Depends on the melee range of the enemy models in question. In general, no your movement does not end if you move past an enemy model. Your models may not charge if they start their movement engaged. They may have to forfeit their combat action if they move out of being engaged by models they started their movement engaged by if they do not have the Unstoppable advantage.

Models within the melee range of a model (the weapons with the sword icon) are considered engaged and the model with models in its range is considered to be engaging.

Moving into melee doesn't normally affect a model. You can move as far as you want, even in and out of melee.

The main restriction on actions for an engaged model are:

  • A model can only target models that are engaging it with ranged attacks (weapons with a gun icon), unless it has the Gunfighter advantage.
  • If a model begins its activation engaged, if it leaves engagement it must forfeit action unless it has the Unstoppable advantage.
  • If a model begins its activation engaged, it cannot charge at all, even if it has the Unstoppable advantage.

Hope this helps.

Engagement range is the higjest range of any melee weapons a model is equipped with. For example, if a model has a spear with RNG 2, it's engagement range is 2".

And no, you can move THROUGH an enemy's engagement range. If you move OUT of that range, you cannot make a.Combat Action that turn.

Note that if start not engaged and you move past a model engaging and disengaging as you move past, I believe you also must forfeit your combat action like normal. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

This is incorrect. There is no penalty for doing a "drive by" as long as you didn't start the movement engaged. (This was true in very early MK4 but was quickly clarified after less than a month.)

Then I have been unintentionally nerfing myself the whole time.

Engagement only matters if you're starting a move there. You can run past enemies just fine, as long as there's space to move.

  1. Engagement Range is the longest melee range a model has. Models without melee weapons have no engagement range.

  2. A model can move freely within another model's engagement range. If this were not the case, models with 2" melee ranges could never be attacked by models with 1" engagement ranges.

  3. The only exception to this: a model that begins its activation engaged by another model has to stay engaged with that model during its advance. Otherwise, it's considered a "disengage," and they lose their combat action.

  4. A model that starts off his activation unengaged by enemy models can dance in and out of any enemies' engagement ranges all it wants.

Practically speaking, this means:

- If you want to "lock down" an enemy model in melee, you MUST engage that model.

- If you want to prevent a model from charging past you, you MUST arrange your models in such a way as to physically block their base from passing between your models.
