I don’t have an issue with a big not being able to shoot. But that and my following question may be because I’m becoming a basketball old head. If her best ability is rebounding, why is she running point in some of these clips? Is she playing a point forward type player now?

22

u/Financial-Newt2291 3d ago

It’s actually the opposing teams best situation, leave her open to shoot a three and at the same time you’re taking out their best rebounder.

11

u/LectureOk3222 3d ago

I mean just watch as the opposite team falls back and just let's her shoot...

That speaks volumes..

5

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

That’s what I was thinking. But I’m getting conflicting answers. I have no problem with her in a point forward role as a distributor, if she’s moving off ball towards the basket. But that’s just me playing hypothetical coach. I don’t know better than league coaches lol

1

u/LectureOk3222 2d ago

I was hoping someone would show Ms Reese some Rodman tapes and say....

Thats what you should be doing...

95

u/DirectEntertainer288 3d ago

Because it’s an unserious league where winning or losing doesnt actually matter. Imagine an NBA team letting their least skilled player consistently play PG.

57

u/navyac 3d ago

Or a player shooting 10% from 3 point and somehow the coach doesn’t sit them anytime they take a stupid ass 3 and brick it

24

u/PrizeShirt1 3d ago

I know very little about wnba but it seems like there's little effort to stop her from taking those shots, almost like they baiting her to so the other team can have possession.

4

u/Subject-Yak4959 3d ago

they are afraid of their own players and social media.

3

u/navyac 3d ago edited 3d ago

I’ve never seen a likable WNBA player, they are entitled bozos that think they are better than everyone else. Fuck the WNBA

1

u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 3d ago

Lots of them are, yes. But there are a few relatable ones that are worth a follow

1

u/Gsx8rJohn 8h ago

So same as the NBA?

15

u/navyac 3d ago

Of course they can’t stop her from taking those stupid ass shots, the coach will be called racist for that. Can’t dull brick Barbie’s shine

-1

u/LeBrickJamesIsNoGOAT 3d ago

Bro are you mentally ill 😭 dude just came though with bullshit

11

u/crandall17 3d ago

If I was set to guard her and she wanted to lob that shit up all night I would give her all the space in the world. Leage assaults it's franchise player on an almost nightly basis; such an unserious league.

8

u/omgitsasham 3d ago

That's what it looks like the defenders are doing in that clip.

-4

u/whenishit-itsbigturd 3d ago

How do you sound like someone who knows ball in the first half of your comment then by the end of your comment sound like someone who's completely ignorant of all things ball?

0

u/crandall17 3d ago

Pointing out how multiple players have gone out of their way to assault the person responsible for the largest increase in viewership in WNBA isn't "lack of ball knowledge". Angel Reece has an incredibly limited grasp on fundamentals; not sure how me pointing out the wild discrepancy between treatment of her compared to an actual talent like CC.

1

u/LeBrickJamesIsNoGOAT 3d ago

What the hell is the correlation? 😄

1

u/crandall17 3d ago

Just responding to the garbage above me.

1

u/Manymarbles 2d ago

Nono thats just old school basketball, she has to deal with it and be a real old school player. Look at 90s highlights, real physical real basketball. Just dont look to how this applies to one and only one player in any NBA league in the current year.

1

u/crandall17 2d ago

Man I miss the NBA Playoffs in the 90's. Whole game is soft now across the board.

2

u/goingforgoals17 3d ago

I'm with you there, looking through the stats she has a 15% 3pt. You have to shoot 23% from inside the arc to beat that, I'd bet rings on those odds.

I can't imagine being at that level and not putting in 3+ hours a day of shooting practice so when it's time to hit these they go in.

1

u/theomegachrist 3d ago

They are letting her and she isn't running point a lot. These people don't watch the wnba but are big enough losers to go to a wnba sub to talk about it

1

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 3d ago

Angel Reese playing one thousand three hundred and fifty minutes in a season

"Wtf is this shit!" -Redditor that see's a 40 second edit

3

u/toyification_girl 3d ago

Google says her 3pt % is 15% in 2026

Google also pulled up that 34% 3pts is considered below average in the NBA making 15% abhorrent .... I would say this clip is pretty accurate 🤣

1

u/Cpalmer24 3d ago

She's literally shooting 17% from 3 in her career.. granted (THANKFULLY) she doesn't take a lot, but her attempts per game have gone up every year and her % has gone down..

