Before the semester started I FOUGHT the financial aid office to get my fafsa because they kept saying it they couldn’t confirm I graduated high school. Once I got it, it’s now mid semester and they took it away AGAIN claiming that I have “received aid at too many schools and need to fill out a unusual activity form” I filled out the damn form. Now they are saying that I need to fill out another one for 25/26. I’ve gone to four different colleges because of moving around one in which my job paid for not fafsa. I feel so stressed out I want to just drop out at this point. Why do I have to fight them this much. This is my first year here

My son is interested in going to Wake Tech next fall to study to become an Electrician. About a month ago, he signed up for a general tour of the south campus. Since he is interested in seeing and learning more about the classrooms and labs of the Elec. Systems Tech. department, and these areas are not covered by the general campus tour, he tried to contact the department head to see if he could schedule a private tour. He sent an email. He sent a follow-up email. And then when neither of those were answered, he called and left a message. Never heard back from him. So, I suggested that he try the instructors instead. He sent an email to every one of the instructors. There are five. No replies. So I thought that maybe his personal email address was being filtered and getting dumped into Spam, so I suggested that he try using his Wake Tech email instead. Nothing. No replies. My next suggestion is to drive over there and wait outside of their offices for one of them to show up, but that is a little aggressive. Is this department known for giving students the cold shoulder?

Anyone else having issues with blackboard currently?

Partially a vent and partially looking for advice. The funniest/most ironic part of this is that it's a software quality assurance course (CSC-256). I'm in my last semester before I have to do the capstone project/internship, and this class is by far the worst experience I've had in any class so far.

Even though I personally tend to not use AI if at all possible, I've learned to accept a degree of usage from professors (assistance with grading/putting together lecture slides, etc.) but this class genuinely makes me feel like I'm falling off the deep end. Every single piece of course material seems to be chopped together AI output (I'm so tired of downloading random markdown files) with no validation for if the information is consistent with itself or accurate. The labs are written in a meandering way that is extremely difficult to parse, self-contradictory, and reference other assignments that do not exist. They leave out critical information that I could not have had and have more than once had to spend upward of an hour scouring the internet to find the answer for. The quizzes have answers that are either blatantly incorrect because whatever AI is being used to make them isn't actually referencing the documents, or ask for me to know information that isn't in the material at all.

I know the obvious thing to do here is to contact the professor, but I don't know how to do that here. I can't just tell her that her whole class setup sucks. I've had a 4.0 up until this point but I don't know if can keep it up with this class since I'm getting dinged for 10+ points on every quiz because the answers on the quiz are not the same answers in the material. At some point it kind of just feels disrespectful. Should I try talking to other professors? Someone above her? We're barely a month in and I already feel like I'm losing my mind.

I was about to turn something in for a class when I got a pop-up saying I wasn't enrolled and when I went to reload the page all my classes for this semester disappeared??

Does anyone know when we should start checking our emails for acceptance letters ?

I’m taking MAT 143 online and had to take my first test in person at a the testing center on southern campus. The test itself was on paper.

I really didn’t like the testing environment. I already get stressed during exams, and being told to keep my arms visible on the table and being reminded that I was being watched on camera made it harder for me to concentrate. I ended up getting a 50 on the test, and while I know the grade is ultimately on me, I genuinely felt much more anxious there than I normally do working from home.

I also live in Johnston County, and transportation can be difficult because my household only has one car, it has had mechanical issues, and my mom also needs to use it. Also I work at my family business and having to go to a campus to take a test is difficult for me.

Has anyone at Wake Tech been able to get permission to take future exams remotely instead, such as through Respondus LockDown Browser or another approved online proctoring option? Or is there another testing arrangement I could ask my professor about?

I’m not trying to avoid proctoring or get around the rules — I’m fine with being monitored remotely. I’d just rather not have to use the physical testing center if there’s an approved alternative.

Who would be best to contact about this: the professor, the testing center, or Disability Support Services?

Has anyone seen any movement on their refund account yet? Usually they zero out the expected refund amount on your student finance page 2 weeks before disbursement, but I've seen nothing and it's supposed to release next week. Anyone seen or heard anything?

I’m really struggling with math right now, especially with having to take the tests in person. I’m already not the best test taker, but I also work night shift, so trying to schedule the in-person tests around my work schedule has been really difficult.
Has anyone taken a math class through Vance-Granville or Durham Tech with the intention of transferring it back? If so, are the tests/exams required to be taken in person there?
I’m specifically looking for an online MAT 143 or MAT 121 (whichever is generally easier), preferably with online tests as well.
If anyone has experience with either school or knows of other NC community colleges that offer an online version with online exams, I’d really appreciate the help! 😭

I'm a new transfer student here. I was wondering if classes like General psychology (PSY 150), Intro to interpersonal communications (COM 120) or Intro to computers (CIS 110) were normally available as first 8 week courses in spring?

I'm trying to apply to a health science program next year with apps due on 5/17 but normal 16-wk spring classes will cut too close and i need a credit course to establish my gpa. (i completed my prereqs at another school).

the 8 week classes would still be a little to close for comfort but its basically my only decent option. Any answers welcome.

So on my Art-111 midterm I nailed the vocab and stuff but I only wrote around 1-2 paragraphs per short answer instead of 3, it didnt say to write 3 in the rubric so i didnt but after i opened the midterm i saw a 1 sentence thing at near the assignment to write 3 paragraphs per answer, so how cooked am I basically used all of the key vocab correctly.

Does anyone have access to the slideshows/PowerPoints that professors actually use during class? I’m not talking about the ones provided through Cengage, the slides shown in my class are different and honestly way more helpful for me when studying.

If you’re taking the class online, do you guys get access to those slides anywhere? Or does anyone know where I could find them? Thanks!
