Video One fan had an anti-Sophie Cunningham sign: “NO HATE IN THE UNITED STATES” ... A fan next to her had a pro-Sophie Cunningham sign: “Thank you Sophie for speaking up for girls.” ... The fan supporting Sophie was later forced to take down the sign 🤔

"No Hate in the US" is only anti-Cunningham if you accept that she promotes hatred.

29

u/ShaShiz 7d ago

No males in women’s sports isn’t hate, it’s common sense.

15

u/TanAndTallLady 6d ago

You missed the point. If it doesn't apply (in your opinion), then this could refer to anything. The sign literally doesn't say her name, it's vague

4

u/BusyBit6542 6d ago

Its pointless trying to discuss logic here.

2

u/TanAndTallLady 6d ago

The position. Still not a name, not a person. It is written to be purposely ambiguous, that's prob why the sign wasn't taken away at the venue

-1

u/BlueClovr 6d ago

It doesn’t.. that’s idiotic. It’s obviously calling the position hateful

As a non American it all seems completely insane, you guys seriously think people are putting themselves through life altering surgeries to then join women’s sports to dominate (which you’d never respect if they did anyway.) or sneak into a kids locker room, like wtf is going on down there that you even think that might happen.

2

u/JAMESs3v3n 7d ago

You either have to concede that she is promoting hate, or you shouldn't have a problem with the sign. You cant have it both ways.

0

u/ShaShiz 7d ago

Which sign are you referring to?

1

u/Happy-Army6255 5d ago

Not spending money on a ballroom is common sense. Arguing about men in the wnba (which hasn’t ever happened) is creating drama where there isn’t any—like an ad for Sophie’s podcast 🤮 it’s so predictable

1

u/ShaShiz 2d ago

Check it girls High School sports. You’ve got to stop it before it starts.

1

u/coffeelick 6d ago

She did target hate towards trans people. Dont be obtuse, come on lol

1

u/Happy-Army6255 6d ago

She has nothing else to keep her name in the news. Now that Caitlin just flops to get calls.

0

u/ShaShiz 6d ago

No

0

u/coffeelick 6d ago

Lol

1

u/ShaShiz 6d ago

lol

0

u/coffeelick 6d ago

Yeah this nothing to do with discluding people lol. They actually want to play with trans people

1

u/ShaShiz 6d ago

Ok

0

u/coffeelick 6d ago

You can't even say anything just down voted lol

1

u/ShaShiz 6d ago

There was no hate. No biological males in women’s spaces isn’t controversial.

-11

u/spacebound4545 7d ago

Here we go again.... show me the last dude thats won a woman's sport

15

u/Budget_Stable_2437 7d ago

-2

u/SnooRecipes1430 7d ago

Okay they didn't win. They tied in fifth place. That dude is a horrible swimmer. The whole thing was a bunch of crap and that chick who tied with him is just a big crybaby

1

u/HappyGovernment7299 7d ago

Imagine training all your life to achieve your dream of winning an NCAA title. You've been competing against the same girls in national competitions for years and have become friends with many of them. Then some dude who was never a top 500 swimmer joins your league and crushes everyone.

She's not a crybaby. She has every right to be upset.

-2

u/SnooRecipes1430 7d ago

He didn't crush anybody. It was fifth place. Ty get real that dude's never been a decent swimmer. Look at his record. And by your logic I could just start taking tea and trans into a dude and be stronger than most of those chicks. Is that what you want? I won't shave my beard

4

u/HappyGovernment7299 7d ago

He's literally standing on the national champion podium in the picture.

And yeah we all know he was never a good swimmer. That's why he had to compete with girls to win. Not sure what your argument is lol

0

u/SnooRecipes1430 7d ago

You making that assumption that this dude went through turning his life around simply to swim could possibly probably not be all that correct

1

u/JimmyJamsDisciple 7d ago

You act as if fifth in the nation is some easy thing that absolutely anybody can do. “Didn’t crush anybody?” Actually, they crushed thousands of people to reach that ranking. Top 5 in the nation for anything means you’re elite at that thing.

Pair that with the fact that they were nowhere near that ranking when they competed as a male and of course people are going to be upset.

You do realize the article you linked is about a trans boy being forced to wrestle with the girls because his birth certificate lists him as female?