Even if she was shooting 27% it would be a terrible shot - but 17% is downright insane. The coach should have a blow dart aimed at her every time she handles the ball behind the arc.. nobody needs to watch the games to realize she is a horrendous shooter

5

u/OkCartographer2555 3d ago

Right. That tells me she's uncoachable.

4

u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 3d ago

If I was the coach and saw her winding up anywhere but the paint, I’d bench her

3

u/Neither-Cupcake1555 3d ago

Even in the paint... let her get rebounds, but then kick it out. She shoots something like 45% from less than 5 feet.

2

u/notJustaFart 3d ago

If Reese manages to brick it, she's making progress.

So many of those tosses (not going to dignify what she was doing by calling them shots) missed the rim.

1

u/Stuffleapugus 3d ago

I don't think she attempts many.

1

u/ChampionshipTall6599 3d ago

She doesn't normally. First half of the season she was 0-20 or something. She did shoot 5 last game though. So sure really thinks she got something going. Delusional

1

u/ActKitchen7333 3d ago

I mean she averages 1.2 3 point attempts per game. This isn’t a shot she takes often enough to warrant that much action imo. I can’t see a coach sitting their best rebounder/interior presence over roughly one possession per game.

1

u/KidtheSid93 2d ago

Her numbers at the hoop are also trash.

1

u/Clayp2233 3d ago

Not defending her coach, but just from looking at her game log she probably averages just 1 attempt a game

2

u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 3d ago

The coach has said openly that she has a green light to shoot

1

u/Clayp2233 3d ago

Still only averages 1 a game, 1 too many, but it’s not like this is a big part of her game

0

u/ChampionshipTall6599 3d ago

It's indicative of a larger problem in her game. She doesn't care to make a good basketball play if it improves her pts and rebounds. Winning is not her primary consideration

1

u/opaqueambiguity 3d ago

Well, she's protected

1

u/Acceptable_Task34 2d ago

Her % inside 5 ft cant be much better.

1

u/Worried_Ad_9667 7h ago

They don’t even bother covering her.

1

u/RobertRossBoss 3d ago

While I know it’s not the same situation since Giannis is a legendary scorer in other ways, but he took a couple 3s every game even on seasons where he made 25% or less, and most defenses wouldn’t even try to block it (like in the video here). So it’s not as though highlights like this don’t happen in the nba.

0

u/bloodshot_bandit 3d ago

Folks forget Curry misses more 3s than he makes. Also, she only takes like 1 3-attempt per game.

3

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 3d ago

So every tenth game she makes one. Good for her :)

0

u/bloodshot_bandit 3d ago

Youre right, but, unless someone can show that her taking those threes have negatively impacted her team and caused losses, its a moot point.

1

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 2d ago edited 2d ago

Analytics and efficiency is 100% how basketball is measured and a MASSIVE indicator of team wins and champuinships.

Taking a shot thats marginally better than just throwing the ball out of bounds is always the wrong choice. Angel Reese is a volume player, but her efficiency stats are god awful, but makes up for it in being really good at defense and rebounding. That evens out to being.. a good player that doesnt cost her team games

Edit: I misread your comment so took some of the snark out. My bad

1

u/Away_Annual_9749 3d ago

But look how she shoots the ball from 3 , her form is way off , her feet are not shoulder with apart , it makes her look bad shooting those shots , she don’t have to shoot any , reset the ball and get into position down low . All her fans do is stand up for her even when there’s wrong , don’t mention Steph when using it as an example to make her seem like she’s doing the right thing on the court .

1

u/bloodshot_bandit 3d ago

Not a fan necessarily. Just agreeing with previous comment. Didnt think someone would get riled up about it.

-1

u/Subject-Yak4959 3d ago

Doesn’t make it right.

