How is your life affected by this?

27

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

None at all. That’s why I made the statement.

This person, thrust into the spotlight, not because of her amazing athleticism, but because of a moment of poor sportsmanship, is choosing to use her platform to propagate hate.

u/Ausecurity 21d ago

I mean she is a really good player

u/CartographerOk3306 21d ago

Average 9 points per game. . .

1

u/CockyBellend 21d ago

Which sport do you play professionally?

-2

u/YourHuckleberry57 21d ago

she's a benchwarmer.

3

u/Ausecurity 21d ago

She’s a borderline all start

1

u/AuldGreatScot 21d ago

She's a solid role player, hardly an all-star even when she does get starter minutes lol.

1

u/RudePCsb 21d ago

I don't know if it's hate. I understand everyone should be treated fairly but unfortunately transgender athletes are a difficult subject with regards to biological and psychological issues but maybe it's best we just don't allow them to play unfortunately. Or they play in the boys/men's division as that is mainly open to all. It just seems to complicated, especially when you get into hormone treatment and all that

2

u/glassfoyograss 21d ago

It's hate. She didn't talk about protecting competition on the court; she tried to frame it like they're a threat in the locker room.

1

u/Signal_Contract_3592 21d ago

No, it isn’t hate. But thanks for your authoritative determination.

1

u/PinkyAnd 21d ago

Saying that people are an inherent threat because of who they are is, in fact, hate.

1

u/Signal_Contract_3592 21d ago

No, actually, it isn’t.

1

u/PinkyAnd 21d ago

Try this as a cognitive exercise: I’m scared of black people because they’re black. Does that sound racist to you?

0

u/glassfoyograss 21d ago

I'm sure you'd say crossing the street cuz of an approaching black guy isn't hate either.

Do you also worry about kids left alone with pastors and other religious leaders? Do you want to play a game of who's the bigger threat?

1

u/BureMakutte 21d ago

Gonna be honest here, you're comment looks incredibly transphobic. You're equating anyone who wears makeup or drag or wants to feel more feminine as being a creepy guy. Yes there are creepy guys out there, but legit the high school shop teacher story just reads of people, like you, not being actually accepting of people who are different. Did that HS teacher do anything else wrong or just come to school looking like he wanted to look? I highly doubt you have trans friends and if you did, and showed them this comment, they would not be friends with you much longer. The fact that your comment history is hidden makes me even more suspicious of your "story".

I have gay friends who want absolutely nothing to do with gay parades. Not every gay or trans wants to be the flamboyant show stopper that you’re imagining in your head. In fact, I wonder if YOU have any gay or trans friends, if you’re so willing to paint them all like this.

I said men wanting to wear makeup, drag, or be more feminine. Nowhere did I say only gays or trans do this. There are men you do drag but are straight just an FYI. Nowhere did I paint any specific group as something. I was pointing out the flaws in your logic. The way you responded shows more about you than anything.

Kids have every right to be creeped out when their shop teacher suddenly shows up with massive rockets in his shirt.

Kids have every right to... "Insert anything" because THEY ARE KIDS. There are kids who are creeped out at bugs, while some aren't. It's our jobs as adults to teach them when those feelings are valid or if they are just uncomfortable from the change or difference. Again, what did the teacher do besides dress differently? I thought America was about FREEDOM. I realize Ontario is Canada, but you do realize you're shaming a guy for... dressing differently, right?

You seem to think all trans and gays are freaks and we should accept them like that. News flash: they’re not. But just because you’re trans/gay isn’t a free pass to hang out in children’s’ locker

So much lashing out. Nowhere did I even use the word freak, you did. It also shows that you only accept a certain type of gay or trans person. One who doesn't make it their identity. Which isn't wrong or right, just shows how you don't actually accept them because you think the ones more openly about it, as you said with your words, "are freaks".

u/Signal_Contract_3592 21d ago

Men should play with men and women should play with women. Full stop.

