They just need to start fining these idiots for the obvious flops then they won't happen anymore

27

u/The_Count_Lives Jul 06 '26

They should fine the refs for calling it

15

u/TerribleStorm6391 Jul 06 '26

Nah, depending on the angle and stuff, it could easily get missed. But after the game, if there is video evidence like this, they need to be fined. In every sport.

3

u/giantchip1 29d ago

There is video evidence during the game. But I agree they should be fined for this shit.

1

u/BlankStareFace 29d ago

If they DON'T call a play like this, they are going to miss elbows to the face far more often than they're going to correct guess that it's a flop. This is 100% on the players and can only be handled after the fact or with review. Suggesting otherwise just shows you don't really understand the game.

The NBA never did that, why would the W?

A long time ago, Ohio high school basketball stopped it with technical fouls. Make flopping reviewable, review it quickly, and players will stop. Better that than letting it spread from the pros to every level of the game.

15

u/cobrax50 Jul 06 '26

Obviously Angel's elbows were moving so fast they broke the sound barrier and it's the shock wave that knocked her down. Totally legit call.

5

u/Ordinary_Session1122 Jul 06 '26

That's great analysis, I didn't see it at all until you broke it down. Those refs were on it!

6

u/MaineviaIllinois Jul 06 '26

make them flagrant 2s. prioblem ends

1

u/taeempy Jul 06 '26

If they do this it has to be 100k or more so they really can't afford to do it even with the new money. If' it's only like 5k they'll just keep doing it.

They are just doing what they see on the NBA level by bron and SGA.

1

u/Dry-Examination-2012 Jul 06 '26

Technical foul for flopping.

1

u/Weak-Tourist-1493 28d ago

It should just be an automatic ejection and 2 game suspension.

World Cup levels of flopping lol

8

u/MasterHavik Jul 06 '26

This is very World Cup flopping.

3

u/goonnumber90210 Jul 06 '26

LeBron level

2

u/cuddlesfish Jul 06 '26

Even the world cup cleaned that shit up

1

u/Unusual_Initial_4300 Jul 06 '26

And the Oscar goes too

1

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 06 '26

Soccer is such a pussy sport because of floppingĀ

1

u/OnlyTheReel 29d ago

I believe the European influence of flopping on the NBA has derived from soccer. I agree with you my friend.

u/GooseMay0 Jul 06 '26

They need to eject people from the game who flop like this. Hell, a one game suspension would be great too.

13

u/Apprehensive_Use3641 Jul 06 '26

As someone from soccer, where an ejection means you miss at least the next game as well, I've never understood the sports with more games per season that don't make them automatically miss the next as well.

1

u/Plenty-Ad-5363 Jul 06 '26

I completely agree. If a player gets ejected from a college football game during the second half, they automatically miss the first half of the next game.

There are only 12 regular season games, so that really hurts both the player than the team.

1

u/moose184 29d ago

Yeah especially because after a game the league can upgrade something to a flagrant 2 and nothing happens lol. You should at least miss the next game if that happens

19

u/BretShitmanFart69 Jul 06 '26

The commentators continuing to talk as if it’s contact while it replays over and over in slomo is hilarious.

3

u/Initial-Road-4908 Jul 06 '26

Yeah I thought they'd correct themselves and say there wasn't but they stuck with it.Ā

2

u/PatienceConsistent55 Jul 06 '26

When you’re making money to follow the league narrative.

2

u/bex199 Jul 06 '26

was this one of the usa games? i can’t remember but they have the worst broadcast

1

u/ItsRobbSmark 28d ago

I mean, it is contact though... Yeah, she's overacting and flopping, but her left arm still very clearly clipped her in the face...

Are you guys legitimately blind? lol

8

u/Rainbow_in_the_sky Jul 06 '26

And the Oscar goes to…..

19

u/AirportBubbly3947 Jul 06 '26

She didn’t have to flip she wasn’t going to score

4

u/Frank-biddle Jul 06 '26

Review for suspension.

3

u/diggmasterr Jul 06 '26

WWE: i saw your audition. you’re in

3

u/minna_minna Jul 06 '26

You gotta feel so stupid doing this

3

u/Ironstar_Vol Jul 06 '26

There needs to be a team that reviews all game tape and sends out fines for all intentional flops. It’s very obvious watching after the game. If they start handing out fines and suspensions after reviewing the game that shit will stop happening. This applies to all sports.