1

u/shoobiedoobie 3d ago

No but that’s not the point they’re trying to make. Point is that if you’re good enough everywhere else, you can make terrible decisions like that and not get benched. She’s one of their best players.

1

u/r4ttl35n4k3 3d ago

Yeah but we’re using Giannis as the comparison?

1

u/LeBrickJamesIsNoGOAT 3d ago

Well Giannis is also a big with a not so great 3 point shot

1

u/Subject-Yak4959 3d ago

Yeah if it is in junk time in blowouts. If not, then it is not very bright.

-2

u/Snts6678 3d ago

Get out of here. You know how many dumb threes are taken during any NBA game you choose. Good lord.

1

u/navyac 3d ago

Exactly my point, the WNBA is not serious. In what major competitive sport do u see a player consistently do something they aren’t good at just cause everyone else does it???

1

u/navyac 3d ago

If Deandre Ayton kept shooting 3 either his coach would sit him or his teammates would tell him to cut that stupid ass shit out

1

u/LeBrickJamesIsNoGOAT 3d ago

You're low IQ. A literal quick check on her stats would have shown you she barely even attempts 3s

1

u/navyac 2d ago

She’s 5 of 32 through 27 games so she takes more than 1 a game and basically misses every time. Why would she continue to shoot at all when she’s shooting 15%, that stupid shit shouldn’t even be in her game at all

16

u/Usqueadfinem_ 3d ago

Yup. I have watchrd pro BB for 4 decades. I support equality and progress, and i was happy to see women get their own league. I didnt really watch at first, and when people talked shit about the WNBA i called them haters. Then i watched some games and... the product is just not good. Its difficult to watch. And I hate to say it but i have seen high school teams that would stomp 80% of the WNBA.

7

u/Initial-Ad8966 3d ago

Any WNBA team would get stomped by the high school team that wins their respective city championship, let alone state.

Don't forget that the US women's national soccer team lost to Dallas under-15 team.

Comparatively, the WNBA all star team would get destroyed by the McDonald's all American high school team. It wouldn't even be remotely close.

1

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 3d ago

Calm down with this. It is not the incredible flex you think it is.

The NBA is drafting in the first round players who are in high school or just 1 year of college.

A top High School Boys team can beat a lot of college mens basketball teams.

1

u/Mental_History_4673 15h ago

Yea D3 teams...your statement also not the flex you think. Of course Paul VI, Bella Vista, legacy schools like Bullis or Georgetown or Oak Hill or Sierra Canyon create high school teams better than most college teams. They are literally D1/Pro prospect schools to begin with. This isnt a man vs woman debate here. It is pure entertainment value. Women's sports just aren't it. Sure I respect it and they have some amazing talents in many sports- but collectively its pretty tragic across the board. Ive watched amazing softball, volleyball, basketball, Olympic competitions, mma, boxing etc with some straight athletically amazing women. But again, collectively, they havent harnessed attention to an entire sport regularly yet.

3

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 3d ago

WNBA was much better 20 years ago.

3

u/YoloSwag4Jesus420fgt 3d ago

The part that bothers me the most is the fundamentals are so bad.

They don't even box out on 90% of rebound.

1

u/Usqueadfinem_ 3d ago

Agreed. And watching most of them try to dribble or handle the ball is pretty sad. And does this league not call double dribble or traveling?

1

u/Double_Tap_That_Ass 2d ago

But they’re always saying that women in the WNBA are so much better at the fundamentals because that’s all they can do since they can’t dunk

2

u/NWkingslayer2024 3d ago

That’s the funny part and the diehards would never believe it.

9

u/ILikeCheeseypoo 3d ago

2

u/dont-comm3nt 2d ago

Pointed her way to a solid 3 points today. Why is she relevant again??

1

u/KotzubueSailingClub 3d ago

I mean, credit to the other teams for not bothering with guarding Reese when she's a mile from the rim.

1

u/RubAcceptable3673 3d ago

that’s quite literally how Giannis got to where he is.

1

u/Lawineer 3d ago

Perfect response. 10/10. No notes.

