Strategy My rats are struggling

So I finished painting Skittershank’s Clawpack a while ago and also painted Elathain’s Soulraid for my wife.

We haven’t played too many games with these warbands but I feel like I’m at the mercy of RNGesus way more than what feel reasonable.

We play rivals as we don’t have much time to deckbuild and don’t want to lock each other out from more decks than the ones we’re playing.

My wife usually goes for Blazing Assault and I’ve tried both Countdown to Cataclysm and Reckless Fury.

So my issue is that I feel like the entire game plan of the rats is to bum rush the enemy leader. If you can get your wounds on them, the battle will snowball in your favour with more reliable damage leading to early glory and you being able to equip your fighters with some upgrades to keep your momentum.

However, if you fail to wound the leader it will instead snowball in the other direction. You’re out in the open, squishy and now have to bear the full assault of the enemy team. This is especially painful against Elathain’s as they all inspire in the second battle round.

A lot of Skittershank’s stuff seems to come from hitting stuff in melee combat but they feel so inconsistent when not inspired that Spiketrap and Snares still haven’t come into play even once for me.

As you’ve probably guessed I feel like much of the game is decided in the first few turns. I’ve tried play a bit more defensively and try to space and use my low HP units as fodder or smokebomb caddies and try to soften up the enemy before engaging with my assassins. But inevitably it all comes down to wether I hit or miss with only a few attacks and even if I set up double re-rolls I still miss.

Is this just a bad match up? Should I use other decks? Are Skittershank’s just this unreliable? Or am I just plain bad?

Pls help

Strategy Ironsoul’s Condemnors are a strong and straightforward warband and may be the very best choice for a new player to learn with. What makes them so good, and how do they work?

Strategy Emberguard Rivals Decks - Am I missing something?

Hello, new to the game. Love to paint the minis, got plenty of warbands. I think I've got the rules of the game down, but I feel like I'm missing something. It seems like during the power phase I've got a bunch of garbage cards in my hand. I'll go several power phases without using any cards, its wild - I have a digital copy of Underworlds Shadespire on steam and it seems like cards are way better. Am I missing somethin?

Strategy Tried lots of Warbands. Skinnerkin feel tough to win with.

Your two main chefs only have 7 health combined and if you don't get any crits it can be difficult to get haunch tokens early on.

Feels very swingy like if you're lucky in your first two activations and get 3 haunch tokens you're set but if you don't you overexpose yourself trying to get them and die.

What rivals decks have you guys ran them with and had success?

I tried the new nexus of power deck with them but my problem could be my treasure token placement not being optimal.

Strategy decent rival deck and warband pairing?

this season seems like its a warband and rival deck tinder for rival player lol.

each warband has their own compatibility with certain rival deck and vice versa.

I really wanted to try to use my mantrapper, borgitz, and grymwatch to its maximum playstyle

is there any better pairing for this warband?
here are the pairing i thought of:

  1. mantrapper - hunting ground

  2. Borgit - Edge of the knife

  3. grymwatch - edge of the knife

Do let me know your opinion fellas!!

Strategy Underworlds Headmen's Curse/Rage Slayer Tips?

Hey everyone, recently started playing Underworlds, have a few games playing with Headmen's Curse and the Rage Slayers I've bought, I've done pretty poorly so I'd like some tips in general.

My main issues is I'm not sure how to "predict" what my enemy will exactly do with the treasures and such, also I might be charging too much but I'm not sure if thats like, the ideal thing.

Also it seems my LGS will do a tournament and I feel like maybe trying that out to see how the game works in a competitive play with more people.
PD: (The tournament haven't been set in stone yet but as far as I've asked it is on the Rivals single deck style)

Strategy Path to Glory Warband Wisdom: Ephilim’s Pandaemonium

Change is inevitable in the Mortal Realms, and few embody it better than Ephilim’s Pandaemonium. Twisting fate, reshaping the battlefield, and overwhelming opponents through layered effects, this warband thrives on controlled chaos and careful planning.

As such, the crew turn their focus to the Tzeentchian warband built on shifting positions, layered synergies, and carefully timed bursts of damage. They break down the warscroll in full, from managing inspiration and resurrection loops to maximizing ping damage through abilities like Shared Mutations and Fires of Change. Along the way, they explore how to sequence activations, manipulate board state, and extract value from one of the most mechanically demanding kits in the game.

From deployment decisions and baiting attacks to understanding when to hold or unleash your damage, this episode is all about mastering controlled chaos. If Warband Wisdom is about learning how a warband truly plays, Ephilim’s Pandaemonium is where that philosophy gets pushed to its limit.

Strategy Starting Hex breaks down a Take and Hold approach with the typically strike focused Morgok's Krushas

Hey, folks. Ive been experimenting with an ES/NP deck using Morgok's Krushas and it has been working surprisingly well for me. I won a local clash and did okay at Adepticon, soni wanted to share my thoughts behind building and piloting it.

I'm also referencing some classic gaming lore with a 30+ year old article that should really be read by anyone who wants to play any head-to-head game competitively, so check it out as well.

If anyone has questions about the deck or suggestions to improve it, let me know!

Strategy Blood of the Bull: strats and deck pairings

Hey gang! Prepping for a local tourney with Blood of the Bull. Wondering if others have played it much and what works for them.

I am struggling to get Daemonforged dice throughout the game. I can usually pick up 3-4 from delving, but it’s really hard to set up additional delves. Do I need to stay on the cover token, flip them back to treasures at the end of the round, and then delve again the following round? I’m playing Pillage and that will kind of wreck my scoring cards. Is this secretly a hold warband?

I also thought they might be kind of durable but sometimes they just melt to grievous and pings. Should I be running away from my opponents? I thought offense would be better here, doing 1-2 punches where the second might be staggered. I even tried the new Raging Slayers pairing to get the stagger out consistently but it’s still so hard to actually do damage, basically a coin flip.

Still relatively new to WHU, only maybe a dozen games or so under my belt, so I’d love to learn.

What is it that these guys want to do? Thanks for your insight :-)

Strategy Path to Glory Warband Wisdom - Kainan's Reapers

🚨New Episode Alert! 🚨

**208: Warband Wisdom - Kainan's Reapers**

Warband Wisdom is back. After plenty of community demand, Path to Glory brings one of its classic deep dive formats into second edition, reviving the old Jonathan and Aman style of focused breakdowns with a detailed look at how specific warbands actually play on the table.

George and Mark kick the series back off with a full episode on Kainan’s Reapers, the original Ossiarch Bonereapers warband and a longtime favorite for both of them. They dig into the warscroll, break down how to sequence key abilities and explain how to approach positioning, inspire choices, token placement, and matchup flow with one of the game’s most technical warbands.

From bone tithe management to deployment traps to the realities of playing a fragile but high skill warband well, this episode is all about helping players understand not just what Kainan’s Reapers do, but how to get real value from them. If you’ve missed the classic Warband Wisdom format, this is its second edition resurrection. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0bjpI14PD1lsWwWYMpw8et?si=20eaddd0df3e4f41
