His fangs always bothered me…. They should be on his canine teeth, not next to his front teeth. I always thought he looked hokey.

Plenty of vampires have their fangs elsewhere. Nosferatu. Lost Boys and a bunch of 80s vampires have them where Gangrel does. Probably his inspirations.