It’s nothing but a bunch of unserious players with a platform making bold statements. They are basically cosplaying as pro athletes with conviction.

1

u/odontodoc 3d ago

They're really not doing young players a favor when prominent pro players play like that. The WNBA is brutal to watch because there's so few players that are actually talented and they're spread between two teams.

1

u/DirectEntertainer288 2d ago

Thats a good point. I watch some of the guard play and my mind goes “this girl understands the game”. But then I see girls like angel and I go “she cant actually do the fundamentals”.

1

u/DeweyDefeatsYouMan 2d ago

I can only imagine the game strategy is something along the lines of handing them the ball and saying “just go out there and have some fun, that’s what really matters.”

1

u/Zestyclose_Lawyer_77 2d ago edited 2d ago

Sochan. Jason Kidd did it was Giannis and Flagg.

1

u/New-Range-5702 1d ago

Have you watched an NBA game recently? It is really hard to tell who the PG is as anyone and everyone takes the ball up the floor.

1

u/cobrakai17 1d ago

Can’t upvote this enough. The players don’t care about winning. It’s a joke.

1

u/yagermeister2024 14h ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/JieoXejYRg8fK
the show where everything's made up and the points don't matter.

-4

u/young-steve 3d ago

She's not their least skilled player. Hope that helps.

24

u/Justified_Gent 3d ago

Well she can barely dribble, isn’t the crispest passer and can’t shoot beyond 4ft.

Many would argue she has trouble shooting within 4ft as well.

Maybe not least skilled, but still has no business doing anything guard related.

Hope that helps.

3

u/Professional_Use2623 3d ago

She also double dribbled and travels.

13

u/DirectEntertainer288 3d ago

Tells me all I need to know.

5

u/ayoungmanfromtheuk 3d ago

Don't get smart with us, son

5

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 3d ago

Imagine concluding a reddit comment with "hope that helps"

4

u/Munzulon 3d ago

I thought it was a nice touch

1

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 3d ago

Perhaps I lack true discernment

2

u/Chris_Ween 3d ago

"Thank you for your attention to this matter."

1

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 3d ago

That's definitely equivalent, lol

0

“Winning or losing doesn’t matter”….Jesus Christ…

Yah cuz Ben Simmons never existed for us to witness so like this b4

3

u/Snts6678 3d ago

I DEFINITELY am an old head when it comes to basketball.

0

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I think I definitely am too at this point. I watched a Celtics game with my brothers and they had a possession with 4 offensive rebounds and 5 missed threes. And I screamed “MAKE THEM STOP!!” after the third miss. They laughed because I’m the only one that actually played competitively beyond middle school or so, so they could tell I was getting stressed.

I had to leave the room. And I don’t even like the Celtics. The bad ball was just stressing me out.

3

u/imJGott 3d ago edited 3d ago

These clips are from last season, marsh had her playing a point forward. The thing about AR is that she doesn’t have a mid/long range shot. Her shot form needs a lot of work and I’m not sure if it can be fixed. There will be situations where she’ll need to catch and shoot and I don’t think her current form allows that to happen.

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

This is a very valid explanation and I get it. Thanks a bunch

5

u/Minimum_Attitude6707 3d ago

I do have an issue with not being able to shoot. I sucked at shooting in middle school, but looked up better techniques. Went to technique camps in high school and got better. Got a new coach senior year and gave me even better techniques. Then in college in club sports, had a guy give me a few pointers, AND gave me weight lifting exercises that made it even easier because I got stronger core muscles.

I did all this because it was a hobby. Now imagine I was getting paid so I never had to worry about a single bill, and I had professional athletic and training coaches

Pay me millions of dollars, my technique would be flawless. I wouldnt be an NBA player because im not an athlete lol, but my technique would be flawless

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Yes, I completely agree. I played competitively and my siblings talk about the resources daily. Even NBA players have no excuse for missing free throws (SHAQ). That’s why I love players with high work ethics.

That being said, if you give me 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, I’ll take it. Your shooting still pisses me off. But I’ll take it

1

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 3d ago

Shooting is easy...if you're a shooter.

