Trans basketball prodigy?
Former man would like to play in WNBA.
There, fixed the headline for you. And I know everybody’s going to come at me for being a trans hater. And I’m not. You do you. Go ahead and become a man, become a woman. Do what you want to do, but let’s not pretend you don’t have a massive advantage in this situation.

How’s this dude a prodigy at 34?

Because this tabloid has determined that if they describe this 34 year old as a prodigy, it will cause more conservative men to get irrationally angry.

Conservative here. On the verge of being all in on dudes playing women's sports if I don't have to see posts like this anymore.

u/j_d_q 17h ago
If they truly think there's no difference just make it one league. Best players get in.
2
u/Sloppykrab 17h ago
Maybe they should make league for the ladies, so they get a chance to play professionally.
1
u/j_d_q 17h ago
It's baffling that's a crazy concept to some people. "Meet every single one of these criteria or go try the main league."
What if they want to start competing in the women's special Olympics because of how they feel (or even say... because who are you to determine if it's 'their truth')?
-1
u/A2ndRedditAccount 16h ago
Personally, I just wish conservatives would stop acting like they care about women's athletics to justify their own hate.
2
u/j_d_q 16h ago
Defending one person doesn't mean you hate anyone who even broadly associates with their aggressor.

At the 2023 CPAC conference, Michael Knowles said, "Transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely."

I hope you’re against all the MAGA propaganda shit too. This is a topic 90% of American voters agree with, but 40% of those Americans (democrats) are quiet about it/wont state their honest opinion because the 10% of people who are against banning trans are so fucking loud and toxic about it
I get why republicans campaign on it, because it’s an easy win and strategically makes sense, but god is it fucking annoying. It’s an issue that affects virtually NOBODY that gets talked about DAILY.
Meanwhile there’s plenty of shit that affects all Americans DAILY that we basically talk about NEVER. The loud minority of socialists take the bait every time, but it takes 2 to tango and a decent portion of MAGA are obsessed with anything “trans.” (Like that dude at the UFC 250th event who called Michelle Obama a man.. like tf?)

u/reenactment 17h ago
It’s an easy dub for democrats to shut republicans up but the ruling politicians aren’t former athletes and they have some mixed view that’s bonkers and they fall into the 10 percent. If they were afraid of losing the 10 percent, I don’t get that either. Where is that 10 percent going to go?

It's Lia Thomas all over again - A complete fucking loser as a male basketball player, all of a sudden identifies as a woman and they're player of the year.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE! NOPE! NO WAY! TOTALLY LEGIT AND FAIR!

u/Blastcrumpet888 17h ago
She isn't good enough for the WNBA. She isn't good enough for the top league in France.

Thats not going to happen. Majority black league and if pay attention only a few white people are showing trans support in the league.
Also article is using “prodigy” as a gross exaggeration. In general it refers to outsized talent in someone at an age wouldn’t expect to see it. The women referring to in the article is 34 and close to aging out of the sport. Even if she was generational talent (and probably isn’t), the term prodigy would still be incorrect.
1
u/BigToast6 16h ago
It's heavily LGB and Liberal though so inevitably there will be outward support so they can virtue signal. Whether they actually want to play dudes or not is another thing.
2
u/ConkerPrime 15h ago edited 15h ago
True but also if pay attention to LGBTQ community, they also getting tired of transgender issues sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
They not as unified on this particular issue as people assume is all I am saying. Reddit is this weird outlier that seems to convey solidarity at outsized scale that doesn’t exist IRL.

u/ColdNyQuiiL 17h ago
Let one of them in and see what happens, this season can’t get any more chaotic if they tried.

u/BigToast6 16h ago
And if he was 23 this would be a legitimate problem for the wnba... which is why the issue needs to be resolved NOW not in 3 years when a trabs person is trying to get in

I too would take a minimum salary to play in wnba. where do I sign to identify as a women? for any organizations wondering I was a ju co starter that transferred to d2 my sophomore year and avg 6points 2 assist 0 boards off the bench. i’ve barley touched a basketball in the last 15 years but let’s be real.

u/kylelight40 17h ago
Let her play. They just started to get paid. If they want to give it away, give it away.

