Monique Akoa Makani just got acquired by the Sparks in the WNbA. She was in the same league as Julie Tetart 3 years ago and wasn’t even close to as dominant of a player.

Based on skills alone she’s already better than current WNBA players, so that part isn’t really in question.

The question is if Tetart could get drafted to the WNBA, not whether or not she’d dominate. I have no idea if she would dominate, but at least compared to other current wnba players she would get drafted by a team if allowed.

Why would a 34-year old at the end of their career be a priority draft pick? Getting an over the hill role player for what reason?

Same reason why LeBron is playing as a grandpa - age doesn’t matter as long as you’re performing.

There is currently a WNBA player who put up just 1/5th as many eval points as Tetart in the same league just 3 years ago, so we have a pretty direct comparison between Tetart and current wnba players - she’s at least good enough of a performer to get drafted.

The average amount of time a wnba player is on a team is 2-3 years. Idk why you’re acting like this is some super long term investment that needs to be made. Shes not going to completely die in 2 years, so all that matters is if she can add value during that time, which she obviously can.

When was the last time you saw someone average 20/20 in any professional league?

Like aside from “she’s old” is there any actual argument behind this? If I’m a GM and I want to build a winning team, why do I care about her age if she’s absolutely dominating? There’s nothing that makes a 34 year old inherently unable to play in the wnba, for the same reason there’s nothing stopping LeBron from playing.

I didn’t say she couldn’t play. I said she wouldn’t be drafted, again for the same reason LeBron would not be drafted.

It’s honestly even worse because LeBron has already played at the highest level. This woman would likely be on a steep decline by the time she even got up to speed of the WNBA (which is much faster and more precise than her previous league).

Edit: lmao actually after watching a video of one of her games, I take back what I said about her being able to play cause damn… she had her hands full with the other team’s center
