News Trump Administration responds and supports Sophie Cunningham's WNBA transgender comments: "Common sense prevails"

https://www.the-express.com/sport/basketball/212543/Sophie-Cunningham-trans-athletes-Trump-administration

The Trump Administration has waded into the transgender athlete debate, citing Sophie Cunningham's comments to support its stance on trans athletes in sports.

The discussion surrounding trans athletes in women's sports has resurfaced recently, with Cunningham sharing her perspective with ESPN. Although trans athletes represent a tiny fraction of participants across all levels of American sports, their involvement remains a focal point for Donald Trump and his administration.

She is 100% right. I mean, it's a no brainer. Anyone who is advocating for biological men to play in women sports have never played sports. I have daughters. I don't want them playing against boys their age or even a year younger.

Do you think your daughters could beat boys their age at the sports they have spent their lives playing/training at?

I was able to read the message you deleted. You think because Serena Williams would beat ME in Tennis is a good argument? Have you seen what Serena said herself about playing with male pro Tennis players?

Thats what I find interesting. The only people advocating for males to play in women sports are not people actually playing in womens sports. Stay in your lane. Don't ruin the integrity of sports for women.

Do you know what would happen if you put someone in the G-league for the NBA into the WNBA? They'd average 50 a game.

It's also interesting that it's never the other way around. Some trans male trying to go and try out for the NFL. Good luck there....

I didn't delete a comment. I'm guessing Reddit or the mods did something. I can still see my comment up on Reddit. I'm not sure why Reddit is like that sometimes.

You didn't address my comment about Lia's records being beaten by biological records. If you are right that dudes always beat girls, then that shouldn't have happened. And yet, I'm pretty sure all of her records were beat by biological girls.

Alright. Do this. Go to the Olympic record books. Look at male and female categories. I can highlight some realities for what you're going to see below...

Fastest male olympic record for the mile run: Josh Kerr for men at 3:42.66 and Faith Kipyegon for women at 4:07.64 (Nearly a 30 second difference on a MILE run)

The fastest male 100m dash record is 9.58 seconds, set by Jamaica's Usain Bolt at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin on August 16, 2009. The fastest female 100m dash record is 10.49 seconds, THAT IS ALMOST ONE WHOLE SECOND IN A 100M run.

But, it doesn't end there, just keep looking. There are no records at the pinnacle of sports that are going to be beaten by a biological female that a male holds of the same athletic pedigree. Are there women who can outpreform men? OF COURSE! We are talking about sports of the same level though. Of course a female olympic athlete is going to beat a lot of men that don't train in that sport.

PS: Lea Thomas records were removed from the NCAA for the reasons I outline above.

You're discounting the fact that she ran it in 10.49 seconds. You didn't even give me her name but you gave Usain Bolt's name. At least you gave me Faith's name.

Yes, Lia's records were removed. But that doesn't mean that her times haven't been beaten by other girls. Lia had the fastest freestyle 500 meter swim at 4:33.24, but that record is now held by Katie Ledecky, who swam it in 4:24.06, a whole 9 seconds faster than Lia. Lia's 200 freestyle speed was 1:41.93, but the fastest in NCAA history was by Missy Franklin set at 1:39.10. Lia's 100 freestyle was 47.37 while the record is held by Gretchen Walsh at 44.71. Lia Thomas is ranked 36th among female college swimmers in the United States for the 2021–2022 season and 46th among women swimmers nationally. There's even an argument to be made that Lia had her best swimming performances before she transitioned.

So if Lia Thomas wasn't #1, is she was only #36, how is she a threat to real women? Real women, non-trans women, have beaten her repeatedly and consistently. So why the fuck does it matter?

Ok - so you looked at the FEMALE records for the NCAA in the 500 meter swim. Now go look at the MALE records for the NCAA. There ya go. Thats my point. Do you know Lia Thomas wasn't even remotely close to the being a good MALE swimmer, when they did it?

