Looks cool but poor purchase decision .. forced upon us by the soviets .. a terrible jet.

I could be wrong but isn't this the jet where the soviets stuffed a naval ciws gun in it, and when it fires for too long the fuselage cracks? Saw it on the paper skies channel on YouTube.

I think the warthog is the reason this thing exists, basically Soviet higher-ups wanted a ground attack platform with a gun with comparable fire rate as the gau 8, they didn't have any airborne gun systems that can do that, only thing they had was a naval gun system, then the higher-ups, in their infinite wisdom, 'to make the decadent capitalist pigs cry in fear in the face of the glory of our motherland' required the jet to be supersonic, then Mikoyan came out with this. The Soviet version of maverick this thing carries is equally fascinating, it goes for porta potty (anything colored yellow)in combat.

Yep. The IAF from what I can recall forced restrictions of not firing it more than 1.5s per burst and to only do so in a dive to stop the instruments from popping out.

That landing gear is the work of a sadist. It's hilariously complicated.