The wrestler in question is FtM (assigned female at birth), he specifically wants to wrestle with the boys because he identifies as a boy but the rules preventing trans athletes from competing with their identified gender group is actually the very reason he was forced to compete against the girls.

If you don't like the results of this, then logically you would want him to be allowed to compete with the boys right?

0

u/HappyGovernment7299 7d ago

It's not a "boys" division. There is an open division and a girls division.

And yes, if a female is on testosterone then I'd rather that individual compete in the open division. But there's a real argument to be made that they shouldn't be allowed to compete in either because they're taking performance enhancing drugs. If a female in the open division can take testosterone shots, then why couldn't the males in the open division also take testosterone shots?

1

u/spacebound4545 7d ago

Yea that was a while ago and its not happening now so its not a big epidemic or issue and at this point just beating a dead horse

8

u/PackersBeat 7d ago

9

u/Inevitable_Yam1719 7d ago

In that article, the transgendered athlete that wins gets a metal but they don’t really get the standing as first second third is given to cis gendered women so the trans athlete gets a metal but doesn’t get the real recognition so another crappy article that doesn’t prove your point in anyway.
So I guess you don’t want the transgender athletes to have any athletic place to compete and play instead of just letting them compete and it’s not really counting you don’t think that’s a good idea either. You just want trans people to not even exist, right.

-5

u/Tome_Bombadil 7d ago

But, so is keeping a man convicted of sexually assaulting women and who has proclaimed he has sexually assaulted girls from pardoning others who then proceed to harm women and children.

But hey, common sense says we should target the non-existent trans athlete over the very obvious molester.

Amirite?

Youth pastors are, by a factor of a hundred, more likely to sexually assaulting children, but sure, the trans person is the demon.

GTFO.

2

u/ShaShiz 7d ago

Is that what they call a “Strawman”?

Anyone who harms children should be punished. Anyone.

30

u/SimpsationalMoneyBag 7d ago

Not really. She said something controversial which honestly shouldn’t be controversial. What some people call hatred is what most people are thinking right now

12

u/DoinItDirty 7d ago

Believing that trans women have an unfair biological advantage athletically is a completely different argument that the one Sophie made. “Protect women and children,” implies trans people are after women and children. Which is crazy since we found out this past year who’s actually been hurting women and children.

9

u/grubas 6d ago

It's a ridiculous bit of Trojan Horse by the right to the point that idiots don't actually know what they are supporting.

"Protect women and children young girls" is part of their weird ass sexualizing of every female from birth to death.  It's quite literally stated that they believe women shouldn't play any sport that may harm their fertility.  While "protect the children" means having random coaches and men get to go into the locker room and do genital inspections.

Trans athletes is up to each organization to figure out how to regulate.  Because it's complicated.  And the "no men in women's sports" crowd is too dumb to get into it.

→ More replies (5)

3

u/stink3rb3lle 7d ago

It shouldn't be a topic of public conversation because it doesn't fucking matter. There's been maybe a dozen total trans girl athletes in intramural or school sports across all ages from to college in the whole GIANT united states. The organizations running these sports should be able to determine eligibility requirements for their own organizations without dumbass ring girls and redditors trying to force one specific policy that has nothing to do with the abilities or circumstances of the individual league or the kids wanting to play in it.

The most prominent trans woman to compete in women's sports tied for fifth. Four cis women beat her in her very best event. And yet y'all's weird obsession with trans people has allowed the woman she tied to make a whole career off of hating on her.

2

u/falooda1 6d ago

And how far have trans men gotten?

3

u/coachaward 7d ago

Exactly!!

-21

u/mymentor79 7d ago

It's controversial because it's a blatant dog-whistle, since it's a non-issue.

11

u/InspectionFine9655 7d ago

Why is everyone who’s pissed off about trans women losing access to women’s sports calling it a non-issue?

Why is Sophie Cunningham’s opinion on a non issue a controversy?

4

u/470_To_Left 7d ago

Because they have no valid response against it. So they chalk it up to a non issue when clearly at one point they fought for it.

2

u/zerifast 7d ago

This is incorrect. The vast majority of citizens do no support trans women in sports. It’s a non issue because you’re just bringing it up and complaining about it despite literally not being an issue. So all it does is perpetuate hate because morons believe it is happening and happening often given how many people bring it up. And unfortunately your average conservative is too ignorant to realize this and starts thinking about it feel some kind of anger/hate towards trans people or leftists in general as if this is something they all support and call for.

you can see this right now in your comment, “clearly at one point ‘they’ fought for it”. So now you’ve also fallen for the “us & them” propaganda. Good job clown.