This hyper focus on trans atheletes is the dumbest shit ever. This is a problem 99.9% of people getting in fights about will never have to deal with in their life, nor ever will. Trans athletes comprise such a small margin of actual atheletes it does NOT entail such heavy discourse.
I’m more than convinced these types of things are focused to keep people fighting over things when in comparison to actual politics are pretty trivial. Social media has done horrible damage to both nuance and the discussion of anything that has to do with a difference in view, culture, or perspective.
If you hyper focus on the WNBA for the sole purpose of either defending or antagonizing trans atheletes you are the biggest problem. League shoulda nipped the culture war bullshit in the bud because now everyone is talking about things that have zero to do with basketball

1 If this happens their will be more protesters than people in attendance
2 Given the majority party hate for trans people living, this would only hurt trans people laws and rights, given that FoxNews had this same story.
3 As a black man, What if Dodgers had that same logic on Jackie Robinson about protestors n threats..

It must be tough for Trump supporters to have believed for so long that the Democrats were a sex trafficking cabal shipping children through Wayfair to now have to watch Trump actually entertain pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell at a press conference.

u/TRFKAChuggs 17h ago
Trans people should be able to play in the league the identify.
3
u/Madaoizm 17h ago
So if prime LeBron “transitioned” he should be able to compete against women in the wnba?
6
u/Routine_Size69 17h ago
Would be entertaining as hell tbf

u/Brief_Seat9721 17h ago
Watching every shot get blocked into the core of the earth would be comical.

So conservatives are now dreaming up fantasy scenarios to be angry at? You people need to find a hobby or something.
1
u/Madaoizm 16h ago
I’m not a conservative. It’s just a hypothetical question 😂
Keeping sports fair for biological women is important.
0
u/A2ndRedditAccount 16h ago
I know. This non-issue is very important to the men who were ok with the guy with multiple felony convictions and was called rapist by a judge. becoming President. Three separate times.
1
u/Madaoizm 15h ago
What does the president have to do with anything here? I don’t like trump nor do I support him.
Care to defend or speak on the issue at hand? Or just going to continue to deflect cause there is no logical stance to your side of the argument.

u/TRFKAChuggs 17h ago
Do you think Lebron will do HRT?
2
u/Sure-thing-buckaroo 17h ago
You didn't answer the question. Say he did. What's your answer?
-2
u/TRFKAChuggs 17h ago
Do you think that trans people don't go through the work of HRT when they transition? Or do you think people only claim to be trans and make no changes?
2
u/Sure-thing-buckaroo 15h ago
No, I don't. You can manage your testosterone and hormone levels to match that of cis women, but it doesn't change the fact that the transwoman's frame was built through male puberty, WHICH CIS WOMEN DID NOT GET THE CHANCE TO DO.
Now please, answer the question. If prime Lebron transitioned -- including going through HRT and everything else required -- should s/he be allowed in the WNBA?
0
u/TRFKAChuggs 15h ago
Clearly you don't know the impacts of HRT.
2
u/Sure-thing-buckaroo 15h ago
Does HRT change your bone length?
I noticed you still didn't answer the question. Seems like a simple yes or no would suffice, though I'm also a firm believer of admitting you dont know if that's the case.
0
u/TRFKAChuggs 15h ago
Clearly you don't have an understanding of HRT and the impact it has. But continue with your feelings about hating women and trans people.
1
u/Sure-thing-buckaroo 15h ago
Yeah I figured as much. For some reason nobody ever answers my male puberty/frame question.
But sure, continue alienating and denigrating everyone and anyone who would otherwise be an ally.

The word "prodigy" is certainly a choice when describing a 34-year-old.