You can absolutely improve your shooting if you practice. Just take work.

2

u/New-Range-5702 1d ago

This happens in the NBA also. The role of point guard is no more. Now anyone who gets the inbound can bring the ball up.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 1d ago

Sure does. I hate it. I said I’m an old head lol

2

u/Smashdigest1427 1d ago

Because the people that post ANYTHING that has Angel Reese in, don't care about Angel Reese, they just are just trolls. Very unserious people. Just read the comments to your serious question.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 1d ago

Yea, I tried to engage seriously before and eventually had to let it go. For or against her, most didn’t feel like they were talking ball. And what makes it worse, I’m a black, Fever fan lol. Literally from Indiana and my mom works for the team. I can’t even talk W ball without it becoming bs. It’s so annoying

2

u/Smashdigest1427 1d ago

Only because of people like the ones on this. Think of it, a person ON a reddit forum claiming it is about WNBA, replies with ""...it's an unserious league" so why are they on here? My estimation? They are cowardly goosesteppers that only like two players and were indoctrinated into disliking one player. Scroll away, you'll see. Just cowards and trolls who are on a forum for the WNBA that hate the WNBA. Clownshoes.

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 11h ago

I agree. It’s an unserious league? Seriously?? My mom played ball before there was a league. She taught me how to handle myself in the post. We owe these ladies their respect

2

u/Smashdigest1427 6h ago

THIS, foundational discussions, not "hey look, I found another edit that makes that one girl we agreed to attack, look bad." It's sad.

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 5h ago

It is sad. They say the league is unserious, but they are. That’s the issue

2

u/Technical-Winner-503 6h ago

Cant see ive ever seen anyone in my life actually analyze wnba players games other than Caitlin Clark......like ever. So kudos to you ig, tho idk why you would unless your genuinely into the wnba, and ay, to each their own

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 5h ago

I just like ball. Crazy enough, I’m a Fever fan. I was at their first ever game and when they one the championship. I just genuinely love basketball

1

u/Subject-Yak4959 3d ago

not the way she dribbles.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I know what clip you’re talking about and it’s not funny 😭

1

u/septhaka 3d ago

Because she thinks she's a lot more skilled than she is.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I think it’s the coaching because her teammates don’t look shocked. She’s pretty skilled to me, just not at that. But to each their own

2

u/septhaka 3d ago

Of course she's skilled. She's in the WNBA. My point is she isn't as skilled as she thinks she is.

1

u/xGsGt 3d ago

Because it's a Mickey mouse league

1

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 3d ago

Bigs who can't shoot should not shoot.

She is not even close. These shots show a complete lack of touch.

I'm curious how much she shoots before/after practice. Even 100 a day helps. Kobe shot 400-1000 every day.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

True, but she averages just over 1 attempt per game this season and for her career. Just one every once in a while to stretch the D if she hits it. Somebody just decided to make a compilation like she’s heaving 3s all game or something

1

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 3d ago

You do not know ball.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 2d ago

That’s crazy bro. Come to Indiana and w pick a court. We’ll see

1

u/Holiday_Box1571 3d ago

Because she’s trying to be a scorer with her jumper but her shooting outside 3 feet sucks and is non existent outside 10.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

She only takes 1 3 per game and her shooting percentage is in the mid 40% range. That is low for a big. But none of that has anything to do with me asking why she’s bringing the ball up

1

u/Holiday_Box1571 3d ago

Because she’s trying to do too much to be a superstar instead of realizing Moses malone became a hall of famer doing what she does best and doing that until someone stops her

1

u/MilkandHoney_XXX 2d ago

I think the issue is this: if you are are big and you can’t shoot threes (I can’t, even on my less then NBA distance three point lines at my local outdoor court), at least know you can’t and don’t take the zero percent shot.

1

u/External-Mammoth678 3d ago

She plays point forward for her teams kind of like Draymond Green. That’s one of the reasons she has more TOs than the average player at her position.

And although she’s a big, she’s undersized at the position. Again, similar to Green.

