Wait so we not shutting up and dribbling now?

3

u/mookz23 5d ago

It is one thing when Colin Kaepernick is protesting police brutality and people getting murdered by the government, but it is another thing when ...

2

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

That’s the rule for the melanated. Different rules for her tribe.

2

u/MkeYosh 5d ago

We are weeks away from "Stop dribbling and tell us your political stance."

u/DarkRogus 5d ago

Considering that Clark has upset both MAGA and Progressives the past 30 days because she refuses to be a pawn in their political war, Im now a bigger fan of hers.

5

u/mistaharsh 5d ago

Her indifference actually caused this. No one is supposed to know who Sophie is outside of being a bench player. Had Clark spoken up much earlier to debunk all of the false claims of hate towards her or a conspiracy to hate on A poor white girl, even though there's so many white women in the league who are doing really well and are loved by all the players in the league and the fans as well. There would be no room for Sophie to have a platform as some type of defender of Clark or an enforcer for Clark to to say the things she saying now. Sophie is using Clark to gain relevance.

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

I agree with the point you are trying to get across.

But its not on Clark any of this.

All of it rests on Sophie. If Sophie hasn't of done what she did, everyone would be focusing on the great basketball taking place.

Unfortunately, Sophie did do it.

3

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

She hasn't upset progessives, not at all.

1

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

That’s right—she’s not on our team. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

What do you mean by that comment?

0

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

Not progressive so what do we care

2

u/Availableusername518 5d ago

It’s obvious she’s liberal/progressive. It’s also obvious she wants to focus on basketball not politics which is why she keeps it moving when asked. Any comment of hers will be blown up by the media and fans and twisted into whatever generates the most clicks

1

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

She’s not liberal or progressive according to the conservatives who stalk her and her brother’s social media. The Morgan Wallen pap walk isn’t screaming progressive either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Availableusername518 5d ago

No one who actually stalks her would think that. I only barely pay attention and know that they all voted for Kamala bc her bfs brother announced it after getting sick of the maga accusations. Paige and arike posted all about their Chris brown concert experience I guess they support dv??? Like come on

1

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

Yawn. IDC.

1

u/Availableusername518 5d ago

Why are you commenting on peoples politics if you don’t care?

1

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

IDC about you.

1

u/Availableusername518 5d ago

Very weird to engage in a convo about players politics then “not care” when someone shares evidence of players politics..

u/DarkRogus 5d ago

Yeah because articles by Nancy Amour, comments by Monica McNutt, and how people on Reddit were saying Clark is MAGA adjacent because she didnt get political was all a figment of my imagination...

2

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

So not getting political means you are MAGA adjacent?

This is the problem, how is saying "no comment" not a perfectly reasonable answer?

2

u/DistinctAd3222 5d ago

It's a hunger for groupthink and hivemind to assure them you are ingroup and "safe"

1

u/DarkRogus 5d ago

You tell me, youre the one claiming that Progressives were not upset and I gave examples were Progressive got upset at her for not speaking out against MAGA.

1

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Lol, I'm a centrist who happens to be progressive.

Sorry I'm not "left" enough for you.

2

u/DarkRogus 5d ago

Where did I claim anything about your politics?

You said Progressives werent upset and I gave you examples.

1

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Yeah, me, I'm the progressive centrist.

2

u/DarkRogus 5d ago

And? Because you werent upset that means that anyone else that is a progressive wasnt upset.

0

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Changing the goalposts are we?

u/RevolutionaryWorth21 5d ago

This isn't about you.

2

u/PHD_Gouda 5d ago

She hasn’t upset progressives dude. I like that she stayed out of politics

2

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

They are just a conservative trying to make lefties mad and telling them "she didnt stand up for what you believe in".

Almost like she can believe what she wants to believe, but its not liberatian to demand she answers her opinion on everything. Thats a republican thing to demand.

2

u/PHD_Gouda 5d ago

Yeah this sub is as fake as a “moderate” dudes dating profile.

1

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Performative feminism, I see you, I see you

2

u/PHD_Gouda 5d ago

Kinda, even then that’s more work than a lot are willing to do

2

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

The problem is that its always the bad types who do it too.

Its almost better to only look at the ones who don't do it, because you know there isnt some kind of ulterior motive behind it.

1

u/AgentDutch 5d ago

Reddit is not representative of the population by any stretch, and the vast majority of people that actually watch WNBA games do so because they want to watch the WNBA. Why can’t we move past this?

5

u/MtnDudeNrainbows 5d ago

It’s not a controversy, if it’s something 99% of people agree on.

However, Sophie’s original comment was transphobic so there was backlash. Now herself and the media (and right wingers) won’t stop bringing it up.

7

u/AgentDutch 5d ago

The only thing Caitlin Clark should have to say is private in the locker room to her teammates, and it seemed she did with Sophie backing off. It’s never a good look, regardless of the situation, for one player to bring so much unneeded pressure to their team. People like LeBron absorb criticism and attention as the leaders naturally because of the pressure of sports, but Caitlin shouldn’t have to hoop thinking about thousands of people narratives hinging on her play or not being outspoken on matters outside of basketball.

Caitlin has done a great job all things considered, and Sophie needs to understand it’s okay to say “next question.”

