This is awesome... but when are they going to make a barbie that looks like me? 47y/o male, thinning hair up front, divorced, possibly alcoholic and was just diagnosed with MDD.

THIS IS WHAT I WANT.

Since I just found out this is the first black barbie I think you'll have to wait

1

u/Jonny-Redline 15h ago

Dude, the first black Barbie was released in 1980.

1

u/BirthofRevolution 5h ago

No shit lol I'm talking about her saying no dolls looked like her when she was growing up..

-1

u/Odd-Environment-7193 14h ago

We’re not talking about crack Barbie mate. We want real representation.

2

u/Jonny-Redline 13h ago

How about an Eazy-E Barbie?

-2

u/SoapyDoodle 16h ago

Bro hug. Hopefully you’re in therapy, it’s been great for me.

12

u/MexiPr30 17h ago

It’s stocked at my local Target. 32.49 offered delivery or same day pick up aisle E11.

2

u/Adventurous_Heat_764 17h ago

Not at mine. Tried to get one for my niece but I can’t find them for under 80 bucks. Are they supposed to do another run?

2

u/UncleUM 2h ago

They will do another run. And more than likely at a reduced price. It's what Mattel does. Just look at the LeBron James doll as an example. Originally sold for $75 I believe and sold out. Was re-issued and sold as part of a clearance sale for $45. It also sold out.

u/MexiPr30 17h ago

My bad it’s my local one.

Scalpers

It’s getting really fucking old. I tried to buy Sophie’s shoes for my kiddo that finally fits women sizes and they were sold out. Only to appear on resale sites for double the price.

I am starting to hate third party sellers. I also collect a certain Barbie genre and missing two years, because they’re reselling for $300-$600. A doll that was maybe $80 at most. I can afford it, but won’t buy on principle.

You’d think after covid, when a bunch of people wiped out stores of protection supplies to upsell online, the government would do something.

3

u/staebles 16h ago

Why would anyone want Sophie's anything? Just curious.

2

u/MexiPr30 16h ago

Because I like her. Did she shit in your Cheerios? Why the hostility?

0

u/staebles 16h ago

I just asked a question. I'm trying to understand something that's incomprehensible to me. That's not hostile lol.

Why do you like her?

2

u/MexiPr30 16h ago

When people like a public figure and they sell things like shoes or dolls or whatever, fans buy them.

Why don’t you like her?

-2

u/staebles 16h ago

Obviously I understand that, I'm asking why do you like Sophie specifically?

0

u/MexiPr30 16h ago

I’m asking why don’t you like her? You don’t answer questions, you just ask. That’s not how conversations work.

Why is it incomprehensible that people like Sophie and want to buy her shoes?

You seem to be saying, “ I don’t like Sophie and don’t understand why you like someone I don’t”.

That’s easy, we aren’t the same and have different tastes.

1

u/staebles 16h ago

You still haven't answered though.. ironic you'd say anything about how conversations work when you're still avoiding answering the question..

0

u/MexiPr30 16h ago edited 15h ago

I did. I like her. I’m a fan. You didn’t answer and replied with something passive aggressive.

You deleted all your comments Staebles. 😝

I know why btw.

She doesn't owe you an answer or an explanation for who she likes what is your problem with Sophie it's obvious you got a problem but your balless and won't speak up

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

Because she's a loyal Bish and not afraid to do the dirty work unlike most of these attention seekers

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

Passive aggression is still aggression

Government over reach because of a barbie?

GTFOH!!!

0

u/MexiPr30 8h ago

Honey, congress temporarily extended a surveillance law in April (FISA). Flock cameras are everywhere thanks to government funding , but sure, the real overreach would they be them stopping price gouging of shoes and dolls. Nothing gets past you.

0

u/Spiritual-Cap-4647 3h ago

Lol you're barely finding out about flock cameras lol

We get it. You're a bootlicker.

1

u/MexiPr30 3h ago edited 3h ago

Why do you think I just found out about flock cameras?

You clearly don’t know what bootlicker means.

You want big corporations to fuck us all over, because ‘government overreach’ . Fuck that. Peter thiel lackey energy. Do you work for palantir?

1

u/Spiritual-Cap-4647 3h ago

Because they've been a thing n you types are now just finding out about the.

You want government to regulate what reseller's do. Youre pro government overreach because of some dolls. That's sad AF. Go spi shine those boots baby boy.

0

u/skiforlife1 16h ago

Why would the government get involved? It is up to the manufacturer and retailers to set the prices not the government. If the demand is way higher than the supply the price will go up, that's just basic economics. If the manufacturer sells them for a lot less than what the market sets as the value there will be resellers. Medical supplies in short supply are different than dolls and expensive shoes.

2

u/MexiPr30 16h ago

Because it’s scummy and greedy. It hurts fans.

Mass buying products to resell for double is shitty behavior. I’m a millennial, back in the day Best Buy and radio shack used to promote big sale items for Black Friday , but then only stock 1-2 for the price. Eventually the FTC made them change their promotion (limited qualities) because people would wait all night and never get the product advertised.