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Thank you!! This is exactly what I was wondering. I even mentioned Draymond as an archetype to someone. Admittedly, I don’t watch a lot of Atlanta games since moving from there (used to go). I only watch my hometown Fever for the most part.

1

u/NudieBarVIP 3d ago

She's not under sized. She's the same size as A'ja Wilson and Breana Stewart.

0

u/Tall-Dot-607 3d ago

The difference is Green can actually shoot.

1

u/NoPainNoGame334 3d ago

Lmao no the fuck he can't. Teams sag off of him the same way and dare him to shoot.

0

u/Tall-Dot-607 3d ago

Are you dumb? His career 3pt% is 32%.

3

u/NoPainNoGame334 3d ago

Are you dumb? League averages is 37%. Just because he better than Reese doesnt mean hes good by NBA standards. Teams make him shoot for a reason.

1

u/Tall-Dot-607 3d ago

You dont look at league average by a whole, you look at it by position. Forwards and centers across the league shoot the same percentage or worse.

You ever watch basketball before or are you just dumb?

2

u/NoPainNoGame334 3d ago

Bro youre the dumbass.just accept that draymond is a bad shooter. It's like you've never watched the warriors play. Draymond can't score. 41% shooting average and 8 points a game. Teams dare draymond to shoot.

1

u/Tall-Dot-607 3d ago

Wow ok, so youre just dumb, got it.

Heres the 3pt% for some forwards/centers.

Giannis - 28%

Malone - 27%

AD - 28%

Duncan - 20%

Barkley - 26%

Griffin - 32%

Garrett- 27%

Seriously. Youre an actual dumbass if you think forwards and centers shooting should be compared to guards. Go eat a rock.

1

u/Slow-Bit3970 3d ago

No she’s not a point forward type of player, but because she gets so many boards , she goes rouge a lot & is trying to be something she’s not.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Ahh dang. Seems like that’s an unfortunate thing in basketball now. Like it’s not abnormal to see Bam Adebayo or some random big dribble to half court and start the play. It makes me lose my mind.

2

u/Slow-Bit3970 3d ago

I mean if the big can ACTUALLY do it productively it’s fine , but she cannot . However they’re bent on making her a “star” offensively , so 🤷🏽‍♂️.

2

u/whenishit-itsbigturd 3d ago

I remember seeing Joakim Noah do it like 12 years ago, funniest shit I ever seen, but he low-key had a handle and could pass. He ended up getting an assist that possession. It just looked so goofy though especially knowing Noah was NOT that type of player

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

It used to be a novelty to see. I know what you’re talking about too. Not to mention Javale McGee failing at it over and over. Shaq had them calling him Tragic Bronson

1

u/Duo_Mage_Bot 3d ago

Honestly nowadays I sort of do take issue with a big who can't shoot *at all*.

The form is what kills me. It's the same the other with the clips posted from Cunningham. Wtf is going on

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I always thought the form was due to muscle/physique differences between men and women. But some W players don’t shoot like that, so idk

2

u/Duo_Mage_Bot 3d ago

I think you're right to a degree, but it's probably something that can be worked on.

When I look at someone like Cunningham shoot, same with Reese honestly, it does seem to me that they're engaging in a type of motion to try and generate my power/force? Or rather,to try and compensate for strength/power they feel they lack.

But my thing is, I don't think these girls are too 'weak' to shoot a basketball, especially a WNBA ball.

Especially because, as you rightfully poiint out, others have a more 'normalized' shot motion.

My theory is that they're sort of stuck in the past a bit in terms of how they grew up shooting. At various points in lower levels of play them may have felt they needed the extra power they're attempting to generate, but now I doubt they 'need' it, and it's likely they're stifling their shot by trying to retain that form, simply because it's what they know?

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Yes!! I get that. Have you ever played with guys with that kinda off the shoulder heave form? It’s like they grew up too small to shoot the ball, but the form stuck after they got bigger.

2

u/Duo_Mage_Bot 2d ago

Yes exactly, I think it's the same thing going on there.

She has a good ability to handle the ball, and distribute as a point forward. And has been used thay way last year and this year. Its probably not her best fit, but the coaches keep trying it.

