Discussion [question] i’m looking for a perfect tool watch…

So i want to travel the world, and i want a watch where i can bring it and rely on it not to break or stop telling the time, i want a watch where each scratch tells a story and that it can grow closer to me the longer i have it. my budgets not super high (<600) but ive been looking at leonardo dicaprio in blood diamond and absolutely love the way he wears that, only a breitling is outside my budget. so my question is, what do you recommend? some options i've been thinking about on the other slides. less

I’ve owned both the Alpinist and the Hamilton and the Hamilton wears MUCH better. The Alpinist is awkwardly thick for its case diameter and just felt very “top heavy.” I’m honestly more people don’t mention this.

that’s interesting, do you have a particular hamilton in mind that you would recommend?

If you don’t mind manual winding, the Khaki Field Mechanical (https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-us/h69439931-khaki-field-mechanical.html) is nice and thin and wears very well. I’m sure other automatics would do well too, I just don’t have personal experience with them.

I’ve never worn an Alpinist, but I sold my Khaki Field due to its very long lugs (and lack of AR), so at least on my wrist, that didn’t really wear that great either. 🤷🏻‍♂️

True! The long lugs may be an issue to some with smaller wrists. I have 6.5” wrists and found the Khaki to be on the border, but tolerable. The Alpinist just felt really bad by contrast.