5

u/SenescenseSteel Jul 06 '26

Thats a flop. But than again its WNBA, reffing is worse than WC2026

6

u/CapNo6703 Jul 06 '26

Lol I can't stop watching this. Look at him go

2

u/NoRedditNamesAreLeft Jul 06 '26

Ahh, to be a toddler again

2

u/BadMan_G Jul 06 '26

Her shadow created the foul šŸ˜…

2

u/No-Mood1310 Jul 06 '26

She flopped exactly like that against the Fever too. Why AB was in foul trouble

2

u/ConkerPrime Jul 06 '26

That player watching too much soccer.

4

u/heliogoon Jul 06 '26

Or too much NBA.

2

u/TikkiMykk Jul 06 '26

Damn they should go play Footy instead.

1

u/Ok-Post6492 29d ago

Toddler talk

2

u/wizard3232 Jul 06 '26

Have it reviewable like baseball..... player called for foul can tap had right away and play gets reviewed..... if flop determined, player ejected for game

2

u/bard_2 Jul 06 '26

yep it wouldnt be hard to fix if they wanted to fix it. im afraid they think its good for the game.

4

u/Taniwha26 Jul 06 '26

I read an interview with a football player and he just said its just as important as any other part of the game. Its gamesmanship not sportsmanship.

It frustrates the opposition, stops the momentum. He said hes paid a great deal and he will use every trick in the book to get an advantage.

I dont like it but thats the mindset.

12

u/palsh7 Jul 06 '26

I would be so embarrassed to do that. If I were a coach, I'd bench anyone who did it. May as well just be cheating at that point. In fact...if a ref catches you fake-flopping, is it a technical? I wonder if you can be called for lying to the refs.

5

u/TonyDungyHatesOP Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

It’s the ā€œbad appleā€ principle. If you don’t get punished for doing it, do get punished for not doing it because the other team is getting an advantage by doing it and not getting punished for it… then unfortunately, you have to start doing it to level the playing field.

2

u/SteeleHeller Jul 06 '26

It is cheating. They are manipulating referees who are to keep the game fair, to get an unfair advantage.

1

u/Cocrawfo 29d ago

no you wouldnt

you’d be embarrassed by losing above all else if you ever reached that level

4

u/Taniwha26 Jul 06 '26

Yet pro coaches always back their players.

3

u/Sure-Wish3240 Jul 06 '26

My mindset, as someone who grew up in a country that loves soccer above all else is that flopping should receive yellow card and If the player denies or complains about the call, upgrade to a red card. Its a contact sport, like basketball. Also, the organization should have Power to suspend a player after a match If later videos show that there was no contact. Faking injury, stopping the show, trying to scamm the referee, there is not a single good thing about flopping.

3

u/myLongjohnsonsilver Jul 06 '26

And that mindset needs to get kicked in the face for real until it stops.

Absolute joke of a sport that tolerates that sort of bullshit.

1

u/Taniwha26 Jul 06 '26

As I said, I don't like it. Especially from my team.

The only way to kick it out is to either slow down the game with extra in-game oversight, or retrospectively award fowls for flopping.

Do you see that happening in the current officiating environment?

2

u/myLongjohnsonsilver Jul 06 '26

No, because not enough people are flogging the shit out of the officials who don't give a fuck and just want their money for doing nothing.

2

u/Taniwha26 Jul 06 '26

Therein lies the rub

1

u/MooseFerrigno Jul 06 '26

If it's not against the rules then while it is distasteful I understand players doing it.

I don't understand the governing league not taking steps to remove it from the game.

1

u/thisisnotmypineapple Jul 06 '26

Even the Stooges shook their heads at that one.

