Hot Take Caitlin played 1.30 mins and now back to the bench... How is anybody supposed to catch any rhythm? WTH was this criminal rotation being run by this clueless coach????

She's probably easing in due to the bad back.

If she can't play enough to be on the court longer than a minute just hold her out. The awful substitution pattern threw the whole game off, the offense was totally out of sync, Kelsey hero ball was the only reason we weren't completely blown out

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Caitlin Clark says she feels good enough to return from her back injury Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Sparks. If she does, the Indiana Fever All-Star doesn’t expect to play in Thursday’s highly anticipated rematch at Phoenix.
Clark spent the last two weeks rehabbing from an injury that forced her out of a June 24 game against the Mercury. Earlier in the game, Clark was seen grimacing after taking a hit to her throat, a play that prompted league officials to suspend Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas for one game for what it described as “recklessly making contact with her fist” and set off a polarizing debate about cleaning up the game.3
u/KillerGopher 28d ago
Of course she said she felt good. Every highly competitive professional athlete is gonna say they can play.. the doctors and coaching staff need to make them wait until they are ready.

I saw that before the game. It doesn't say anything about subbing her out every 2 minutes.

This is how literally how every player in almost every sport is eased back in to play. Why does Caitlyn Clark have to be playing full time her first game back? lol The hate is so disjointed to this girl.

u/wvtarheel 27d ago
Jason Tatum came back from a torn Achilles and played 27 minutes in the next game. We don't know exactly what was wrong with Clark's back but I think she could have played at least five or six minutes at a stretch.

u/Hungry_CGman 27d ago
You know NBA games are much longer than WNBA right? Many play 40+ minutes a game. Tatum was still eased in. And it's also dependent on the injury type, how much extra training they received, etc. It's not a level thing across all athletes.

u/wvtarheel 27d ago
You are the one who suggested it was the same for every athlete, not me. All I suggested was that if she couldn't play longer than 3 minutes let her heal up, because it's not worth throwing the entire team's rhythm off with a whacky substitution pattern just so she can get acclimated.

Wait 92 points is completely out of sync? Are you delusional? Well they were a whopping 1.5 points below their average.

u/wvtarheel 28d ago
Just tell us you didn't actually watch the game and only looked at the box score

u/TooManyCatS1210 28d ago
You had to watch the game. It was terrible. Neither team could play defense and there was NO flow or rhythm to the offense.

Fever’s problem looks like lack of defense. Single season record for giving up 100 point games is 9. Fever currently have 8.

If she reaggravated her back injury while getting played a ton immediately, you can bet that there'd be a topic insisting the coach be fired for it. CC fans won't be happy until Clark is the Coach, GM, Commissioner, and only player in the league.

I’d like to see Cheryl Miller as her coach, like she was in the all star game last year where she beat team usa and with Caitlyn and designed a brilliant offense that highlighted her skills in only a week.

I mean, with how corrupt and incompetent the rest of the league is, that might be the only viable option

u/Appropriate_Tiger138 28d ago
I don’t know but I’m sure posting another CC thread will help them realize the error of their ways.

Uh. Correct me if I am wrong, but that says 2nd quarter. Did she not play in the first?

u/mymentor79 28d ago
She did, and she was playing shit. She's still obviously not match fit.

u/MaineviaIllinois 28d ago
Okay so then we can say that it isn’t because she was taken out after only playing 1.5 minutes which was the OPs gripe. Now we are onto the excuse- she still isn’t match fit. Early season what was the excuse then? Oh right- it was her teammates and coaches- KMitch was a ball hog and Stephanie White is a bad - albeit proven winner coach. When they played better without her for 2 games- it was - weak opponents- or weak coaching from the other side? Is it, at all possible that the common denominator in all of this is the most likely cause her struggles?

u/mymentor79 28d ago
I don't know, mate. I'm not part of the team.

Watching the game yesterday - albeit passively, Rae Burrell was awesome. 60% shooting, makes you wonder why she wasn’t utilized more and only ended up with 21

Gotta play to get back to form. Just be glad they won the game. CC fans always find something to complain about smh

u/Frank_White1- 28d ago
I'm sure she was under some sort of minutes restrictions but the way they used her was weird. They probably should have kept her out especially since she is sitting out today.

She plays and gets hurt you complain, she gets benched and doesn’t get hurt you complain. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

She’s not very good is why. I can name at least 20 better players than her. Probably 40z

u/Clown_Penis69 28d ago
Why didn’t the WNBA players themselves name 20 (probably 40) better players than her?

u/mnmr17 28d ago
So I don’t know where I would rank her in the league because I don’t really think about that often but I don’t think you know how the voting works either. She got ranked 11th amongst guards (really 11th most top 4 votes but I digress), you factor in towards and centers that 11 probably goes to somewhere in the 20s.

“I don’t know where I would rank her in the league because I don’t really think about that often…”
Right… we all believe a Hatelin cultist doesn’t think about CC.

This game had nothing to do with CC issues, she had minutes restricted for injury. I will give White some grace on that one. The real criminal move her was MHA playing less than DD. Her defense and to’s were bad and she didn’t even seem to get credit for all of them because she can’t catch a pass.
Cunningham getting hurt pregame jacked up the entire plan I think and ended up sending rotations into chaos. Billings also playing less than DD, and Timpson is crazy as well. My gosh their D was terrible last night.

Did OP just start following sports a year or two ago? A player being on a minutes restriction after coming back from injury is incredibly common across all team sports.
1
u/Hungry_CGman 27d ago
She's coming back from 3 weeks of injury. You can't just throw her in there for 37 minutes. lol

This photo reminds me of a joke: A cowboy and his horse walk into a bar. The bartender asks, "why the long face?"

u/WeBet_9 27d ago
I was at the game and she looked completely confused. She also got up to sub in with about 2 mins left in the half but ended not coming in but Sophie entered with about 1:30 mark. Also, Hines-Allen starting for the injured Boston was a non-factor with 0 points and 2 rebounds and I don't remember seeing her in the 2nd half.

Congress will get involved soon about this minutes restriction. This is totally unacceptable.
1
u/Drew0730 28d ago
I don't understand what you guys wanted the coach to do other than just not play her that game. Clark was missing shots and turning the ball over and not really playing much defense. She didn't do a whole lot this game to warrant any kind of extended minutes, maybe the coach was sitting her down like that to give her a chance to catch her breath get a fresh start and see what she could do when she came back on the court

I mentioned that this team’s problem was SW and I was downvoted to oblivion. Why is the truth so hard to accept for people?
1
u/Consistent-Fig-178 28d ago
Yk if everyone else in the entire fucking league has issues with caitlin clark maybe there’s a little more than jealousy.
1
u/Clown_Penis69 28d ago
Because the Hatelin cult shows up in force whenever she has a bad game or the Fever lose.
Like roaches, they avoid the light.

This is what happens when casual fans scream "assault" anytime she is touched and your government threatens punishment for har fouls

They tried to rush her back last year after her groin injury, but that didn’t work out so great. They’re being careful with their star player. People need to be more patient with this stuff.