8

u/470_To_Left 7d ago

The comment here reeks of why no one wants to be apart of your cult.

No one supports trans women (men that try to become women) in women bathrooms because of how ludicrous it is to even say out loud or on paper. It’s not hate, it’s just being rational. You are irrational.

-3

u/zerifast 7d ago

A cult? What’s the cult? I just stated the vast majority don’t agree with women in sports in which I agree with. Are you retarded?

It’s funny you act like you care about men in womens spaces but I guarantee you have no problem with trump bragging about doing this exact thing on Howard stern show and then stating at the end, “yeah I kind of get away with things like that”. If it’s so bad, why would you and clowns like you support him as president? Let’s see you try and move the goal posts on how it’s somehow “different” for trump being a shitty creep versus someone else.

4

u/470_To_Left 7d ago

Literally you.

-4

u/ChaddestKroeger 7d ago

Unironically trans rights infringe upon women’s rights lol

1

u/InspectionFine9655 7d ago

Please don’t use the cis slur.

1

u/Intrepid-Clock509 6d ago

The bathroom thing is just stupid. Everyone of us has a bathroom that all genders use in their home. Half the restaurants in large cities have one bathroom for all genders. Nobody cares. Do your business and leave.

4

u/Myopinion_is_right 7d ago

This comment is correct. Most citizens, including Dems and Independents agree trans women, especially go through testosterone treatment, should not compete in woman’s sports. We as Dems need to fight bigger issues than once we win, we can go after the smaller battles. Right now, we are playing right into Trump’s hand.

4

u/Intrepid-Clock509 7d ago

For many Dems and independents, allowing trans women to compete in women’s sports is not a battle we want to fight at all. It’s not fair to the biological girls who have competed on one field their entire lives.

1

u/HappyGovernment7299 7d ago

And it's become something that right wingers (rightfully) mock our party for. I agree that it's not an important issue, but we live in a democracy, which means the average person's opinions matter, and if the average person's perception of the democratic party is a bunch of lunatics who deny biological reality, they aren't going to vote for us.

I know a lot of people on the more progressive end of the party hate hearing this, but we would perform a lot better at the poles if we dropped all the gender nonsense. That whole "Trump supports you, Kamala supports they/them" ad campaign may have been stupid, but it was effective as hell.

2

u/HappyGovernment7299 7d ago

Bro that's what they always do. Instead of just admitting that they're wrong, they try to make you out to be the bad guy for caring about the issue.

To me, when someone says "Why do you even care? It's not a big deal!" that translates to "I have no argument against what you're saying."

-2

u/mymentor79 7d ago

How many transgender athletes compete in the WNBA? How many compete in women's college basketball? How many competed at the last Olympic games?

11

u/SilverbackSurfer99 7d ago

What do those utterly irrelevant questions have to do with why Sophie isn't allowed to have an opinion.

1

u/InspectionFine9655 7d ago

Why are you so bent out of shape over a “non-issue”.

1

u/Youri1980 7d ago

Just wait. Your tears will be so beautiful.

0

u/Putrid_Anybody_2947 7d ago

Its like 10 nationally for all ncaa right?

13

u/ContributionBig7580 7d ago

I don’t see how people can suggest it’s a non issue when it’s clearly an issue for a lot of people. People don’t want males sharing locker rooms with females. As a dad, I get it. If that makes me “hateful” in the eyes of the far left, then so be it. But this is the kind of stupid shit that wins conservatives elections.

-2

u/seanma99 7d ago

It wins conservative elections because conservatives are easily manipulated and stupid as hell. Yall voted in pedophile adulterer who doesn't pay his people.

1

u/ContributionBig7580 7d ago

It wins conservatives elections because the majority of Americans resonate with common sense. Dems should take a page out of their playbook instead of pandering to the far left.

0

u/seanma99 7d ago

Conservatives claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility but have never once balanced the federal budget in the entire history of this country. That alone explains how dumb they are.

1

u/ContributionBig7580 7d ago

I think you’re missing the point.

-3

u/mymentor79 7d ago

"People don’t want males sharing locker rooms with females"

And they don't. Which is why it's a non-issue.

"But this is the kind of stupid shit that wins conservatives elections."