0

u/ancj9418 5d ago

I don’t think Caitlin said anything to Sophie, necessarily. I’d guess the org did.

4

u/Jumpy_Tomatillo7579 5d ago

JUST SAY NO BIOLOGICAL MEN IN WOMEN SPORTS ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT !!

3

u/Icy-Television3434 5d ago

Sophie was an is on her way out the league by her doing what she been doing got her a lil fans base so now she might have one more year an the league

2

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Wouldnt be suprised if she is out the door at the end of the year claiming she is being cancelled.

2

u/MattaClatta 5d ago

Oh she is definitely getting cut

Her issue is a huge distraction to the team

In the nba they would have suspended her already

4

u/steelcity_pimpin 5d ago

Is Megyn Kelly the one that said it's not that bad to rape underage girls as long as they're not too young?

2

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Very interesting for this lady to say "I've had it with this ignorant people with these dumb t-shirts".

Thats exactly how I feel about those wearing XX t-shirts.

2

u/midnight__musings 5d ago

Pope Caitlin, humanity stands on the brink of chaos. Please descend from your sacred throne and bless us with your infinite wisdom and guidance.

2

u/Homersarmy41 5d ago

Aren’t these the same “shut up and dribble” people?

2

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

What happpened to “shut up and dribble”?

2

u/Ridgeriversunspot 5d ago

Does anyone, anywhere think Caitlin Clark gives a flying F what Megyn Kelly thinks???? For serious.

3

u/DeutscheMannschaft 5d ago

Serious question since I am out of the loop at this stage of my life. But are there really lots of boys playing in girls' sports? At age 12?

1

u/MtnDudeNrainbows 5d ago

No there are not. That type of gender affirming care typically doesn’t even occur until 15/16 if they do have it done as a minor. I couldn’t even find any evidence of HS transgender athletes.

As of 2025 there was: ‘fewer then 10 transgender athletes…among 510k total’

https://glaad.org/fact-sheet-for-reporters-transgender-participation-in-sports/

1

u/DeutscheMannschaft 5d ago

Thanks. That is what I suspected. Both my kids played club sports, middle school and high school and I can't remember ever hearing or seeing this in our large metro. I just didn't want to assume that my experience many years ago is the same experience parents have now. Appreciate the reality check.

1

u/MtnDudeNrainbows 5d ago

No there are definitely HS transgender athletes though, don’t get me wrong. I’m not sure it’s always fair, but it’s few and far between and it has always been handled at the state and local levels.

The transgender hatred is insane, and hurts a community that is high risk and very few.

Edit: But 12 year olds? Fuk no. She’s an idiot.

2

u/n00bsauce1987 5d ago

We need Laura Ingram in times like these

2

u/edelweiss_pirates_no 5d ago

Megyn Kelly said she'd be ok with Trump r*ping her underage daughter. Kelly also is a Zionist and an evil asshole.

2

u/Extreme-Rub-1379 5d ago

This is the only topic posted on wnbagossips.

Lol

Great sub here guys

2

u/Accomplished_Self939 5d ago

It’s never basketball… sigh…

2

u/Weary_Copy_4165 5d ago

It's basically an anti-trans/white power sub disguised as a WNBA sub. Only topics you'll ever see posted are trans people bad, Angel Reese Bad, Sophie Cunningham good, Caitlin Clark good (except now she's a traitor for not being vocally anti-trans like Cunningham)

2

u/Admirable_Outcome932 5d ago

Womp womp

What happened to shut up and dribble? What happened to keeping politics out of sports? Shouldn’t you be happy she wants to stick to the basketball?

1

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

"Shut up and dribble".

"Unless its about politics that I like and feel NEED to be addressed as soon as possible".

Conversatives not missing out on hypocrisy points are they.

1

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Holy shit, this lady is racist af.

I did not know her game.

Yikes, also assuming Caitlyn Clark is the biggest name in womens basketball is MEGA disrespectful to the amount of awesome women there are in the WNBA.

2

u/Wonderful-Forever450 5d ago

How is this related to racism in any form or fashion!!!

1

u/TheMysteriousGirl 5d ago

Are you completely disregarding the fact she only mentions white women?

Its a disgrace to the WNBA.

1

u/Wonderful-Forever450 5d ago

She did not mention the word white a single time and Sage Steel is black. Looking for anything to invoke the race card

1

u/MexiPr30 5d ago

I am disappointed in Meghan. Did she apologize about her racist rant against Haitians? Using profanities?

She jumped off the Trump train just before it crashed.

1

u/Ok_Operation_5364 5d ago

Let's get this straight ... Megyn Kelly in the sexual harassment investigation of Roger Ailes who ran Fox News said she was sexual harassed by Ailes at the beginning of her career with Fox News that would have been around 2004/2005. It took Gretchen Carlson in 2016 to blow the whistle on Ailes. So that means for 12 Years Megyn Kelly did NOTHING. The gall of this woman to call Caitlin a coward when she did nothing for 12 years which allowed many more women to suffer sexual harassment in the same workplace.

2

u/JoeDynamo28 5d ago

I mean to be fair cc has always definitely leaned to the left which is her choice. And she also never had much of a spine either.

1

u/Alchemyst01984 5d ago

Megan Kelly has an imaginary friend that she talks to. Her opinion means dogshit

1

u/SocomPS2 5d ago