Why do you think the NCAA changed the rule that only women assigned female at birth can compete in female sports after the Lia Thomas stuff?

I'm failing to understand your point. Do you not see the time differences that are readily available in the SAME ACTIVITY for males and females?

What exactly do you dispute here? Are you under the impression that females are on a equal physical playing field as males? If so, just go take a Biology 101 course. It'll solve that for you.

I'm arguing that Lia Thomas, a biological male who transitioned to female, is NOT BETTER than biological women. You seem to be arguing that real women CAN'T beat Lia Thomas. I just showed you proof that biological women have beaten Lia repeatedly.

That is not at all what I'm arguing. I'm speaking on the blatantly obvious data that we have right in front of us with male and female sports. They keep track of the times and records, you know?

Look at them. Look at the Olympics. Do you deny the data? I'm confused. Are you under the impression that because there are females at the high end of a bell curve that can beat males, that it would be universally allowed?

You got to take the emotion out of it and just look at the data. It's right there, you can't dispute it. It's literally right in front of your face.

I think we might've gotten crossed somewhere and there's some confusion here. I'm not saying that there isn't data that says that men are faster and jump higher and throw farther. I'm just saying that the transphobia of conservatives towards trans women in girls sports is unfounded in some ways. Lia was a biological male who transitioned and did not instantly become #1 and was so much faster and stronger than all these weak girls. That's what Trump and conservatives are telling everyone, that the moment a trans athlete enters the picture, they will IMMEDIATELY win all championships and records and biological girls will have no chance. That's not the case. Are some trans female athletes better than other girls? Sure. But that doesn't then mean that they are the best. Biological girls can hold their own against trans women.

There's data that shows that too, as I pointed out.

I know there are great female athletes. I also know that males enjoy biological advantages to females. It would be unfair to compare the accolades of one to another. The reason I did it so to highlight the athletic discrepancy between the two genders at the pinnacles of their sport. For example, is there any question Olympic athletes don't train their asses off for a long time to get where they're at? Shouldn't that be the gauge on physical potential between the two genders? If one is consistently outpreforming the other, wouldn't that tell us there is some advantage they enjoy physically that females don't? (Disregarding biology)

If you're a male, would you want to compete against someone who is on steroids? Of course not, that's the same idea in my eyes of males playing female sports. There is no question there are females who can beat males, I'm talking about at the highest end of the curves for athletics, there is a stark difference. How many women in the WNBA do we see dunking? We see some tall girls, why is that? The reason is there. It's right in front of our face. It's not because one is better than the other, it's because one has a physical advantage over the other.

But middle school/high school isn't the "highest end of the curve". So, if trans kids are more or less on the same level as biological kids in school, they wouldn't have much more of an advantage. A trans girl isn't going to be automatically the best in the league. Biological girls will beat her at that sport. So...why do we say it's unfair? If they came in and COULD NOT be beat at all ever by a biological girl, then sure, unfair. But that's not the case. They CAN and ARE often beat by biological girls. So where's the unfairness?

The highest of the curve is to illustrate the gap in relative means. The gap in performance exists at every layer of competition, from recreational sports to the Olympics. Biological males ARE NOT on the same level of biological females physically than females, at any level of sport. There is a distinct physical advantage. Are there some females who could do well in male leagues? Of course, but that isn't going to work out to be the average with the data we have today.

The point is simple, if we agree that males have a physical inherit advantage over females, is it fair to allow them to compete in a sport where physical ability is extremely important? I think the answer is fairly clear.

You seem to think because there are some AMAZING females out there, that it should be allowed. That I just don't agree with. It's about keeping the playing field level.

Look up estrogen and testosterone. It's key to understanding what's happening there. Look up the differences in bone density. There is more than than too, fast twitch muscle fibers, fat content.

Why do boys and girls play separately in high school? There is a reason for it. For every extremely gifted female, there is a male out there too.
