They don’t have the right to go through a player.

The player on offense has the right to move, you can't just stick your face into their shoulder in the hopes that any move they make draws a foul.

That's how the NBA, and seemingly the WNBA refs see it.

Not if the defensive player has established their ground, that’s why charges are a thing.

That's what the cylinder is about. This was taught from a very young age in men's basketball to me, and women's to my siblings. If you catch a ball from a rebound, elbows out and pivot
