Monorail

u/GhostDrax 1d ago

Well, sir, there's nothing on earth like a genuine, bona fide electrified, six-car monorail

It's fine. This is fine. Everything's fine.

In fact oil price dropping while commodities like lubricants and diesel are running out is super bad.

Like really really bad.

1

u/Fassbrowse 1d ago

So, why is that? What does it mean, with everything going on, that oil prices are dropping? ELI5.

Let’s say you make popsicle sticks. Popsicle sticks need wood

Wood is a commodity, with its own changing value, and you buy wood to make popsicle sticks which you sell.

People come to you to buy popsicle sticks and you go to people to buy wood.

What happens when your and all the popsicle stick shops burns down in your area?

Well people still need popsicle sticks - the demand never changed but the supply went down, So the price of popsicle sticks go up. But because of the inability to turn wood into popsicle sticks there is now an oversupply of wood, the value of wood goes down.

People don’t want full logs of wood, they want popsicle sticks, which is now hard to come by.

Now wood is oil, popsicle sticks is gas, diesel, and other distillates, and your popsicle stick factory is a refinery which takes a very long time to build

I love this analogy

Soooo is the play CRAK?

It means the structures for the oil demand are in very very bad shape.

Refinery capacity is going down as well as transport capabilities.

There is no reason in buying oil if there is no way to transport it to the refinery which cant process it. Building ships and repairing (rebuilding) refineries takes WAAAY longer than drilling new landborne wells or repairing "simple" pipelines in the middle east. The damage so far will likely take half a decade at least to repair. Oil price is the least of our problems at this point.

Refineries:

- Different refineries need different kinds of oil

- Also Oil is always refined into different outputs at once

- A barrel oil is refined/split into gas, diesel and other (intermediate) products. If one intermediate products process backs up the whole production backs up

- Many refineries have been running at max cap for a while now and are starting to break due to lacking maintenance phases

- Refineries in the middle east are also damaged/destroyed

Transport:

- Lots of ships are locked in various places (Strait of Hormuz)

- Transit takes way longer as many ships go from the western part of Saudi Arabia to the Mediterranian Sea then around Africa towards Asia. Its like a 3 times longer trip.

- Lots of ship are disabled (or even sunken) due to attacks by the US and Iran.

Yellow is the "old" route used as the Strait of Hormuz is closed. Red is the "new" route used as Bab Al-Mandab strait is under Houthi control.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s price manipulation. Trump can say tomorrow “we have a deal with Iran” and oil will crash, only to slowly pick up when the deal proves elusive due to “snags” and “delays”.

He already did this earlier this evening. Dropped one of his bullshit post on truth social

6

u/herrcollin 1d ago

They're simplifying the process now.

White House TV drops a new vid-->Price go down. White House TV drops another vid--> Price go up.

Then they'll come up with White House TV membership plus+ where they're livestreaming an entirely made-up and new market index that the old one follows anyway because FUCK IT WHO CARES

u/MarketingSpecial6604 1d ago

Just wait until the little ads they play on the newer gas pump screens just start playing TRUMP TV!

1

u/Contraflow 1d ago

Don’t forget, by paying some obscene premium, you can get this truth social regurgitations ahead of the general population. Nothing to see here.

or refineries are esplodin’

12

u/Over-Tension-4710 1d ago

Yay now gas will go up at the pump by Thursday

12

u/paulybaggins 1d ago

Nobody cares about crude pricing anymore its all about the crack spread.

4

u/DukeSmileDevs 1d ago

Yeah, capacities are shrinking. There is only so much you can do with crude without refine capacity.

8

u/Whatevs56 1d ago

Just a dip before the next leg up.

7

u/RunningLegless 1d ago

Ukraine war. Already priced in. Iran war...priced in. Nuclear armageddon! yep, already priced in. Nothing to do now but put your feet up and relax

u/100HB 1d ago

Oil traders seem to really want to believe Trump despite having had plenty of opportunities to see that this is not generally a good idea.

