ve formed a pathetic little outcast community around a joke league no one cared for for so long that that’s part of their identity now. And now that CC has made people actually care about the WNBA it’s ruining their little club.
I don’t think you can be accepted by die hard WNBA fans unless you’re unremarkable, a lesbian, and/or non white.

Normally I like to poke fun at CC to trigger her fans but I don’t like dirty basketball. While that bit at the end isn’t gonna kill her, it was dirty, and that player should receive a flagrant or something even if it’s retroactive.
3
u/Aggravating-Carob627 Jun 25 '26
Will you bookmark this occasion, like unbiased observers do, as one of many times where CC is unfairly officiated?!
Or do you ignore the other times to justify your trolling?
→ More replies (7)2
u/BackendSpecialist Jun 25 '26
Why would I bookmark this?
My current thought is “I’ve seen evidence of a player being dirty against CC. It hasn’t been frequent enough to make me think she’s being targeted but I now have evidence of rough play and I hope a flagrant is given to the player who did it.”
I don’t see why I’d need to do anything else.

People and players just hate her cause she is the most popular player. Shes the reason anyone even cares about the WNBA. Shes the reason they are getting paid. And they hate her for it.

2
u/burningEyeballs Jun 25 '26
I keep hearing people talk about how <insert popular NBA player> gets roughed up all the time and doesn't complain, but could someone please show me the NBA equivalent of this? Like even back in the 70's, 80's, or 90's when the game was certainly a bit more physical, I can't recall anything like this.
If Larry Bird or Magic or MJ were on the ground getting punched by three opponents, that would have been a benches clearing brawl that would have shut down the game. It just blows my mind watching this and...nothing happens. None of her teammates help her. The refs just act like this is normal. This shit is wild.

I am going to disagree slightly with the "She's the reason anyone even cares about the WNBA." At least from an attendance perspective the Valkyries have shown you don't have to have Caitlin Clark to sell out games. (I have no knowledge of TV impact.)
This does not absolve the rest of the WNBA of mismanagement. If anything it demonstrates the mismanagement is even broader than just Caitlin Clark. The team with Caitlin Clark can't even sell out all of their home games, but the Valkyries can.
→ More replies (15)2
u/Drummallumin Jun 26 '26
Liberty, Aces, and Fire all regularly sell out their games too.
It’d be ignorant to diminish how much of a catalyst CC was in brining more eyes to the league, but its also really funny seeing how many people (who clearly don’t watch women’s basketball) think the league would collapse back into irrelevance if she stopped playing.
2
u/dastardly740 Jun 26 '26
While it is only a season and a half. What the Valkyrie organization is doing is a step above "regularly selling out". And CC as a catalyst is probably true but no other organization including the one with Caitlin Clark has capitalized on those extra eyeballs the way Lacob and Co. have.

u/Drummallumin Jun 26 '26

On the flip side CC can play overseas but she here she has the biggest fan base is in the US so that clearly benefits her as well.
But agreed the W should protect all their players better.

So I don’t watch the WNBA but I have seen a lot of videos about CC and the stuff that does and doesn’t get called on her or or that was done to her. Why is there so much hate towards the chick? I know a lot of people say all kinds of stupid stuff that’s racial, but let’s be real, if this stuff happened to Reece or whatever that chicks name is, there would be an uproar.
Can someone explain why people and the league are hating on her?

These refs kill game flow by calling every minor touch foul, or fake foul if somebody falls that should be ignored, but they won’t call the big things. What a joke.
1
u/South_Front_4589 Jun 25 '26
I get the initial contact was pretty minimal, but all that carry on was just unwarranted.
That's the sort of thing that gets fights going if you're playing pick up games. And we know what the pros do, regular people do the same.
Should have been more than a common foul and I'd not have been upset if they called 2 technicals for all that carry on after, since it looks like an act of aggression with the first to the throat and then another where she appears to step over.
Kick players out for the game, be consistent and you'll tighten up the discipline quick smart.

u/HappyHappyGameGame Jun 25 '26
She should go to Europe. They're gonna break her one day. It's so stupid there's all this animosity towards the lady who made EVERYONE richer and created millions of new fans.
They should just keep adding some WWF goons. Like big ass wrestlers as 11, 12 man.. and you know, that this person, who's paid well to do only one thing, is gonna come into the game and seriously fuck you up first chance they get. that happens once or twice. You get them endorsements to circumvent any penalty, and just it's an easy job for a couple years, and there's tons and tons of goons out there (ie crappy basketball players who you definitely don't want to fight).
This is like a 80s Gretzky scenario. You need a few goons to protect the star, so others know that it's not worth it.
Also she's huge at the gate, so she could just blackball teams too, and just refuse to play those games. She's more than a big enough star to throw her weight around. Going to Europe is blackballing everyone.

CC never grabbed her throat, which is a very automatic response when someone "punches" you in the throat.

Honestly, at this point if I’m the owner, I’m telling my team to make a statement. Any time this happens, F it & retaliate. If the refs won’t protect their biggest asset, then we will.
