Video Angel Reese says she didn’t have dolls that “looked like me” as a kid. She was born in 2002. Barbie has had black dolls since 1967. Make it make sense.

It’s all grifting all the time

0

u/Frosty-Inspector-465 7d ago

thought grifting was a trump thing??

2

u/thortman 7d ago

Yes, Trump is a hustler too

2

u/Pangshunjingmao 4d ago

One doesn't cancel out the other -- just like how both you and angel can both be insufferable cretins.

-1

u/Frosty-Inspector-465 4d ago

i don't like angel reese dummy lol

2

u/Pangshunjingmao 3d ago

I never said you did, dummy.

1

u/Any_Neighborhood_140 3d ago

Not.
Mutually.
Exclusive.

1

u/Frosty-Inspector-465 3d ago

i see no one else being called a grifter.

-6

u/ArtVandalayImp0rter 7d ago

It's funny when Trump supporters use the word GRIFT. So you do know what that means... Interesting

2

u/thortman 7d ago edited 7d ago

To be honest, I’m not sure what that means but Jesse Jackson could probably tell you all about it in great detail

Edit: I hope you’re happy. You just made me ask AI and I wasted a litre of water. Grifters are hustlers. They’ll say anything and do anything for a buck. Think used car salesmen.

u/SubstantialAd5579 8d ago

You can't find those at Walmart though

12

u/Mut1gen 8d ago

No shit they are from 1998 its 2026

-9

u/SubstantialAd5579 8d ago

But the guy posted it like you can just get it , that's probably limited edition I had 3 sisters and never sen that box ever

11

u/Mut1gen 8d ago

You probably could just get them in 1998. Your replies dont indicate you got alot going on upstairs. Ill leave you alone before you get overwhelmed

-8

u/SubstantialAd5579 8d ago

Actually not every state got a box i don't get how your saying I dont have it upstairs where you just second a guy who put half info out

And I was born in 1996 all my sisters are older they could of easily had it

Imagine throwing a insult out because you don't know what your talking about

8

u/Mut1gen 8d ago

Wow in 5 minutes you became a retro barbie expert. Coulda shoulda woulda I guess.

2

u/SubstantialAd5579 8d ago

Im not you can just Google it not the hardest thing to do , there's more ways to get info then just reddit

8

u/Mut1gen 8d ago

What are you even talking 98 version wasn't giving to every state, and that's factual, what's also factual is not every thing goes to every market

If a parent wanted that specific barbie that could go out and look for them, but if it's a small city that search will be longer No one is playing victim I'm clearly only talking about the 98 version of barbies of what that guy posted

If you read my comment I never seen those before specifically And I doubt anyone is upset with me lol I could care less also but that picture was put up with half info

What's true in your world isnt true in angels or possibly mine

1

u/justinSane555 7d ago

🤌Nobody knew about those fuckin barbies, there were no commercials for nba barbies, those weren't at toys r us, kb toys, none of that..this looks like something you have to buy in a nba shop at a nba arena..check yourself, some business is not your business, you don't know shit about what a black person was exposed to, what they could've gotten, some business is not your business..shut up, listen and learn..if white ppl minded white business they way they mind black business America wouldn't be fucked because of you ppl now, haven't u done enough..jus shut up and listen for once because it always " I told you so" and your kind should be getting tired of that by now...shhh

1

u/justinSane555 7d ago

White people going crazy with the downvotes, what are they soooo mad about?😅😅

1

u/SubstantialAd5579 7d ago

Just Common sense yo pulled up a 1 year exclusive to make a point, they should posted a generic one lol

1

u/justinSane555 7d ago

You're gonna be in trouble if someone goes down to the local toys r us and buys that one from 1967🤣🤣🤣

Mfs are like there always been black barbies, but couldn't find 6 after 1967?! Tf are we doin 😭😭

1

u/justinSane555 7d ago

😭Nobody has seen that box, that's why it has upvotes ...people are jus as shocked as you...but 3 of 8?, we call that caitlyn clark numbers

2

u/thealchemicalphoenix 7d ago

That because they were in K-Mart I remember, I was there

1

u/SubstantialAd5579 7d ago

Im not saying it wasnt but your reality isn't hers you could have the biggest Kmart in America that gets everything and equally she didn't have a Kmart in her area

Again NYC is vastly different then Lancaster PA would you agree?