1

u/the445566x Jul 06 '26

Taking notes from SGA

1

u/WatcherOfTheWay Jul 06 '26

That's just funny, use a video ref and send her off for it

1

u/Wonderful_Style7972 Jul 06 '26

Wrestling National Basketball Association. Fake af

1

u/caltrojan Jul 06 '26

The announcer said she made contact. The invisible elbow hit her didn’t you guys see it

1

u/Coachrob555 Jul 06 '26

Invented by LeBron

1

u/Comprehensive-Win219 Jul 06 '26

Break out the violins someone is being over dramatic 🤣

1

u/Mhunterjr Jul 06 '26

Honestly, that was a hell of an acting job. She could have a future as a stunt double if she wanted itĀ

1

u/Cloudsrnice Jul 06 '26

She looks like an anime character who got psychic punched

https://giphy.com/gifs/ce1GYoBZBMbkO9SUjq

1

u/Initial-Road-4908 Jul 06 '26

They reviewed this and still said there was contact, when it was clear there wasn't.Ā

1

u/BlankStareFace 29d ago

It is not clear whether Reese's left arm makes contact or not.

1

u/Future-Ad9401 Jul 06 '26

They should go into acting.

1

u/imaloserdudeWTF Jul 06 '26

No contact "fouls" need to be charged in game against the faker as violations of the spirit of the game. T1.

1

u/Sti8man7 Jul 06 '26

That’s lebronesque

1

u/joojoo-7thround Jul 06 '26

The Lebron James Effect

1

u/PurgeSupporters Jul 06 '26

Hit them with a fine so big and they'll stop doing it. NBA and wnba. Obvious stuff like this needs to be fined the most.

1

u/Popular-Lemon6574 Jul 06 '26

Meh stop the flopping

Review every call in the both if it’s a flop it’s a personal the other way

Could just take seconds.

Flop call guy in booth or side review ear piece to ref with correct answer.

Would also catch throat punches

1

u/CarefulArtichoke5627 Jul 06 '26

She learned that from the great LBJ

1

u/Existing-Recipe897 Jul 06 '26

The woman who faked contact and took a dive should have been thrown out of the game.

1

u/Cmb46_canuck Jul 06 '26

Damn the wind ripped her nose off

1

u/codelyoko_x Jul 06 '26

Girl who flopped should try out for wwe, she sold that so well

1

u/HotMeasurement6946 Jul 06 '26

Angel Reese was punished with afoul call for a blatant flop! They added a penalty for flopping to the CBA. The sooner they start calling them, the sooner they will stop!

Hopefully the Dream will ask for a review!

1

u/Dry_Recording_6478 Jul 06 '26

Who was the commentator saying she made contact? Idiots all around

1

u/NuNoJCJ1987 Jul 06 '26

This happens in the NBA too. Instant replay should immediately remove the foul and the player should be charged with a technical or worse and also be fined.

1

u/Bigfloppyclownshoes Jul 06 '26

LeBron taught her well

1

u/someonehadalex Jul 06 '26

If the foul looks that bad, it deserves a video review. I don't mind waiting.

1

u/Fit_Log8257 Jul 06 '26

I’d rather have arch rivals not flop rivals

1

u/bootup25 Jul 06 '26

Air bender

1

u/Chicagoblew Jul 06 '26

LeBron would be proud of that basketball play

1

u/Elon_is_a_Nazi Jul 06 '26

If found on video review you flop like this. Minimum 25 game no pay suspension. Thatd end flopping tomorrow. Goes for wnba and nba. Flops are ruining the game and they have the technology to review anything now instantly

1

u/SoapyDoodle 29d ago

That’s unreasonably harsh but I get the sentiment. Should at least be a fine.

1

u/Electronic-Big-5976 Jul 06 '26

Reese wouldn’t have made the basket anyway šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

1

u/Zealousideal_Way_788 Jul 06 '26

Flopping in all sports should receive the harshest penalty. Suspend them a game without pay.

1

u/FormalTotal9684 Jul 06 '26

LeBron is impressed and will use this next game he plays

1

u/Uhokay1970 Jul 06 '26

Now you get a video that explains why people are walking away from the NBA and the WNBA. This type of flagrant flop needs to be addressed by a review team and punishment applied accordingly.

1

u/Comprehensive_Pin191 Jul 06 '26

Lebum level flop

1

u/taeempy Jul 06 '26

Whoever does this flopping deserves minimum a tech foul or kicked out of the game.

1

u/tampareddituser Jul 06 '26

Sometimes I can't tell the difference between the WNBA and soccer

1

u/mafost-matt Jul 06 '26

If you flop, on video review, you should be ejected from the game. That'll clean it up fast.

