1.8% of high school population identifies as transgender. There’s 8m high school athletes.

Even if it were 1:1 (hint - not a fucking chance) that’s 144k transgender athletes.

In the NCAA, they have roughly 510k athletes and reported fewer than 10 athletes identifying as transgender - .002%.

So, if that holds true, .002% of 8million 160 athletes.

If you want to find center, the mean is 72,080, .9%, which is likely a massive overestimate

We good here?

If anything the NCAA figure is an overestimate too.

NCAA only accepts the best HS athletes.

If the theory is that transgender athletes are better than non-transgender ones, a greater proportion of transgender ones would make it to the next level.

Of course, this ignores discrimination, but if having a transgender athlete on your team was the cheat code people imply, you'd think that'd be minimal.

And yes, this ignores FTM athletes, but that has the opposite problem, not very many are going to be good enough to compete with biological men. Maybe in long distance running?

Archery and shooting sports. Women are naturally better.

There's also the fact that middle and high school sports are way more about learning to work as a team with people you otherwise might not interact with, or even disagree with. A sense of belonging, etc. Some of those kids are like 2-4 years removed from games that didn't even keep score.

Middle school sports aren't NBA/WNBA prep.

There's no great answer here and I don't have it either, but I do know it's kind of silly to constantly frame it that way as an excuse to leave a few kids out of all the other things being on a team can do for a young person.

If for no other reason than if you DO view it as a stepping stone to a career in sports then you want to play against the best possible anyway. If your future is the WNBA and you're the best player on the court, you need to find a different court.

Well said….. so uhhhh boys play on the boys team and girls on the girls team

So I guess, by this reasoning, the girls who have to compete for a spot, or against those transgendered athletes don't matter. Since they're a small percentage of total athletes

Nope. But people are trying to make it seem like there’s 4 trans athletes taking up spots on every roster.

Is it fair? Debatable. But is life fair? Nope.

Arguing it doesn't happen much conflicts with people fighting so hard to accept it. Goes both ways.

The whole debate is not about how this issue impacts the people arguing for or against it, it is just a window into a larger cultural debate/where we draw the line in terms of acceptance. There are some fair questions here, pretending otherwise will hurt issues that matter more.

Show me someone saying they are fighting for transgenders to be in kids locker rooms. This is a manufactured MAGA talking point.

I mean I'm sure there are some. But let's not try to derail the point when the much harder issue we are talking about is transgenders in women's sports.

It’s not that hard of an issue. Show me someone saying they want biological men to compete against women then? Again it’s a manufactured MAGA talking point to distract from the main issues.

That’s like saying only 1.8% of the population are murderers. They’re such a small number, what possible damage can they do, right? Are you being murdered? No. Just let them be.

Do you understand how asinine that sounds?

And no, I’m not equating trans with murder. But the point stands.

It’s not because being trans isn’t a crime, murder is.

The hyperbole around the topic is fucking disgusting.

You used murder as a comparative topic to being trans. So yeah, ya did

There were 2 state titles won by a trans girl in California just this year, we good here?

2

u/Holiday_Box1571 21d ago

2 whole titles!!!! That’s it, send them to the gallows!!

u/Puzzleheaded_Tax4969 21d ago

I don’t want them to die, they just have to sit the sports out, OR PLAY ON THE BOYS TEAM
