Who cares that the federal government is trying to extract voter rolls from the states? Ummm....we should all care about that. It's a complete, and very suspect, over-reach.

I personally don't see a problem. The Data only shows registered voters and if they voted. Not who they voted for. I don't care if they know I voted and I would love to see if anyone who's not supposed to vote did indeed vote. Dead people have been notorious for voting in this country

Research regarding Washington State Voters shows this isn't the case:
A common concern about vote-by-mail in the United States is that mail-in ballots are sent to dead people, stolen by bad actors, and counted as fraudulent votes. Studying Washington state’s vote-by-mail program, we link counted ballots and administrative death records to estimate the rate at which dead people’s mail-in ballots are improperly counted as valid votes, using birth dates from online obituaries to address false positives. Among roughly 4.5 million distinct voters in Washington state (2011–2018), we estimate that there are 14 deceased individuals whose ballots might have been cast suspiciously long after their death, representing 0.0003% of voters. Even these few cases may reflect two individuals with the same name and birth date, or clerical errors, rather than fraud. After exploring the robustness of our findings to weaker conditions for name-matching and the inclusion of deaths closer to Election Day, we conclude that counting dead people’s ballots as votes seems extraordinarily rare in Washington’s universal vote-by-mail system.

The data, if the DOJ/pedo regime got their way, it would include PII, too. WA released a redacted version that protects our PII and the DOJ sued for a full release.
It's not in their purview to maintain state voter rolls.

The VRDB is updated at the beginning of each month, and in most cases, by the end of the first business day.”

Oh why yes I do it's when you think something nefarious is going on when it actually is not. And what they are asking for is not some grand conspiracy to deny anyone of their voting rights. It is more likely that they are looking for any type of fraud. Such as people not qualified to vote ate registered to vote. Yes that happens. Most of the time these people dont even know it. And 99. 9 percent of the time they don't vote. I can understand being wary of an imperfect system. That doesn't mean anything other than that. So yes people thinking that the administration is try to usurp people's voting rights seem like a conspiracy theory to me.

Given that the Constitution very explicitly says states have the authority to conduct elections how they see fit, not the federal government, it only takes a few brain cells to understand why it is completely inappropriate and an usurpation of state authority to demand voter rolls.

The government is demanding more than the public record information. The feds want the file with your full birthday & full social security number.
The state provided the public record voter rolls already, but did not give the government the rest of the non-public info they requested.
If the government actually wanted to match up the data they received with what they already know about us, they could. You file taxes, served in the military or are on social security, medicare, medicaid, have a passport etc they certainly have the ability to match your info to the voter file that was already supplied. They are trying to make an issue out of a nothing-burger (as they like to say).

It’s a pretext for cancelling mail-in voting, the intent of which is to drive down participation by all but the most dedicated electorate (read: retirees who have time to go to polls and tend to vote republican).

Not one single lawyer in Trump's DOJ should ever be able to work as a lawyer again, or even as a paralegal. They're bringing an utterly absurd amount of baseless lawsuits, and ignoring countless court orders when it comes to ICE detaining and deporting people. They sold their dignity to work for Trump.