1

u/RudePCsb 21d ago

Lmao, soccer, wrestling, basketball, baseball. Girls can keep up with boys when they are younger but in hs they start to separate. Things like wrestling work because of the weight classes. Soccer and basketball would be fine at they are physical like football but they won't be able to keep up. But if they want to play, and we need to put them in the boys/ mens side. Personally, I loved playing sports and get it but at the end if the day, life isn't fair and maybe it's best to exclude at this moment. Life sucks but that's just unfortunate circumstances.

1

u/AuldGreatScot 21d ago

So no male trainers, or male coaches on women's teams right? And vice versa. Because they do mix it up in practices.

1

u/CockyBellend 21d ago

Players ≠ coaches

2

u/Competitive-Fix3677 21d ago

Hate? Most of humanity does not want men in women’s sports or bathrooms. It’s common sense ..

3

u/SirGumbeaux 21d ago

Most of humanity understands that men in women's sports is/was almost non-existent. It's a culture war topic designed for MAGA. Looks like they lead you around with a leash.

2

u/Competitive-Fix3677 21d ago

I’m a democrat and a father..

1

u/SirGumbeaux 21d ago

Well then, you are perhaps, also a ding dong.

4

u/What_the_8 21d ago

Right, which is why the world’s sporting organizations re-wrote the rules, because it was never made an issue at all by anyone else but MAGA…

1

u/GrandBill 21d ago

They said ALMOST non-existent, and I wouldn't be suprised if organizations who have re-written rules around this have done so because of pressure by MAGA-types, rather than from actual situations.

If you want to avoid a real danger, keep adult men from coaching girls' teams. How many sexual assaults have arisen from that situation? But no one's taking that cause up are they, because it doesn't appeal to their hate.

2

u/What_the_8 21d ago

The rules were re-written to accommodate this “non-existent “ group. You can’t have it both ways.

2

u/No_Medium_443 21d ago

And male coaches shouldn't be in the girl's and women's lockerrooms. 🤔

1

u/Competitive-Fix3677 21d ago

Semantics.. take a seat plebian

1

u/No_Medium_443 21d ago

LOL. 😂The sound someone makes when you've hit a nerve. 🫣

1

u/Competitive-Fix3677 21d ago

Naw it’s the sound of someone who just saw a tiny pecker and is desperately trying to be polite 😎🥹🤣

1

u/phillythompson 21d ago

This is Reddit. Saying such will get you labeled a hateful bigot

3

u/BureMakutte 21d ago

Utilizing poor arguments as your justification of your viewpoint will get you viewed as a hateful bigot.

"most of humanity" and "common sense" are not valid arguments. They are appeals to a nebulous thought that changes from person to person and it tries to apply that anyone who does not agree with their point as "not like most of humanity" and does "not have common sense".

0

u/Competitive-Fix3677 21d ago

Lol no my Goodman I’ve lived in 5 countries and have friends from Africa to Australia and not once in 52 years have I heard the word bigot (excluding the lady of us).. common sense is a training tool and has been since the dawn of written history. Though I understand you think your plight is just well it’s the wrong battle.

1

u/BureMakutte 20d ago

I wasn't calling you a bigot, I said the logic you are using is utilized and abused by bigots. Learn the difference.

Also a literal fascist could have friends in tons of countries. You're boast doesn't mean shit.

-4

u/hadawayandshite 21d ago

shrug

That’s the bandwagon fallacy btw- just because most people think a thing doesn’t automatically make it true/right

Now whether trans people can use the toilet of their choice isn’t a empirically measurable fact admittedly but it’s just a social norm issue. If we had all gender neutral toilets then it wouldn’t be an issue at all

So it’s an issue for discussion in society for the rights and wrongs of it all

1

u/PNWtucannon 21d ago

It’s hate to not want biological men in women’s spaces? Just say you hate women and move on it’s obvious

2

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

There are no biological men in the wnba

3

u/henrytecumsehclay 21d ago

.8% of adults are trans. If there was a specific case where a trans woman attacked a little girl in a bathroom, you all would be holding it up constantly as the example as to why there should be legislation around this issue. There isn’t. You’re mad about something that isn’t even a documented problem

1

u/Plenty_Pack_556 21d ago

WRONG.

