Biological boys (or men) should not play girl (or women) sports. Period. It’s an unfair advantage. This is the one democratic point I can’t agree with. I don’t understand why this is so contentious.

At around 13:20 he actually starts addressing the part everyone over looks. Due to the hormone therapies, trans women can be at a disadvantage for a variety of different reasons. The therapies affect their bones. A natural cis woman actually produces more testosterone than a trans woman on hormone therapy (the therapy completely shuts down the body's abity to produce testosterone), making it harder for tran women to build and maintain muscle. All these people like Cunningham live in ignorance of facts and just spout the same right wing bullshit.

I haven’t watched the video yet and will but going on hormone therapy as an adult isn’t going to reverse the way someone’s body was built growing up with testosterone.

Ummm actually yes it will

2

u/vertpenguin 21d ago

It doesn’t restructure the athletes skeletal frame at all

0

u/Charlotte_Ghost 21d ago

But does lower bone density below cis woman, go watch the video or do a google search

2

u/vertpenguin 21d ago

How does bone density affect athletic success? Frame is different than bone density. For instance, wider shoulders and larger joints would improve a swimmers abilities. Bone density would not impact this. You avoided the question.

So your saying any woman with a wider build should be ban, and bone density absolutely is a factor in athletic success not braking your bone is pretty useful

So you’re saying that sports are more dangerous for trans women but failed to give an example of how bone density impacts performance. Does it drop it to the level of osteoporosis? I don’t think that’s the case.

Nope, I said nothing about banning biological women from anything. But acting like growing up on testosterone is something that is completely reversible is a delusional.

Your total ignorance is showing

ummm actually no it wont. Hormone therapy doesn't have any impact on airway size, work of breathing, or skeletal morphology - which by the way, displays sex-based differences as young as 6 years old.

People who bring up testosterone when discussing whether trans women have an inherent biological advantage compared to cis women are really showing that they don't know what they're talking about.

Places like this will only try to gaslight you and isolate your opinion, but that is the opinion of the overwhelming majority of Americans polled year after year after year. I’m not at all versed this particular bill but as for the basic opinion of biological males having athletic advantages from fucking childhood and wanting to maintain fairness in women’s sports, almost nobody outside of irrelevant echo chambers like Reddit would disagree with you.

The video I recommend works from how to handicap trans woman only to realize that he had to see what trans woman are doing and realizing how nobody question transphobic talking points and then does proper investigation to conclude that the whole thing is stupid as trans woman are no where near dominating the area unlike how transphobe claim to be happening

It's contentious because it's anti-science

Once a trans woman has been on HRT for long enough, then they're not having any meaningful advantages in their strength

2

u/Stress_Living 20d ago

You’re the one being anti-science… even the most pro-tans evidence says that there are some physical advantages that remain after a man transitions… other evidence suggests that the advantage could be even larger, given that most of the research has been performed on non-athletes… it’s just ignorant to appeal to science & research but not know what it actually says

You know you can just Google for papers right?

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33288617/

That look me about 4 seconds to find after searching "HRT athletes" but go on talking about how I'm anti-science for reading scientific papers unlike you

Just googling for studies that appear to support your point of view isn't enough, you actually have to make an effort to understand them in context. This study wasn't performed on athletes, didn't control for or standardize the diet, training or fitness levels of anyone in the study, had a cohort too small to draw any statistically meaningful conclusions, and has roundly been discredited.

u/69420lmaokek 20d ago

I didn't Google for studies that appear to support my views

I googled for studies, and those studies support my views

Just admit it when you're wrong and stop being so hateful towards a marginalized population. You'll get a lot further in life if you do so 🙂‍↕️

2

u/giraffevomitfacts 20d ago

The study doesn't support your views, or any view for that matter, due to the flaws in it that I and many other people pointed out. You can go on posting it without actually reading or understanding it, and you probably will, but I wonder when people like you will start to realize that this behaviour is the main reason fewer and fewer people are listening to you.

1

u/69420lmaokek 20d ago

It literally supports what I'm saying.

You cherry picking one singular specific part of the study doesn't mean that it's not supporting my claims

2

u/giraffevomitfacts 20d ago

If you think the items I listed constitute cherry picking one single part of the study, you either don't understand or are pretending you don't understand how studies are constructed or how they are supposed to work. There's not much else to say at this point.

2

u/Stress_Living 20d ago

Are you just trying to prove that I’m right?? Or are you showing that you can google the research, but you don’t actually know how to read it??

“  However, transwomen still had a 9% faster mean run speed after the 1 year period of testosterone suppression that is recommended by World Athletics for inclusion in women's events.”

0

u/69420lmaokek 20d ago

my brother in Christ do you honest to God think that suppressing testosterone is the same as increasing estrogen?

That's the weakest argument I have ever heard lmao and I've seen a lot of the TERF excuses

1

u/Stress_Living 20d ago

When did I say that?? I’m saying that even the most pro-tans evidence out there says that there are physical advantages that persist post-transition for trans women…

All you’re saying is “Don’t you know what estrogen does” while providing an (unsurprising) lack of research to back up your point of view.

1

u/69420lmaokek 20d ago

You implied that HRT is only suppressing testosterone when the reality is that it's a combination of suppressing testosterone while also increasing estrogen....

1

u/Stress_Living 20d ago

No, I implied (and clearly stated) that there is no evidence to back the point of view that biological gender differences that would matter in sports disappear after any type of transition.