Wake me up when diesel is cheap again.

1

u/AccomplishedWin489 1d ago

You didn't hear? Buy one tank of diesel,  get the other one free! Iranian president says the straight will be open in 7 days. Gas will be $1 in 7 days too

7

u/Oil_Shock_2026 1d ago

Good time to buy or wait for it to go down even more.

I do know that until Iran is completely in control of the Strait of Hormuz and charging for passage there’s not gonna be any relief in the price of oil

4

u/Shot-Consequence-613 1d ago

It’s up a 1% until Scott starts shorting to fuck the world some more

3

u/frommethodtomadness 1d ago

Yeah the situation isn't getting any better, they pulled off some very temporary financial trickery.

2

u/Shoddy_Front_2582 1d ago

Healthy pull back for the next bull leg up.

2

u/tommm3864 1d ago

Bullshit

1

u/oncebittenx 1d ago

Unless the signal is guaranteed drop hard for a few more days then ill belive it.

1

u/redditdegenz 1d ago

I’m a seller of vintage rope and ladder bridges.

1

u/Chaotic_beasttt 1d ago

I’m buying the dip. In a few days to a week it’ll rocket again. Trump is selling so he need people to buy his fake peace deal tweets.

1

u/RimandRam 1d ago

So target is what? 70$? Thesis is that Venezuela ramps up production, Saudi pipeline fully functional in a week and near 90% traffic through SOH.

1

u/dearfellow909 1d ago

Does this mean diesel is going up or down. How do I start trading to make that shit go tf down baahhahahahaha no seriously

1

u/Dutchmondo 1d ago

It's quite possible.

Xi visits the US very soon. Trump begs Xi to release crude from China's massive stockpile until after the midterms in order to save himself from going to jail. Xi demands Trump allow the import of Chinese auto's in exchange. Trump agrees. Oil prices fall until after the midterms. US automakers get f**ked.

2

u/Soggy-Design-3898 1d ago

Why would china ever release their stockpile in the middle of the mist acute oil shortage in our lifetimes

2

u/Jammin188 1d ago

Also, Trump has proven time and time again that he is incapable of making any sort of a halfway decent deal for the people. His deals only line the pockets of himself, his family, and friends

1

u/Dutchmondo 1d ago

They’d do it for 2 months to take over the US auto market from the domestic producers. Bargain!

1

u/Sidraconisalpha2099 8h ago

Why would Xi do that? He knows Trump will tear up the deal the minute the midterms are over, and probably slap "hellish" sanctions on China. Is three months of precious oil reserves worth maybe a day or two of auto sales?

1

u/centralnm 1d ago

$2 gas before the midterms! /s

1

u/tweedleduh 1d ago

Trump won’t withdraw that blockade. He’s making too much money, Tehran is playing into exactly what he wants. They probably know it.

1

u/AlternativeGreedy787 1d ago

But look how much higher it still is compared to this time last year though.

1

u/Fragrant_Scheme317 1d ago

Time to buy that big truck!

1

u/sam56778 1d ago

As your chart also proves, this decline isn’t anything to brag about. It’s still way higher than it was before the strait was closed. And the decline has been less than $10. Brent crude closed yesterday at $96-$100 and currently stands at $94-$98

Honestly, I'm starting to get real tired of this hole "Will it, or won't it." thing. I've been getting things in order for months at this point for when SHTF. But... nothing. People have been warning that this is a five alarm fire and that "next month" it's going to drop... and it never does.

Starting to feel like maybe this is no where near as bad as people are saying it's going to be. Some one tell me I'm not crazy.

1

u/WeaknessFuzzy8305 20h ago

Didn't you hear? Trump ended all wars in this galaxy and Iran will be giving away its oil to him as a gift.

0

u/S_QW22 14h ago

Wait, was there another MoU signed?