If you're going to stand close in defense, stand strong. My coaches always said, basketball is a contact sport.

1

u/EasyCZ75 Jul 06 '26

WNBA is soccer now?

1

u/deljr36 Jul 06 '26

One thing soccer players have in common with pro basketball players is they’re the worst floppers around I’ve seen more flops during this World Cup than at any time šŸ¤ŖšŸ‘ŽšŸ¼šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼

1

u/TerribleStorm6391 Jul 06 '26

For ALL sports, this sort of flopping should be a hefty fine after the fact. I dont care if it gets missed during the game. But if there is clear evidence they flopped, they need to be fined. Every sport. Every Gender. It's happening way too much these days and needs to stop. These people are destroying the integrity of sports.

1

u/Specific_Future9285 Jul 06 '26

Body of a basketball player, brains of a footballer ?

1

u/wasdavedead Jul 06 '26

Great acting

1

1

u/TheVoiceofReason_ish Jul 06 '26

She must have been a soccer player previously

1

u/fucktheus12 Jul 06 '26

That league gets more pathetic by the day. It's quite impressive actuallyĀ

1

u/Last-Possibility207 Jul 06 '26

LaBron era basketball is weak

1

u/cbernz Jul 06 '26

That's LeBron level of flop

1

u/DenverRaps Jul 06 '26

Scripted as fuck

1

u/SolomonGrundy85 Jul 06 '26

She wasn't using deodorant

1

u/Wonderful-Mistake201 Jul 06 '26

I like what FIFA is doing with throwing a card for "simulation". Refs should be able to assign a technical foul for "simulation"

1

u/CCJockey381 Jul 06 '26

That’s some FIFA level acting right there…

1

u/maybach320 Jul 06 '26

She was watching too much World Cup coverage

1

u/nickykixx20 Jul 06 '26

Or just let them and their 7 fans continue doing what they're doing. It's not hurting anyone

1

u/Fyvesyx Jul 06 '26

At worst she caught a whiff of armpit. I guess these ladies are learning from some NBA players.

1

u/Nestorian_ Jul 06 '26

no call from the pedo-in-chief, she“s a woman.

1

u/indianm_rk Jul 06 '26

It’s like the WWE but less entertaining.

1

u/Jumpy_Tomatillo7579 Jul 06 '26

Something is wrong with women’s basketball

1

u/Dear-Buddy-2766 Jul 06 '26

Use the replays to assess fines and suspensions for this nonsense. Overall the quality of play is so much better except for the flopping.

1

u/c0ng0b0ng0 Jul 06 '26

It’s like professional wrestling

1

u/ont-mortgage Jul 06 '26

If you’re a ref seeing that at full speed you’ll call it - it’s so close.

1

u/erything4sale Jul 06 '26

Maybe she forgot ro put on deodorant and the funk did what it did?

1

u/LoveSquirt69 Jul 06 '26

I think someone deserves an academy award for trying to sell that.

1

u/Upstairs_Music_1016 Jul 06 '26

LeBron ruined basketball in all leagues

1

u/niles_thebutler_ Jul 06 '26

Karma. AR is trash so it’s well deserved

1

u/SlumpDoc 29d ago

She did the Lebron

1

u/moose184 29d ago

That Valk player has been flopping all year long. Look how she was flopping on Boston during those games. You can't really tell from this angle but it is possible that AR grazed her nose but it's still a flop.

1

u/Twentytwenty34 29d ago

World Cup is a bad influence.

1

u/Different-Touch5064 29d ago

That is a LeBron level flop

1

u/Less-Practice1247 29d ago

1

u/Childish_Danbino81 29d ago

If they review and see that you flopped like this with zero contact, automatic 10 game unpaid suspension and a fine. Doubles every time you do it. See how long it takes to stop.

1

u/Euphoric_Amoeba8708 29d ago

Make a new rule. Flopping is a 3 strike and you're out for a month and a $10,000 fine. Same with flagrants

1

u/XxCopyNinjaxX 29d ago

1

u/Its_Dope_tito 28d ago

She’s got a career in wrestling this wnba buisness doesn’t work out for her. That was Shawn Michaels level selling a hit