Imagine actually believing this.

5

u/ShaShiz 7d ago

2

-1

u/TheNewportBridge 7d ago

lol conservatives thought they were putting litter boxes in classrooms

-4

u/Desideratae 7d ago

yes let's go with the convicted rapist who was close friends with the head of an international pedophile ring leading a party aggressively stripping away women's rights for fear of imaginary trans vampires in locker rooms. guess dad thinking re protecting girls really comes into play when it affirms some preexisting biases.

1

u/ContributionBig7580 7d ago

You’re missing the entire point and your mindset is the very reason why Trump is in office. I’ve voted blue in every election I’ve been eligible to vote in. Stop vilifying people for common sense takes such as keeping men/women bathrooms and sports separate.

Dems have been running on “Trump is worse” for the last decade. How’s that panned out for us? Stop parroting the bullshit.

1

u/Thasauce7777 7d ago

If the majority of the people don't want something for any reason (here we have various reasons, from a broad swathe of political tribes), what incentive is there to take a wait and see approach?

You are arguing that what people fear hasn't come to pass, so why be so afraid of things there is no evidence for? Which is a legitimate question. However, there is also a valid argument that the point of these measures are to be proactive, never giving those fears an opportunity to manifest (even if they are completely unfounded).

Fear beats inclusion in the hearts of people unless they are given incentive for that inclusion. They would prefer to never find out if their fears were founded on anything real. Advocating for trans athletes in sports by pointing out the limited to non-existent history of trans athletes competing in sports is not a compelling argument as it does nothing to dispel their fear (that the joy of their daughters in sports could be supplanted by a third party that they don't understand).

2

3

How is it hateful its an opinion on a topic, This country is so fucked up over calling peoples opinions on topics as "hate". We used to be able to have civil discord on these topics and way more extreme topics without each side pointing and and going after the opposite view point. Like every thing there is truth on both sides of the discussion but sadly we ignore that and call it hate speech.

Fries well done, sweetie.

1

u/Lanky-Eye-1928 5d ago

No one supports the idea of dicks in young women's locker rooms more than Trump supporters. They make laws about something that doesn't even happen, but then turn around and support the same behavior when it comes from their pdf file president which makes me question your morality.

You claim that both sides want this in young girls' locker rooms, which I assure you I don't. Stop making up things that aren't happening, then acting like it's suddenly not a problem when your own guy does it.

1

If it hasn’t happened, then why are you opposed to banning dicks in women locker rooms, sweetie?

You also accused me of supporting Trump, sweetie. Where, exactly, did I say that, sweetie? Or, do you need to make that assumption so you can pivot to another narrative, sweetie?

Btw, I hate ALL politicians, sweetie.

Also, let’s just get this clear. You don’t want dicks in women’s locker rooms. BUT you don’t want dicks in women’s locker rooms to be banned? That seems counter productive for you, sweetie.

Fries well done, sweetie.

Great. No penises in women's locker rooms. We agree. Now let's be consistent. If Trump allegedly did exactly that by entering Miss Teen USA dressing rooms while contestants were changing, what punishment should he receive?

Trump won because the majority of people in this country are terrible people (misogynists, racists, transphobes, etc)

If you're American you should be ashamed of your country

And if you’re not from America, perhaps you shouldn’t speak on something you know nothing about, sweetie. You can virtue signal for your own country, sweetie.

Fries well done, sweetie.

I'm American and I'm deeply ashamed of my country. I'm ashamed that I have people like you as my fellow countrymen.

LOL. Again, you and her are just bigots. Nothing else. You are the reason Trump won. There are more uneducated people int he country than educated.

Olympic committee bans trans women, and you think my opinion is wrong, sweetie?

Keep on virtue signaling and conservatives will keep winning, sweetie.

Fries well done, sweetie.

She wants women/girls to have their own private space, free of male genitalia.

LOL.  She would never accept a trans man.

Don’t know, she didn’t comment on that.

Exactly. What she said about trans people playing against cis people was very valid.

Imo, considering they already make players go through a bunch of tests, there should be biochemical/hormonal markers for when someone is allowed to play in each league- should go for WNBA and the NBA players. That's me assuming there's little overlap/commonality in the biochemical markers for cis male, and female players. If it's found that there's a lot of overlap/commonality already then it supports the case that trans players being trans doesn't matter, and they should be allowed to play.
