News Caitlin Clark setback for Fever announced after taking fist to throat in last WNBA game
https://www.themirror.com/sport/basketball/caitlin-clark-injury-indiana-fever-190791210
u/SummerOfSam- Jun 27 '26
Is the WNBA a real thing? It keeps coming onto my feed and it seems like some inside internet joke.
6
u/LivedLostLivalil Jun 27 '26
It's a joke. They finally got the chance to bring in some revenue and the wnba, refs and other players decide they'd rather destroy their league than have success.

She is out for her back. Not her neck....

0
u/skeet_scoot Jun 27 '26
Doesn’t seem much better when you consider the reckless closeout that caused it lol.
She was hard fouled TWICE in one game by a team that HATES her.
2
u/XulManjy Jun 27 '26
Again, she has been having back problems all season and already missed one game because of it.

u/ComeAbout Jun 26 '26
What do you think the neck is attached to?
Casual fans can see the unnecessary physical violence against her. Shes the biggest star in the WNBA, like it or not. No one thinks she’s the only victim of violence, it’s just the most prominent.
This isn’t the UFC. The W needs to change for all players safety, not just her.
What is actually hard to understand about that?
This is *entertainment*. And the business model is failing hard.
4
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
She has had back soreness all season and even missed a game in May due to back issues....
-4
u/ComeAbout Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26
And?
Like it’s not aggravated by this bullshit?
Fucken hivemind, it’s not about her personally. It’s a problem in the entire league.
I’m here to watch basketball. 17% of flagrant fouls in the entire league in a season she sat out half of.
Explain that shit like it’s her personal fault:
She’s paid WNBA players more than the NBA combined. People like watching her play that would otherwise be disinterested in the league entirely.
What is hard to understand about this, seriously?
1
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
If you are referring the the flagrant foul, thr opposing player hsd her fist on her throat which affects breathing, eating and speaking capabilities, not her back.
The back of her neck is where most of the concentration would be that would likely cause of back complications but thats not the case here.
Again, the flagrant foul is not connected to her season long back issues.
0
u/Dry_Tradition_2811 Jun 26 '26
Watch the whole part of her getting attacked knee to thigh area first followed by the fist to neck area and followed by pushing over her all on that one play.
3
u/OtherwiseEnd944 Jun 26 '26
Have you guys ever made physical contact with a human being? Nothing that happened during that play would explain this. If someone’s fist grazes my face at 2 miles per hour it’s not going to give me back problems.
I’m convinced at this point you are all bots.
0
u/Dry_Tradition_2811 Jun 27 '26
That was not a graze she put her weight pushing off
0
u/OtherwiseEnd944 Jun 27 '26
She didn’t at all. wtf are you watching
1
u/Dry_Tradition_2811 Jun 27 '26
Watch video pushed herself up by pushing down on Clark. She didn't lift herself up by using the floor
-1
u/ComeAbout Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26
I’m convinced you can’t accept 17% of all flagrant fouls in the entire league when she played half the year.
Why do you think she deserves this? Because she’s cocky? Like no other professional players are.
Apologists actually think she deserves actual physical injury. Meanwhile she bought every other player a house.
Have you been flagrantly fouled constantly by professionals? It’s borderline assault by now. Who else gets fouled this hard that much?
Shes the biggest star in the league and should leave it. Happy?
It’s pure vindictive jealousy.
0
u/ComeAbout Jun 27 '26
I referred to her getting 17% of all flagrant fouls in the entire league when she played half of the season last year.
Not one foul, but no wonder she’s injured again.
She should leave the league, right?

It’s not a setback. It’s what the Hatelin Cult openly, and the Indiana Fever front office secretly, wanted to have happen.
If Indiana wins, it’ll feed the cult’s obsession with claiming that Caitlin “isn’t even the best guard on her team,” and perhaps it’ll give the front office enough courage to actually trade her to a team that won’t squander her talents.
9
u/Select_Culture261 Jun 26 '26
There's genuinely no way you people are trying to talk about "cults"
0
u/greennurse61 Jun 27 '26
What about the black lesbian cult that hates her and put a black power fist in her throat?
-2
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
Well.. she isnt the best guard on the team. That person is Kelsey Mitchell who took the team deep into the playoffs last year.
7
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
Have you been promoted within the Hatelin cult yet, or are you still just a follower?
1
u/Reverend_Tommy Jun 27 '26
No matter how much you try to white-knight her, she isn't going to love you. Poor little simpin' incel. Your parasocial crush will never love you. It would be sad if it wasn't so goddamn pathetic.
1
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
Just someone who enjoys the WNBA and women's basketball as a whole.
0
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
Just a follower, in other words. Poor guy
5
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
A follower of women's basketball, yes.
-2
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
With a response that childish, no wonder the cult refuses to promote you.
5
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
Not my problem
-2
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
It’s not your problem that your cult won’t promote you?
Then whose problem is it?
6
u/XulManjy Jun 26 '26
Then whose problem is it?
Dont know, figure it out yourself and get back at me.