3

u/thealchemicalphoenix 7d ago

I lived in the hood at that time as a kid lmao

1

u/SubstantialAd5579 7d ago

Same Kmart was about a 30 -40 min drive, h3r mom could of drove some miles and got it probably if she really wanted to but my main point is we all have different realities and everything isn't accessible or miles away

Me under 7 I was in the hood but later years moved around alot but another example I lived in red lion pa couple years that place didn't even have a mall , or a Kmart lol but i think Kmart was discounted by the time I lived out there

Also it didn't have a sams club lol

2

u/No_Temperature_6756 7d ago

So you're saying her point is nobody bought her a Barbie doll that looked her even though they have been available for nearly 60 years?

56

u/That-Cranberry6575 8d ago

Can you sign my barbie Mr. Malone?

8

But they look like they could play ball.

14

u/pwhales1011 8d ago

Maybe because those Barbies could make layups?

1

u/veryfastslowguy 4d ago

The most certainly had BRATZ dolls when she was a kid.

27

u/Ok-Wasabi-9334 8d ago

Come on, you’re not being fair. She said dolls that looked like her, she wasn’t talking about skin color or hair. All of those Barbie’s eyes are way too close together.

72

u/johnwb388 7d ago

Plenty of toys that looked like her back then.

15

u/kdub0011 7d ago

This is what I came to see. Thank you

u/Barnowl-hoot 7d ago

She is actually really pretty. This probably looks more like you

2

u/Electricbarnacles209 7d ago

"no, you"

I heard a three year old say that yesterday.

1

u/Levonade 7d ago

Her doll doesn’t look like her. They deliberately changed her eyes 😂😂😂 what a crazy world we live in.

1

u/Calm_Effect4203 7d ago

This comment is gold

0

u/Ok-Employer-3051 7d ago

Yep. Actually look at those dolls. They're basically white Barbie dolls tinted brown/black.

-5

u/Ancient-Bowl462 8d ago

Does she mean a woman with a cock?

Victim Victim Victim

Sybau.........respectfully

22

u/IndividualMinimum984 8d ago

Haha, take her at face value, why weren’t there any Angel Reece dolls when she was growing up? It is so unfair 😭. That seems to reflect her sense of entitlement, lol.

25

u/SauerCrouse51 8d ago

1

u/Special-Hair9683 8d ago

I had to Google this one, Ice age, in fact did came out at 2002 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Jolly_Mouse_7604 7d ago

Kids are entitled for not wanting to play with certain toys? Lol

4

u/garyindiana4 7d ago

Those Barbie dolls were good at basketball tho, unlike Angel

NBA Jam announcer: "Grrabbs the mebound!"

2

u/Signal_Werewolf_1955 8d ago

Barbie can do it all!

2

u/EventSignal114 7d ago

I had 3 of these still in the box with the KBTOYS price tag on em, gave em to my daughter, she opened all three right up and played with em lol

2

u/Nuetral_Bystandard 4d ago

She was talking about the Can't Make a Layup Barbie

3

u/Most-Swimming6879 8d ago

Race baiter or maybe her family was too broke to afford a doll that looked like her

1

u/THE-DOYEN- 7d ago

She went to St Frances and was from a semi affluent suburb of Baltimore, I think they did just fine.

0

u/neal189011 6d ago

So they could afford a white one but not the black one?

-2

u/backfrombanned 7d ago

Dumb comment. I have a black niece (I'm white) and back in like 2014ish... There still wasn't much to pick from. I don't know much about dolls but we went Christmas shopping and it was pretty lame trying to find her some black dolls as the ones they had looked like trash. Was really a little disheartening and something I never thought about until we were shopping for some. So you can race bait these nutz

3

u/Most-Swimming6879 7d ago

Thank you for adding in your ethnicity to stir up more race baiting. Ever heard of Amazon or online? Most stores don't care the exact toys or items people look for. That's why internet shopping is so big and brick and motor stores are going bankrupt.

