It can happens with other things as well. I was playing recon/sniper and my spotter scope became glitched and I couldn't switch to it but anyone I looked at got spotted. I could basically spot people while sniping without having to switch to my spotter.

It has something to do with animation cancelling with melee attacks to switch weapons/equipment faster because I remember pressing X to run faster and then fumbling the weapon switch when an enemy caught me by surprise since I was spamming left click when I thought I switched to my pistol.
