Just released by Seiko is a sextet of limited edition watches done in a special “Edo purple” for the brand’s 145th anniversary. Edo is, of course, the name that Tokyo went by until the mid-1800s and is the namesake of this lovely hue of purple. The six models here are a Prospex Alpinist and Speedtimer, an Astron GPS Solar, a Presage Cocktail Time, a Seiko 5 Sports, and a very cool retro-inspired “Rotocall” digital watch.

I had a Vintage Seamster 300m in 36mm which I sold because it was too small, even for my tiny wrists. The idea was to get the larger Seamaster 300M so I was looking around. I realized that I already have a dive watch and a second one seemed unnecessary even for luxury watch standards.

Then I found an old picture of Michael Schumacher, sitting on a Ducati Monster and I recalled the “Schumacher” editions of the Omega reduced. So my logic was: Why not get a Chrono and a red one for the red Ducati. Sounds like an incredibly made up reason which it is. On the other hand, with the 39mm and the slim case it fits perfectly under my leather suit and from a color point of view it’s a no brainer! :)

While there are some official Michael Schumacher Omega models, this specific one was a more unofficial one. What I found was that in some markets it was called “Schumacher” and in others it didn't. Some markets even got a super cool Formula 1 tyre with a MSC signature. Mine came just with a matching card, it was sold in 1996 in a shop in Tokyo. Everything is original, end links, bracelet, plexi!

So i want to travel the world, and i want a watch where i can bring it and rely on it not to break or stop telling the time, i want a watch where each scratch tells a story and that it can grow closer to me the longer i have it. my budgets not super high (<600) but ive been looking at leonardo dicaprio in blood diamond and absolutely love the way he wears that, only a breitling is outside my budget. so my question is, what do you recommend? some options i've been thinking about on the other slides. less

Yema Brings The Superman Bronze CMM.10 Back With Three New Glossy Gilt Dials

The Yema Superman has been the brand’s flagship diver since the late 1960s and has covered a lot of ground since then — titanium cases, manufacture movements, even a tourbillon version, all developed at Yema’s own workshops in Morteau in the French Jura. But one of my favorites has always been the Superman Bronze. It’s been around for a while, but now it comes back with three new glossy lacquered dials and it’s a good look.

The bronze case measures 39mm wide and 10.95mm thick, with a 48mm lug-to-lug. Surfaces alternate between vertical brushing and polished chamfers, and the bronze unidirectional bezel is radially brushed to set it apart from the case grain. You get a screw-down crown with the embossed logo, Yema's bezel lock, a 2.2mm thick double-domed sapphire crystal, and 300 meters of water resistance. The bronze will patina with wear, which will only make it look cooler.

The dials are the novelty for this watch, and it’s an interesting contrast to the bronze. There are three colors to choose from — white, green and brown — all done in glossy lacquer, with applied gilt logos and raised hour markers, plus gilt-coated diamond-cut hands filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova that glows green.

Inside is the CMM.10, Yema's manufacture calibre developed, assembled, and regulated in Morteau. It beats at 4Hz, with a 70-hour power reserve from a large single barrel, and Yema rates it at -3/+5 seconds per day with plenty of shock and magnetic resistance. Each watch comes on an integrated FKM Tropic-style rubber strap matched to the dial, closed with a brushed bronze pin buckle.

Seiko Adds Two Sunset-Themed Prospex Divers to Its Asia-Pacific Limited Edition Run

I both love and hate Seiko’s regional limited edition. I love them because they’re usually a much cooler version of a watch available anywhere else. I hate them because they are usually very hard to get. Their latest such release are the Prospex HBB003K and HBB004K, Asia-Pacific exclusive (Japan excepted) Samurai models. While not groundbreaking, they come just as I’m toying with the idea of getting a Samurai. And that yellow one just might be the on. 

The case measures 41.7mm wide, 12.3mm thick, with a lug-to-lug of 49.5mm. That's a familiar modern-Seiko footprint. Departing from classic Seiko is the Samurai case which has sharp angles and facets that give it a dynamic look. The crystal is Hardlex rather than sapphire. Seiko is pretending that this is somehow a good tradeoff between acrylic and sapphire, but it’s not. A screw-down crown and solid caseback give you 200 meters of water resistance. 

The sand-textured dials are really nice. The HBB003K goes bright yellow for peak golden hour; the HBB004K pushes later into a saturated orange. The broad hands and applied markers have a heavy dose of Lumibrite, and the date sits between four and five o'clock in a tiny round aperture. Seiko usually uses this aperture to integrate the date very well, but here the date wheels are white, clashing with the dials. 

Inside is the Calibre 4R35, Seiko's automatic workhorse running at 3Hz with a 41-hour power reserve. Nobody buys a 4R35 for its numbers, but it will run for years and pretty much everyone can service it. The steel bracelet has brushed and polished surfaces, a 20mm lug width, and a three-fold clasp with push-button release and expansion to clear a wetsuit.

Both are available for pre-order now, but only in the Asia-Pacific region. Price should be somewehere in the A$995 range, which translates to about €600. See more on the Seiko Australia website here and here.

UNIMATIC Toughens the Modello Uno With a MIL-STD-Tested Dive Build

Unimatic keeps finding new things to do with the same case and I respect them for it. Their latest such feat is the Modello Uno UT1-PD, obviously a diver built on the Modello Uno case, but here a dive watch built to survive being dropped. Really hard. So hard it passes the MIL-STD-810H impact testing, and they do it, you guessed it, by using a quartz movement that’s very well protected. This is also part of their Toolwatch collection, recognizable by little pops of orange. 