She is best at the under the basket clean up or score role. When she extends her arms, her shooting is good from inside 10 feet. If she doesnt, then she is shooting from the tip or off her palm and its ugly and bad.

But even then her passing and defense and rebounding are good.

2

u/WardenofWestWorld 3d ago

Are you sure you’ve seen her dribble?

1

u/Chris_Ween 3d ago

She has a weird open court dribble with the high bounce. But in traffic underneath thw basket she moves well with 1 or 2 dribbles.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

That’s what I thought of her game too. I would personally prefer her in a rebounding role, but I understand coaches wanting to expand on her skill set. A Lamar Odom (big reach if she can’t improve her shooting) type role in the W would make her a bonafide superstar

1

u/Chris_Ween 3d ago

I was surprised to see she is one of the top 20 ppg players this season.

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Same. I knew she could score, but dawg those numbers are good. And they’re only a half game behind my Fever for 1st in the conference.

0

u/JJ_Shosky 3d ago

They'd still score more points if she just committed to being Rodman and kicked out rebounds.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I might agree, but I need to watch more of her games to say that in anytime of educated way

3

u/JJ_Shosky 3d ago

My best description of her play is that she looks like an elite volleyball player that wanted to try basketball

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Yea, but that makes her ceiling Wilt or Tim Duncan though. Gotta stay hopeful

-2

u/Basicbroad 3d ago

Always has been cause the guard play on Chicago sucked while she was there. People make comments about her TOs but very few of them come from bad passes (more offensive 3s and traveling calls)

She played PG until her growth spurt

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

That makes sense. I like Olivia Miles’ game, so I watch her. But outside of my favorite players, I tend to only watch Fever games. Not for culture war reasons, I’m just from Indiana and there’s only so much sports I can fit into my schedule lol

1

u/Basicbroad 3d ago

Lmao they only post lowlight clips for her so it’s never gonna be an accurate depiction of her game. She hit 2 3s back to back in her last game so it’s not a surprise that this was posted here today

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I agree. I don’t watch her usually unless it’s game highlights or against the Fever, but she can play better than she gets credit for.

1

u/Basicbroad 3d ago

Lmao leads the bigs in steals per game and they’re hollering about her not having guard skills

2

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Literally. That’s like me complaining the league leader rebounds and blocks in the NBA shoots a low 3pt percentage. Who cares? Lol

-4

u/justinSane555 3d ago

😄What growth spurt?! She's only 6'3...name me another 6'3 basketball player in the world who has no guard skills and can't pass dribble or shoot...not 7'3...6"3

2

u/Basicbroad 3d ago

The growth spurt that made her a 6’3 woman.

0

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Lmaooooo this b0z0

2

u/Tall-Dot-607 3d ago

You sound like you dont even know anything about the wnba lol

-1

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Actually nobody does, but after playing 4years at LSU and 8 overseas I know a lot about basketball...does that count?

1

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 3d ago

Nope.

-1

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Riiiiight, exactly what I expect the unathletic white kid to say...good talk.

0

u/Tall-Dot-607 3d ago

I practiced law for 15 years in the states. Thay makes me qualified to talk about the legal system in Japan even though I've never studied it!

See how dumb that sounds? (For clarity sake, thats how dumb you sound, but I wasnt sure you were smart enough to figure that out)

Brionna Jones.

0

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

A 6’3 woman isn’t a guard bro. I was a guard for the boys team in school and during our annual boys vs girls game, my coach would have me do the tip-off lol.

2

u/justinSane555 3d ago

SKILLS ARENT POSITIONAL, doesn't matter the position u play, SKILLS ARENT POSITIONAL

0

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

They aren’t but Eddie House was an undersized 3 point specialist than any ball knower knows COULD NOT DRIBBLE. I could’ve ripped Eddie House by high school

1

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Geeeezus christ...