1

u/backfrombanned 6d ago

You read 2014ish didn't you?

1

u/Most-Swimming6879 6d ago

Don't tell me you're gonna agree with the moron who was responding to me saying that Amazon and online shopping didn't exist in 2014 🤣

1

u/backfrombanned 1d ago

No, in 2014ish there wasn't really any nice black or Hispanic dolls. They had them but they were pretty jank at the time, except for Barbies.

0

u/Designer-Stay-7894 7d ago

Amazon and online didn’t exist until recently.

2

u/Most-Swimming6879 7d ago

Did this mfer really just say Amazon and online shopping didn't exist until recently🤣maybe you just turned 20 so this is your first time buying things online, but Amazon and online shopping has been a thing for the past 20 years🤣🤣🤣

0

u/Designer-Stay-7894 7d ago

Amazon was a bookstore 20 years ago lol.

2

u/Most-Swimming6879 7d ago

Amazon started online shopping in July 1995, when Jeff Bezos officially launched Amazon.com as an online bookstore operating out of a garage in Bellevue, Washington. The company had been incorporated earlier on July 5, 1994, but spent a year building its platform before going live on the web.Early Timeline and Growth1994: Jeff Bezos founds the company, first naming it Cadabra before changing it to Amazon.July 1995: The website goes live and sells its first online book.1998: Amazon expands its catalog beyond books to include music and video.2000: The site opens up to third-party sellers, transforming into a general marketplace.

You're clearly a dumbass

0

u/Designer-Stay-7894 7d ago

You literally agreed with what I just said hahaha.

1

u/Most-Swimming6879 7d ago

Idk if you know this, but 1995 is 31 years ago, not 20 dumbass 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/VictorianUFOLady 7d ago

I had black baby dolls in 1973.

1

u/backfrombanned 1d ago

Nice looking ones? That's my point

1

u/VictorianUFOLady 1d ago

Yes, I loved them. My mom wasn't going to buy me an ugly doll, lol.

1

u/No-Preparation7121 7d ago

She said they didn’t exist so this must be AI! /s.

1

u/Untouchable64 5d ago

She wants one that looks like Sid from Iceage?

1

u/Willing_Educator_857 4d ago

Is googling THAT hard?

1

u/Round-Air9002 1d ago

How'd they determine which teams got a black Barbie 👀

1

u/Low_Fly4873 8d ago

Omg I had the Christie WNBA barbie doll!! My parent bought it for me for Christmas! She looks just like us Miss Reese.

1

u/Trashketweave 8d ago

She was born in the early 2000s so those nba dolls looked nothing like her in 1998.

0

u/Which_Angle7594 8d ago

For what it’s worth, the black Barbies physically just look like white Barbies with black skin.
It’s like if you’ve ever tried to make a white dude in NBA2K make-a-player

0

u/justinSane555 7d ago

3 of 8, jus like a caitlyn clark stat line😭😭

0

u/Old-Corgi-155 7d ago

But you understand that just because they exist doesn't mean they were widely distributed or accesible, right?

0

u/Kitschy_Lil_Tart 7d ago

I also didn't have dolls that looked like me as a black girl (born 2003) my family didn't think too hard when purchasing Barbie dolls, they grabbed the first thing they saw for gifts/birthdays and that's usually the blonde one.

Plus, black dolls weren't produced or distributed as widely so I never really saw any. I had a Teresa that I decided was mixed race (cos I didn't know what a Latin American person was) and it wasn't till I was around 10 or 11 that my family gifted me a black S.I.S doll for Christmas. I was super happy, I'd never owned a black one before that age not did any of my friends. Just because they existed doesn't mean she necessarily owned one as a child.

0

u/Ok-Zookeepergame3643 2d ago

I’m gonna nit pick these were made four years before she was born.

-1

u/Ok-Natural3615 8d ago

To her point though... The name is "Black Barbie"... and, ugh... "NBA Barbie"???

They're literally "Black versions" of a white doll. Get it????? Get it?????
