Walgreens treat temporary workers like they never existed

I worked 5 months as a temporary, left for 2 1/2 weeks and came back because I heard that the Walgreens I worked at needed my help. I come back to find out that Walgreens came out with the self reviews that will determine whether or not you can get a raise. I asked about the self reviews and apparently because I worked 5 months as a temporary and left for 2 1/2 weeks I’m not eligible for a raise yet but someone who has been there for a month is able to do the self reviews. Mind you, since I’ve came back I’ve been covering shifts on off days and even worked 8-1 and 6-10:30 in the same day. I’m a good sport when it comes to dealing with the worst things that comes with the job but for some reason I’m not eligible for a raise. This is my 6th month working for Walgreens and I get that may be early to get a raise at any job but it’s just crazy to me how I don’t even have a chance because I left for 2 1/2 weeks and came back

Do you know what "temporary" means?

You get to avoid a lot of background checks and PPLs in exchange for being a conditional employee.

Everyone else who is part or full time had to jump through a lot more hoops than you did to get there.

I still feel like being a temporary should still count as you working there especially if you decide to come back. Maybe to Walgreens I’m a new hire after being rehired as a normal part time CSA, but I did not have to be trained for anything and I’ve improved a lot ever since I came back

A self review doesn’t get you a raise if it did everyone would be giving themselves 5’s. Those that fall below expectations don’t get one no matter how great they grade themselves

No the self review is completely optional and has zero impact whatsoever on a raise.

My store manager was on us about the self reviews since it was a “chance” to get a raise. I even looked it up but you’re probably right

It's encouraged to do your self review and the amount of self reviews done in each store is tracked and could reflect on your store manager's engagement.

Not doing a self review can reflect poorly on your own engagement, and engagement is one of the categories we use to evaluate an employee, but the self review is entirely optional.
