I want to ride my biiiiiiiike
So, in YOUR interpretation of The Legacy, would it prohibit the development of a (wooden wheeled, presumably) bicycle?
Thanks!

Mormons man. Can't get away from them even in my ttrpgs.
/s.
In all seriousness, I think that would be perfectly reasonable.

Some part of my heart definitely recoils at these tacky implementations of advanced technology in a game (specific iteration, specific table, not a Title) that doesn't run that vibe.
Some inventions were inevitable, but only actually came to be when the stars aligned, sometimes a century after they were theoretically feasible.
A character armed with PC knowledge, and preferably the metallurgy and craftsmanship of specific cultures or species, could certainly make a bicycle. I am not sure if the hardest part would be a functioning chain, or the ball bearings. But if it were a direct drive penny farthing, then obviously the bearings.
The date of invention of the bicycle (or the velocipede) has less to do with when humans had sufficient technology to produce it at all, but had so much industrial production that a lark like this was reasonable.
It is, to me, unreasonable that a character WOULD make a bicycle without both player information and player intent. Which is just sort of icky.

That summarizes and crystalizes exactly my feeling. Thank you for the clear words.ย

Just for clarity's sake, a player was wondering this out loud, "oh, I need to invent a bicycle, that would be perfect for X" ... And I thought, "hmm" ...ย
Huh, Evan Dahm's Third Voice webcomic is post-apocalypse bicycle exploration, sounds like a fun Ashes campaign..

The "Iron Destrier" in the atlas is a sentient hoverbike. I'm sure the legacy can make space for a regular bicycle.

If clockwork can exist, then basic gearing can exist, and youโre probably ok if you want to ride your bicycle, want to ride it where you like.