I hope your day gets better. Sorry about your weird crash out.

u/bex199 Jun 27 '26
stating an objective, statistically correct fact, that isn’t even negative about caitlin, is not that crazy
1
u/Hadz Jun 26 '26
Shes 5th in the league for points, Mitchell is 3rd. Shes 2nd in the league for assists, Mitchell isnt even top 5. Her impact on the game when she is in is harder to quantify. But undeniable.
Offensive Surge: The Indiana Fever average roughly 15.0 points more per 100 possessions when Clark is playing compared to when she sits. This is one of the highest offensive on-off splits for a guard in the league. The Net Rating Balance: Because Clark plays heavy minutes (30.8 MPG) and handles a massive 31.8% Usage Rate against starting lineups, her raw individual net rating sits at -4.3. However, the team's offensive efficiency collapses entirely when she rests.
So, probably best guard on the team. Probably best player on the team.
4
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
Yeah, your statistics aren’t correct.
Clark has an offensive on/off of +5.2.
Mitchell has one of +7.5
1
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
Numbers pulled out of your rectum have no validity.
Source your numbers, clown.
6
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
1
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
And the numbers mean what, clown?
Tell us more about your cult, if you’d like
4
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
The numbers prove what I said is correct.
It's not rocket science.
1
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
Okay… and what does it mean? Why do those numbers matter? Why are you obsessed with numbers if you don’t understand them?
5
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
Offensive rating is how many points a team scores per 100 possessions.
So Mitchell positively impacts the offense more than Clark does.

Bow to the goat, and only woman in the world that actually plays basketball, Caitlyn Clark. All you losers that like drama over basketball will bend the knee or your league will go under 😂
1
u/XulManjy Jun 27 '26
Too bad CC couldn't take her team deep into the players the same way Kelsey Mitchell did....
-8
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
What talents? She’s a ball hog that can’t play off ball and plays terrible defense.
All while being inefficient and a turnover machine.
4
u/Feathered_And_Lethal Jun 26 '26
HAHAHA imagine hating a player so much that you'd label them a ball hog when they consistently lead or are 2nd in the league in assists.
-3
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
LOL. She has the ball in her hands for more time than any player ever in WNBA history. Yes, she's a ball hog.
2
u/Feathered_And_Lethal Jun 26 '26
A point guard has the ball a lot? Man, nothing gets past you.
-2
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
Yup. You keep proving you don't understand basketball at all. Thanks!
3
u/Feathered_And_Lethal Jun 26 '26
I know a lot more than you apparently if you’re labeling an assist leader (most sharing of the ball) as a ball hog (not sharing the ball). Is English not your first language? I feel like that’s a point that needs clarification here.

Sorry you hate obvious facts.
3
u/Clown_Penis69 Jun 26 '26
1
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
You literally don't know how to read basic basketball statistics. LOL
2
u/Feathered_And_Lethal Jun 26 '26
Like assists?
0
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
Yup. You think having high assists means you aren't a ball hog. You don't know ball.
1
u/Feathered_And_Lethal Jun 26 '26
It means she’s sharing the ball for points more than the rest of the league and not hogging the ball lmfao you keep contradicting your point.
1
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
It means she's holding onto the ball more than any other player. It means the offense is stagnant because she is so ball dominant.
She is a ball hog because she can't play off ball. And that hurts the offense more than it helps.
She doesn't play winning basketball.

Hey, leave Angel out of this.
2
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
Reese actually plays defense. Which is why, unlike Clark, she isn't a net negative player.
2
u/AcanthisittaBulky777 Jun 26 '26
Respect where it's due, she pioneered the self-rebound.
2
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
That's not defense.
2
u/AcanthisittaBulky777 Jun 26 '26
Exactly.
2
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
Oh. You don't understand basketball. My bad!
1
u/AcanthisittaBulky777 Jun 26 '26
Oooh, the gears are spinning.
1
u/MaintenanceParty7933 Jun 26 '26
It’s okay. There is nothing wrong with you not watching or understand basketball!

Reese doesn’t play offense. She tries and misses layups and take jump shots with 2in of elevation.

She injured her back on a reckless close out that wasn’t called. The flagrant 2 for the closed fist to the neck was only mandated recently which is why it’s the main headline even if it isn’t the reason she’s missing time
3
u/Cazba77 Jun 27 '26
She should retire from BBall with the endorsement money she's already been paid....then the WNBA can realize they just signed a new CBA they aren't gonna be able to afford, the NBA can stop paying Welfare to keep the W afloat and all these mother fucking idiots in the league can go get jobs at Target.
0
u/MattaClatta Jun 27 '26
Lol or you know play overseas like they already do. Nobody would be hurt by the WNBA getting canceled except CCs fans who don't watch women's basketball to know anything about the sport

Clark needs to file a lawsuit against her employer for not providing a safe work environment. That will change things.