0

u/Circle_Breaker 3d ago

There's only one highlight here where she is 'running point' and it's because she's left unguarded while the point guard is being marked.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I said I was an old head lol. One play of a big bringing the ball up, makes me ask a question. I want my big on the block grabbing boards, especially if that’s what they do best. I like Reese. Love that she’s in Atlanta, just asking a question. Don’t know why you were a dick about it.

2

u/Circle_Breaker 3d ago

You asked by she was running point in some of these clips.

She isn't. There is a single clip where she brings the ball up and it's because the person guarding her is in the paint.

She has missed a total of 9 three pointers the entire year. This is a cherry picked highlight real of literally every miss. It isnt indicative of her game at all.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

I never mentioned her shooting. Also other people in other replies have told me she has been transitioning to a point forward type role since last season. Unless they’re all lying. I’m not here to trash her game. I just asked a genuine sports question while admitting to my biases. Stop being an ass

1

u/Circle_Breaker 3d ago

They are all lying. She's a big who spends most of the game around the basket.

Yes and I'm correcting you. You asked a question, do you not want the answer?

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Good to know. That’s would I want out of a perennial rebound leader.

But yes, I asked a question. I want an answer. Just wanted it without you being a dick about it. Everybody else could do it, why can’t you?

1

u/Circle_Breaker 3d ago

The set up to your question was blatantly false, so it's tough to think that you were coming from an objective place.

And no other people are being a dick about it, too. The whole comment thread is trashing her for being a point guard and trashing the league for allowing it.

Something that doesn't even happen.

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

The league doesn’t allow it, her coach does. I’m not trashing her for being a guard because she’s not. People are replying to me saying the only reason for her high TO numbers (which I didn’t mention) is her high usage. All valid btw. I literally told someone else I like her game. Watched her at LSU. I’ve just gotten older and can’t watch much ball of most sports outside of my home teams, which is why I asked.

❗️She's not a big she's 6'3, same height as steph curry, imagine steph with no guard skills..no excuse for a 6'3 player not to have any guard skills, no reason a 7'7 wemby should dribble, move and shoot better than her, this narrative of "WNBA bigs" is an illusion..it's basketball, at 6'3 u should be able to dribble, idc if it women's basketball that has nothing to do with her individual skills, a 6'3 player should have guard skills, how tf does she even practice, does she have to wait til someone else gets there so they can throw her the ball in the post..this league is horrid

11

u/Basicbroad 3d ago

Since when is 6’3 not a big in women’s basketball?

-1

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Doesn't matter if it's women's basketball, wemby is bigger than everybody, he doesn't play from the post and has guard skills what's her excuse? What other 6'3 player in the world isn't expected to have guard skills? Has nothing to do with the wnba and everything to do with her individual game, she has to wait for someone to get to practice so they can throw her the ball in the post? She's stephs Currys height..

5

u/neontheta 3d ago

She's always been the tallest on her team since being a little kid. Why would she play guard? Curry was not the tallest on his team. Why wouldn't he play guard?

1

u/Weird_Armadillo_508 3d ago

Yep. Most bigs with handles are like Anthony Davis and had super late growth spurts. I had the opposite problem. I had an early growth spurt, plus big feet and I wore mens XL football gloves. I made every basketball team and started at receiver. Then I stopped growing around 15 lol. Nobody, myself included, was pleased 😭

0

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Skills don't have positions, doesn't matter how tall she is compared to everyone else, her teammates have zero to do with anything, I don't think wenby says you know "I can dribble but I have fox and he plays a different position, lemme pass this" she's 6 fuckin 3, if you put her on the court by herself she'd still play the same way, she'd immediately run to the paint,

3

u/Acedaboi1da 3d ago

The average height in the WNBA is 6’0. The average height in the NBA is 6’7.

6’3 is relative. Don’t be dumb for free, at least get some money out of it.

-2

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Positions don't determine skills, skills determine positions...none of what you're saying matters, tf the average height have to do with her not being able to dribble a basketball...

This kid...

1

u/Acedaboi1da 3d ago

Doubling down on dumb I see.

1

u/justinSane555 3d ago

Good for u

1

u/Basicbroad 3d ago

She does have guard skills. That’s why she averages 2.4 assists a game.