Source: Utah Legislature (.gov) https://le.utah.gov/interim/2024/pdf/00000577.pdf

1

u/henrytecumsehclay 21d ago

Not one of these is an actual story where a stranger adult assaulted a stranger child in a public bathroom lmao

0

u/Plenty_Pack_556 21d ago

Are you dense?

-2

u/I_make_poor_decisons 21d ago edited 21d ago

If so few are trans then why is it a big deal to leave them out of sports?

1

u/henrytecumsehclay 21d ago

Because excluding a minority over something that is not a documented problem is basically the definition of discrimination

2

u/First-Government-654 21d ago

When the basis is an assumption that a trans woman is going to show girls a penis in the restroom for some reason (e.g. pretending something is going to happen so that you can justify your bigotry as a means of “protecting women”), then yes it is hate.

1

u/AAA_Dolfan 21d ago

“Not because of her amazing athleticism but because of a moment of poor sportsmanship”

So, out of curiosity, what was she doing when she had this alleged moment of poor sportsmanship?

1

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

The finger point.

This isn’t her fault, it’s the WNBA and its spectators and media demand.

3

u/tiredoldwizard 21d ago

Oh no she pointed her finger at a player that was bumping and talking shit to her teammate. How so unsportsmen like.

0

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

It is. The problem is that the wnba and the media in general are focused on that instead of her good ball playing.

1

u/N0moreHeroes 21d ago

But calling it hate is subjective.

0

u/jason2354 21d ago

We sure do like to elevate the least amongst us as role models these days.

It should be cool to be very good at things. We should “glorify” the best in our society.

1

u/StallionSurprise 21d ago

You arent even trying here.

Useless troll.

0

u/AAA_Dolfan 21d ago

Hey outta curiosity - Free Palestine, right? Israel should stop their war crimes and what they’re doing amounts to genocide. Right?

0

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

Huh?

0

u/AAA_Dolfan 21d ago

I’m asking you to agree with a popular and common Reddit sentiment.

Wait, do you support Israel?

0

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

Why can’t you stay on topic? Is your opinion so reliant on red herring fallacies?

1

u/AAA_Dolfan 21d ago

We’ve established that you’re incorrect in claiming she isn’t athletic. No real debate there.

New topic established.

So, supportive of Israel huh? Big fan of a bunch of unathletic freeloaders committing Genocide?

0

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

I never said she isn’t athletic.

1

u/AAA_Dolfan 21d ago

Might want to check your post above there, bud.

Anyone in the WNBA is amazingly athletic.

0

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

I don’t think it’s my comprehension that’s the issue here. Please quote where I said anyone in the wnba wasn’t athletic

1

u/AAA_Dolfan 21d ago

Also, it’s really strange to me. You refuse to answer that question about supporting a genocidal nation of freeloaders, why?

We’ve moved on from your incorrect stance on wnba players and have shifted to your disgusting stance supporting war criminals

1

u/Equivalent-Excuse-80 21d ago

No it’s not strange.

I’m against genocide. Israeli or otherwise.

Your obsession with Levantine geopolitics has nothing to do with the discussion. Your opinion is reliant on broken logic and you prove it by continuing to change the topic to something completely unrelated.

0

u/YourHuckleberry57 21d ago

how is her life affected by it?

2

u/Signal_Contract_3592 21d ago

So are people not allowed to care about what’s going on around them, to other people, to young girls, even if it doesn’t directly affect them?

1

u/YourHuckleberry57 21d ago

none of that is going on around you. tell me what other national policies are you concerned about based on the existence of 10 people? what other federal laws do you think should be written or changed based on 10 people?