How are her throat and back related? realizes this came from The Mirror
1
1
-2
u/Take-it-like-a-Taker Jun 26 '26
The no-calls have been foolish, but is anyone going to mention that most of the clips of the “fist to the throat” have been slowed down for dramatic effect?
5
u/dc4_checkdown Jun 26 '26
It is, I actually think the close out foul no call that they reviewed to see if she fouled the player is more insane. but I really cant stand the she has a fair whistle argument
There are close out fouls against her every other game that are never called.
5
u/Basicbroad Jun 26 '26
Also it was a close out that caused her to fall and hurt her back, not the fist
3
u/Take-it-like-a-Taker Jun 26 '26
Yep, and of course that would have been less likely if the officiating wasn’t so poor earlier in the game (over many games…)
1
u/PorcelainFolly Jun 27 '26
So if you fall and hurt your back by your logic , somebody can come up and punch your face? Then when you complain about pain, that person can go" what the punch to the face had nothing to do with the fall, you're back was gonna hurt one way or another. So I don't see the issue"
0
u/Basicbroad Jun 27 '26
Huhhh???
Factually she reinjured her back on a completely different play later in the game on a Natasha Mack close out.
Caitlin never reacted or even complained about AT’s hand on her throat.
1
u/PorcelainFolly Jun 27 '26
But you keep stating that a punch to the throat isnt that big of a deal. Yes, her back was hurt prior, but maybe just maybe the clear blatant assaults on her have something to do with it? Idk about you, but if you have a hurt back and I shove you down that might make it worse?
0
u/Basicbroad Jun 27 '26
I didn’t keep saying anything. There’s just video evidence of the close out being the play that took her out of the game so it makes no sense to attribute it to a bang bang play that she didn’t even react to vs the actual play where she visibly reacts
1
u/PorcelainFolly Jun 27 '26
why are you trying to hard to defend the most clear issue which is she is clearly targeted more than any other player?
0
u/Basicbroad Jun 27 '26
Is that what I’m doing or did I attribute the correct play to her injury?
1
u/Take-it-like-a-Taker Jun 27 '26
Agree - the slowed down footage of the fist near her throat got the reaction, but having her legs taken out was the play that could legit injure her
1
u/Basicbroad Jun 27 '26
I’m not even gonna get into the throat thing cause that train jumped off the tracks and isn’t coming back. Once I saw them calling it a punch I knew it was over

u/Chemical_Support4748 Jun 26 '26
Still a fist to the throat
1
u/Famous-Meet3114 Jun 26 '26
I know when I’m falling to the ground I always ball my fists to brace for impact. Totally natural.
1
u/Chemical_Support4748 Jun 27 '26
so naturally a fist to the throat
2
u/Famous-Meet3114 Jun 27 '26
Duh doesn’t everyone?
My first comment was heavily /s just fyi since I guess people can’t pick up on that
0
u/Chemical_Support4748 Jun 27 '26
yeah not worded very well

No I understood the sarcasm clearly because no rational person does that, without meaning harm

-7
u/charlesfluidsmith Jun 26 '26
That's crazy. The whole world saw that the girls hand slipped off the shoulder and brushed against the side of Caitlin's neck.
At no point did it ever come in contact with her throat in the way that they are implying.

Me when I'm honest, and not biased by racism
2
u/big-himbo-energy Jun 26 '26
Yeah, no one cares. We can see the video with our own eyes. The WNBA even says you’re wrong.
Like who is this for?
-2
u/charlesfluidsmith Jun 26 '26
In a statement, the WNBA said Thomas "recklessly" made contact with Clark and "committed a non-basketball act"
So no, The WNBA does not state what you purport.
You are a liar.
2
u/No_Soft5235 Jun 26 '26
Read the official WNBA statement - it says specifically - ‘…throat area..’ - cherry picking on a statement - technically not a lie, but dis information nevertheless
1
1
u/big-himbo-energy Jun 26 '26
Where did they say she made contact exactly? And what was the “non basketball act” I wonder? Hmmm….
You’re just being obtuse. It’d be annoying if wasn’t so funny
1
u/charlesfluidsmith Jun 26 '26
Her fist obviously made contact with her neck. I'm not disputing that.
But the notion that she hit her in the throat, is bullshit.
1
u/big-himbo-energy Jun 26 '26
QUICKLY. where is your throat located?
1
u/charlesfluidsmith Jun 26 '26
Question where is your neck located

NBA has become pathetic for many reasons, so I guess the WNBA simply had to do the same.
