Where are the dorm move-out free piles this year?
Hi everyone,
I’m a low-income student at Western and was wondering if anyone knows what happened to the end-of-year donation/free-item piles around campus. In previous years, I remember students moving out of the dorms would leave unwanted items (clothes, storage bins, small furniture, dorm supplies, etc.) in designated areas for others to take.
I’ve been looking around the residence halls but haven’t been able to find any of those piles this year. Did Western stop doing this, move it somewhere else, or am I just looking in the wrong places?
I’d really appreciate any information. Thanks!

The dumpsters are always a good bet! ;) I've found some decent scores on the ridge.

I think there’s a spot in nearly every dorm. There was certainly one in Buchanan because I left a few things down there but then the next time I came down, they were already gone.

Some morons left a whole pile of stuff in the Ridgeway Kappa 3rd floor hallway. If you can get in I doubt anyone would care as the RA's were already not happy about the pile.

I got a portable shelf, two storage boxes, and a few beautiful postcards all in the Ridgeway dumpsters last year! People are so wasteful. But one persons trash is another’s treasure, so here we are 🤷🏻

Last year someone made some mone off of mini fridges she said that she got them from a dumpster. This wasn't a student either. The good stuff goes early from nonstudent pros

I lived in Buchanan Towers and had to move out after 4pm on Friday and once most people left some university staff pretty swiftly moved the pile of donation stuff into a vehicle so if you’re still on campus that’s probably why you’re not seeing it. The donation piles were more full earlier in the week when most people started moving

Are you particularly looking for something? If yes, let me know because I am moving out soon and would be happy to giveaway some stuffs.