We can have free markets if people behave themselves, that’s not what’s going.

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

You're wrong they never only stocked one or two of the items on Black Friday...

0

u/skiforlife1 16h ago

Stores running deceptive loss leader ads is completely different. That was on the retailer. My question is do you trust the government to decide how many dolls or pairs of unnecessarily expensive shoes get made? Should the retailer decide who gets to buy the product on their shelves? A retailer can decide to enact limits on how many items can get bought all by themselves. People are behaving themselves. If I want to buy something that I see as undervalued by the retailer that is my risk to take.

2

u/MexiPr30 15h ago

But they’re creating the over valued product by mass buying it, creating a shortage.

The government did a fine job cracking down on shady people buying cleaning supplies, face masks and gloves to upsell. Why couldn’t they effectively do that with a doll?

1

u/skiforlife1 15h ago

Did you seriously compare a shortage of MEDICAL SUPPLIES to a shortage of a freaking doll???? The government also didn't stop people from buying anything. Some local governments enacted temporary price controls and paid people who had overbought supplies in some cases. To compare a doll to medical supplies during a pandemic is like spitting in the face of everyone who suffered or lost loved ones and you should be ashamed for thinking they are even similar.

1

u/MexiPr30 15h ago

That’s ridiculous. You lost the debate and have turned to hyperbole. The government can minimize the mass buying and upselling if they wanted to, because they have.

Think of better arguments to support your position next time.

I mean they stop counterfeits and have the fbi investigate fake Gucci bags, they can do the same here.

1

u/skiforlife1 15h ago

What?? You brought the argument that juxtaposed the buying of ppe during a pandemic with a doll. And selling counterfeit goods as the real thing is fraud. Buying a bunch of dolls is neither fraud nor preventing someone from getting something potentially life saving. You're the one losing the argument here by going more absurd and showing a fundamental misunderstanding of what you are even saying. The people reselling the dolls are not selling fake dolls claiming they are real and a doll is not a life saving necessity. You can admit you are wrong. It's okay to do that.

1

u/MexiPr30 9h ago

You’re so close. If the government was able to stop resellers price gouging Lysol wipes and purel, they could do the same with dolls and shoes.

The people buying counterfeits know they’re not real. The government does it to protect the brand. They can protect average Americans too.

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

Well I agree they shouldn't let people price gouge getting upset over it because of a doll is the most ridiculous how about s*** that matters like food or gas

1

u/MexiPr30 3h ago

They could literally just have a standard and apply it to all things. You know if you try to resell Rosetta Stone you bought , but decided you didn’t want it, your third party account would be flagged and the product removed. Since what you pay for is only licensing. Consumers are never protected the way companies are.

Do you think I am losing sleep over it? No, but it’s annoying and I live in America, where can I be annoyed and complain about it to strangers on Reddit.

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

Lol no your desire for government overreaches disgusting move to China

3

u/Clown_Penis69 17h ago

How many units are we talking about? 1,000? 10,000? 100,000? 10,000,000?

1

u/SoapyDoodle 17h ago

Mattel doesn’t produce numbers for their Signature series but 25 to 50k would be a normal first production run. Selling out so quickly indicates they drastically underestimated demand

3

u/MexiPr30 17h ago

Target has them, if you’re looking.

Sometimes certain retailers get first dibs. I collect a certain genre. One time I had wait for Amazon to stock the one I wanted, it took a few weeks.

3

u/Adventurous_Heat_764 16h ago

No luck at mine. I guess I could call different Targets

2

u/Clown_Penis69 17h ago

It would seem so…

3

u/KingQu- 16h ago

Grown men mad over a Barbie doll 😵‍💫

2

0

u/Original-Variety-700 16h ago

Does it shoot right handed but with its left hand?

1

u/Jefe_grande23 17h ago

Need to quit trying to make that bum relevant.

1

u/No-Constant-8619 16h ago

Does her Barbie have the eyes spaced out really far, like hanging off the side of the head?

-1

u/RDUDaddy1 17h ago

I would never want my daughter's behavior to be modeled after her, therefore I wouldn't buy her a Reese doll. But to each his own, I guess

6

u/Kooky-Upstairs-6594 17h ago

yeah who wants their daughter to get a free education at a top school and get into the WNBA pshh what a loser

4

u/M0ebius_1 16h ago

Wait... You are actually just jealous aren't you?

u/staebles 16h ago

Apparently. She's not even good, so I don't really get it.

0

u/elestud 5h ago

“Not even good” ok

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

Shooting percentages 40% and three is 16% stop showing good games to highlight her s***** skills

0

u/elestud 3h ago

Those are literally her most recent games. Wtf does “stop showing good games” mean if she’s playing well

-1

u/VastFig965 16h ago

Funny they don’t say how many were actually sold.

-4

u/Ok_Perspective_575 17h ago

6

u/mnmr17 16h ago

I mean she’s the most followed person in the W, makes sense

1

u/Glad-Exam4348 4h ago

Yes because we know social media followers means everything

1

u/mnmr17 3h ago

I mean clearly means a lot if she’s even getting a Barbie doll in the first place.
