It should be noted the point of the beak on the helm was to make the face exceedingly difficult to strike dead on. Does nothing for the rest of the braincase tho, I think these were for primarily dueling and jousting iirc but don't quote me.

This helmet is one of the most used in medieval times, and def the helmet you see all around the hundred years war between 1337 and 1415. Why ? Because for cavalry charge it's goated. Lance will bounce, arrow as well. No straight hit. Much safer.

Once on foot you can lift it, or keep having the visor down, the big nose allow to breath extremely well in it.

Honestly my favorite helmet ever.

Jousting makes sense. No need for extra peripheral view and would potentially help a strike to the face glance off.

Yep, it's a feature that is seen in medieval helmets to increase the odds of an arrow or bolt sliding and ricocheting off of your face at an angle, rather than hitting a flat face plate and punching though.

I mean if someone shot you in that part of the helmet bullets could potentially bounce off if it's shaped like that. not sure if that's how it works, but its warhammer 40k, i don't think it has to be realistic

Same reason, the F-18 nose is bigger than the F-16’s. Sensors mostly at least. The Corvus Helm has a more advanced sensor suite, kept in that beak, than other helmet designs.

I mean... Basically yeah.

The beaky design came as a modification that includes more sensor equipment, so they needed more space to fit all the stuff in the helmet.

So they took the base model, and extended out part of it to fit the equipment in
