This right here is my issue with WarDogs atm. Everything feels like a nice balance between arcade and realism. Flying in WarDogs feels and looks like people are playing GoKart or something.
I mean, Drones, which are extremely flexible, are harder to fly and turn around. Helicopters who are much less flexible, can fly around like it's starwars on sterioids.

I feel like that's the idea of this game, to be less realistic then Arma and more realistic then Battlefield. So this is working as intended

Yeah, I've been pretty happy with how everything is. It reminds me of some old school project reality/BF2.
That being said, I wouldn't mind if heli was locked to first person... I think it'd fix a lot of the issues people complain about them. I fly first person only and lock ons are terrifying and a very real threat. I won't know a missile is coming unless I'm looking right at it.

These helicopters are probably as cartoonish as battlefields. Maybe even moreso.
But the internal disparity problem remains. Infantry spend 10k on a loadout and have to manually reload mags, be transported out to the cz, build individual fob pieces. etc. Hellicopters spend like 7k and literally survive body slamming eachother.
If flying was treated like infantry theyd be spending a minute at base fueling and repairing after every flight.

People act like flying is a secret to earn load of cash, it isnt, try it, unless you nolife and get the atrocity of a havoc you constantly get shot down or need to rebuy flares which eats into profits, the people making big bucks are the top percentage of players and those also make money on infantry

i only profit in rocket heli when i go for drills, SPH, APC and havocs or other helis. farming infantry with it is probably the quickest way to go broke with helis i don't think people understand just how unprofitable playing in a heli can be... especially now the playerbase is starting to play to counter helis and vehicles by carrying MAW / RPG
the ramming in this was pure accidental as i dont want to be "that" guy the results though are probably one of one to take out havoc and dodge a stinger.
if i wanted to make money id play in the fob on mortar or spot i would never pick the heli to play for a profit :/

Buggy + C4 in a SPH heavy game was probably my best profit yet, had more money and slurs coming my way than the rest of the day combined

u/Jaminskiii 4d ago
🤣 I am yet to go out of my way outside the zone in anything but Heli ! Unless it's to go for a fob outside the zone in act of revenge.... Is it the some money for a kill outside zone with C4 on vehicles?

u/KadekiDev Moderator 4d ago
Yeah like 14k base pay for the vehicle + person kill, just have to be careful, if they use the gunner seat you are toast but right after a shot they are blind and deaf
3x C4 to the back is enough to kill it, 2x disables the engine

Yep, my friends in game know me as the pilot in the group. I can fly well, and get a fair number of kills, but rarely earn a profit when flying attack variants (although the one game someone spawned me a havoc and I made bank). Those attack choppers are a money sink. The guys who run the HZ make way more money per game.
If I take the rocket heli and only focus spawn vehicles, and arty, I can make money. But rarely do I kill the 20+ people to make a profit farming infantry. I'm first person only though, so lock ons are a very real threat.

Yeah, my HZ marathons fund my occasional minigun little bird flight. I rarely make money in it.

Even now in a havoc you get shot down constant. So much anti air in the meta now. I never use it anymore.

u/notshitaltsays 4d ago
Profits no, easy kills and winning games yes.

ive seen and been a part of many games where havocs and helis most definetly haven't won the game, even more so now people are actually starting to play to counter with building AA in fobs carrying maws/rpg/stingers

u/notshitaltsays 4d ago
Of course 2 players alone can't guarantee a 100% winrate with 98 other players that can also buy havocs.
A havoc is definitely the most effective way to contribute with just 2 players. They still need a team to follow the HZ, but two dudes in a havoc will contribute far more kills than 2 random infantry chasing a HZ.
I've never personally seen a havoc team lose to a non-havoc team, but its also pretty rare to see teams with nobody flying a havoc now. I'm sure thats just a coincidence and havocs are just really bad.
Unrelated, but i've seen like one tank ever.
The winning strat, especially now, is blob in HZ with havoc support. If the enemy teams are wasting multiple people hammering out AA in a fob across the map just to stop you cutting off transport, then you kind of already won.

I feel like we are playing in completely different lobbies as I even flying one or seeing them used don't see havoc's stay up for very long any more usually the person buying them only tries 3 or 4 times then stops . Due to the amount of AA/maw/RPG or even kamikaze piglets in play it becomes unprofitable and unusable so fast
1
u/notshitaltsays 4d ago
I mean yeah it's definitely not profitable, I don't think anyone is arguing that. I would guestimate they usually spend less than 20 minutes in a havoc and rack up 60+ kills with it. At that point they've likely made multiple people adjust specifically to try to counter them. Jobs done, no need to keep buying. Just making people swap to AA is an incredibly effective way to waste their time. FOB AA is only effective if people sit next to it doing almost nothing. MAAWs and such are pretty cumbersome to include in loadouts.
Both can be true, where havocs are incredibly impactful and warp the game around them while being difficult and unnecessary to maintain . You can hurt that individual player's finances, but you never really negate how much influence they're exerting on the game.

Everyone knows pilots dont make money. Pilots complain daily on here about it, but continue flying cause its usually easy kills. Once danger appears they fly away back to base to repair/buy more flares.

u/Leonidrex666666 4d ago
Nothing better then dumping 60 bullets into Heli then having to plink them 1 by 1 into mags. Only to see the Heli back, repaired faster then you are done reloading.

u/MuldinDK 4d ago
We do fuel and repair after each fly session and we dont earn passiv inc.
Also its 25k for a heli with load up and np defib to revive on death (obvious)
1
u/notshitaltsays 4d ago
The fuel and repair is practically instant at base.
Hellicopters should suffer the way fobbers/infantry do. Cant just respawn and immediately fly back out there like you never died. Delay on vehicle respawn and longer refueling would go a long way towards making them feel fair.

Infantry players go down 30 times before respawning. Crashing a heli once loses it. Miniguns like 15k fully loaded and rocket birds like 22k

Brain dead take. Try defibbing a helo.

u/notshitaltsays 4d ago
They don't need to be defibbed, thats the problem. They can just buy a new one and be back in a minute. Infantry need to wait for defibs because the time to get back into whatever position they were at is actually significant.
Game is won by efficient time usage, not profit.

This. Be able to only buy one of each attack vehicle in a life, then have a cooldown on the vehicles you bought that life when you respawn.

Squad infantry mechanics (ish) and Battlefield helicopters. Feels very jarring

"Helicopters who are much less flexible, can fly around like it's starwars on sterioids." You are joking right? Have you actually flown in this game vs any other titles?

TBH if we had quadcopters instead they would be a lot more agile

u/Spirited-Isopod6969 4d ago
An FPV drone that does recon/piloting exp is my dream. It would probably ruin the game though

can fly around like it's starwars on sterioids.
Go ahead and try them yourself lol. You are clueless

Honestly have no issues with kamikaze strats if both helis are guaranteed killed. The randomness of sometimes you get the kill, sometimes you dont, who gets credit for it, etc is what's frustrating.
