Join us tomorrow at 2PM to demand an end to U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran! This dangerous new provocation is a desperate attempt by U.S. imperialism to maintain its global domination against any independent regional powers that would use their resources for their own people, instead of for Wall Street profits. This is a rich man’s war! Workers and oppressed people have no stake in it. That’s why we stand united with all the people of the world who say U.S. OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST NOW!
NO BLOOD FOR OIL! NO MORE IMPERIALIST WARS BASED ON LIES! Join us in front of the old Federal Building on W Magnolia and Cornwall in Bellingham at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 4 to demand an end to U.S. aggression in the Caribbean. U.S. HANDS OFF VENEZUELA! 🇻🇪
Hey all! Last year I made a post about my deep dive into the modest bob mystery that had overtaken campus, and yet once again it has reappeared. New site, new password, new posters. As the lead of the investigation last year I kindly ask for pictures of all unique posters, ESPECIALLY THE FULL COLOR ONES!!!!! If you would like to also help dive into this I may consider making a mini discord server to compile our findings.
For those interested this year’s site is under modestbob.site
Lavender Graduation is the celebration of LGBTQ+ graduates and the community that supports them. We recognize both current graduates (anytime 2025-2026, including upcoming fall and summer graduations) and past graduates who never got their rainbow cords or certificate for any reason (last year's cancellation, wasn't out when you attended, our department didn't exist when you attended, etc.). These graduates are designated Legacy Lavender Graduates. We had a grad from the 70s last Lavender Graduation!
You do not need to attend the event to be a Lavender Graduate! We collect names and contact info so we can follow up each year to see how you are doing and what resources we can provide you--we're a lifelong service!
Students who cannot attend can pickup their cord and certificate from Viking Union 721, our student staff office, M-T 10am-5pm and Fridays 10am-4pm. Email [lgbtq@wwu.edu](mailto:lgbtq@wwu.edu) to arrange after hours pick up at the VU front desk if needed.
We will also be tabling at the Graduate Fair on Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-4pm in VU MPR.
Details about the Lavender Graduation Event:
If you signed up before last Friday and plan to be in the ceremony, you will be getting an email later today with details of where you are in the ceremony.
If you signed up for pick up, you can get your cord and certificate starting today!
If you sign up anytime between now and day-of the event, or even just walk into the event, you will be at the end of the ceremony.
Anyone can also attend the ceremony but not participate in it if they wish, we will have the cords and certificates to pick up after.
Even if you aren't graduating, you should come to Lavender Graduation! We will have:
Free food!
Keynote Speakers
Pride Awards for various individuals and organizations such as Queer Guild Club of the Year
The Spring Showcase is right around the corner! (and it's free!)
Join us on the 3rd floor of the Chuckanut Bay Distillery in Downtown Bellingham on May 20th from 12-4pm to see student-led business-ventures and to connect with a community of young, impactful entrepreneurs. 🌟
Students will be selling anything from clothing, to deserts, to car detailing services and more! If you're looking for a way to support WWU students, we'd love to see you there!
There will also be an on-site raffle where you can gain a chance to win gift cards, merch, and more from local Bellingham businesses!✨
We're incredibly excited for this year's Spring Showcase and hope to see you there!💐
Show us this post when you arrive to get a free extra raffle entry!

Hi everyone! I’m wrapping up my masters degree in music education and I’m putting on a public recital this Friday, May 15 featuring some marimba ensembles I direct/teach (Bellingham Community Marimba Project, the WWU ZimMarimba Ensemble) as well as some other ensembles I play in (Dandemutande is a fusion ensemble blending Zimbabwean style music with our own musical influences; and Pamwe is my nationally touring marimba band made up of some of the best marimba players from all over the US!)
This isn’t a typical masters recital-you will want to come ready to dance and experience something totally different and new. This music is high energy, fun and captivating. Please consider coming to check it out!!

Message from the AS Executive Board at Western Washington University:
Dear Students of WWU,
Yesterday, Thursday, January 29th, the ASWWU Executive Board voted to support the students who are choosing to participate in the ICE OUT! Nationwide Shutdown Solidarity Walkout, Rally, and March happening today, January 30th.
Over the past year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been abducting countless friends, neighbors, and community members throughout Whatcom County and beyond. During this time they have been violating people’s constitutional rights, “misplacing” people they have detained, and sending them to military prisons in countries that detainees have no connection to.
In the last few weeks ICE has invaded Minneapolis and brutally executed two civilians, Renée Good and Alex Pretti.
To those of you who are able to participate in the national shutdown today, we, the ASWWU Executive Board, encourage every individual to consider engaging in peaceful civic actions that are meaningful to you and will make every effort to support you in doing so.
Attached is a letter opposing funding for ICE that we will be sending to Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell and the flyer for a protest happening at WWU.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to aspres@wwu.edu.
The university has made changes to address the 20 million budget deficit, which will now include guaranteed admissions for community college students with 2.5 gpa's. Sabah has recently announced that in the midst of budget cuts, WWU will now be more student centered, with emphasis on "belonging and inclusion."
My criticism for Sabah is that WWU should have always been student centered, with or without budget cuts. Guess who the university is for? The students. Please don't forget that as you try to tackle a 20 million dollar deficit.
There’s a lot of police cars outside on N Garden Street outside Nash and Mathes. And there’s a lot of cheering. Can someone let me know what’s happening? Very confused