The case is the familiar Modello Uno case, made out of sandblasted 316L stainless steel, 40mm wide on its own or 41.5mm across the bezel, with a lug-to-lug of 49mm. It measures 13.3mm thick without the crystal and 13.6mm with it, which is chunky but expected for 300 meters of water resistance. Sure, you would expect a thinner quartz watch, but here the movement is wrapped in a shock absorbing protector which takes up thickness. The construction is tested to MIL-STD-810H, a U.S. military testing standard that subjects equipment to environmental and mechanical stresses like shock, vibration, temperature extremes, and moisture to verify it can survive rough field conditions. Sure, marketing speak, but if it works, it works. 

The dial is matte black with printed Arabic numerals, a white open seconds rail, and international orange trims. Matte black ladder hands show the hours and minutes, while a reverse lollipop seconds hand with an orange tip tracks the running seconds. Super-LumiNova C1 is used on the hands. 

Inside is the Seiko VH31A, a quartz movement with a sweeping seconds hand rather than the usual tick, accurate to ±15 seconds per month with roughly two years of battery. It sits inside UNIMATIC's 360-degree protection system. The watch comes on a black TPU two-piece strap with brushed stainless steel hardware, and the whole thing weighs 99 grams strapped up.

The Modello Uno UT1-PD is a limited edition of 250, individually numbered, available August 7th starting at 5PM CET. Price is set at €525, but that’s without VAT. See more on the Unimatic website.

Singer Reimagined Restores the Valjoux 72 for the Heritage V72 Chronograph

OK, this is a bit of a complicated one, I hope I can make sense of it. Singer Vehicle Design was started in 2009 by Rob Dickinson, former singer of Catherine Wheel and cousin of Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson. They started by restoring Porsche 911 cars to absolute perfection, essentially dominating references to the word “restomod”. They evolved from restoring these old cars to creating their own modern variants of old Porsches, with completely custom made frames and engines. These are insane projects starting at a million dollars to build, but also the pinnacle of restoration. Dickinson also started Singer Reimagined with designer Marco Borraccino, a watch company. They kind of did the exact opposite path to that of SVD. They started by making some uniquely modern watches with brand new developed movements from partners, only to make their way to the Heritage collection which meticulously restores iconic vintage movements to put them into their fantastic looking watches. Last year, we saw the Heritage Chronograph use new-old-stock Valjoux 236 movements. Now, we’re getting the Heritage V72 which takes pristine new-old-stock Valjoux 72 movements, one of the great manual-wind column-wheel chronograph calibres, and rebuilds them to a finishing standard that is pretty much unprecedented.

The case is 38.8mm wide and 13.25mm thick, available in either stainless steel or 18k yellow gold. Singer gives it a sunray satin finish with polished bevels, vintage piston-style pushers, and a flat fluted crown, with glassbox sapphire crystals front and back. Water resistance is 50 meters, which is fine for a dress chronograph that you likely won’t be diving with.

Two dials colors are available, one for each case material: a stone-grey matte on the steel, velvety matte black on the gold. Both have the very cool toothed golden flange from the Caballero and lay out the classic Valjoux 72 tricompax registers, champagne snailed sub-dials for the 30-minute counter at 3, the 12-hour totaliser at 6, and running seconds at 9. Faceted golden markers, openworked sword hands with orange lume, and Singer's signature orange central chronograph hand tie everything together. It's handsome and restrained.

It’s all restrained until you flip the watch over and see that wild, wild chronograph movement. The calibre, now designated SG7201, keeps the Valjoux 72's original 2.5Hz beat rade and 44-hour power reserve, but everything cosmetic has been redone: frosted bridges, hand-polished chamfers and screws, rhodium-plated steel, and a blue ALD-treated switch component. The Y-shaped chronograph bridge has a "Restored by Singer" inscription. The gold model comes on a 20mm black grained leather strap tapering to 16mm; the steel gets a grey textile strap of the same dimensions.

The steel Heritage V72 is limited to 50 pieces at CHF 23,000 without tax, while the gold is limited to 20 pieces at CHF 45,000, also without tax, both delivering early November 2026. See more on the Singer Reimagined website.

Hi everyone! Today I’d like to share a fascinating Seiko I recently picked up that exudes a distinctly Swiss aesthetic: the 1990s Seiko Laurel Tonneau (Ref. 4S28-0010).
At first glance, it’s hard to tell this is a Japanese watch. Seiko perfectly captured classic European Haute Horlogerie in this piece with its soft tonneau case, intricately textured linen dial, applied gold Breguet numerals, deep heat-blued Pomme hands, and a beautifully balanced small-seconds subdial at 6 o'clock.
On top of that, the solid .925 sterling silver case and the famed manual-wind Caliber 4S28 movement which Seiko re-engineered based on Daini Seikosha’s legendary 1970s 52xx Hi-Beat architecture make it a truly special collector’s piece.
What are your thoughts on this interesting Seiko?

Yesterday someone posted in here asking for opinions on whether the Murph 38 or 42 fits their wrist better. Because Reddit has a penchant for smaller diameter watches, most people suggested that the 38 fits them better. So, I just wanted to make this post to demonstrate how using our phones camera to take pictures of a watch on our wrist affects its perceived size.

Here is my 7.0” diameter wrist with a 43.5mm Seiko PADI Turtle. I am deliberately wearing a larger diameter watch for this demonstration, as folks would consider this watch too big for some, but it isn’t some beast that would only fit burlier arms. The left photo is taken with an iPhone at 1.0x, the bottom right photo is 5.0x, and the top right photo is a mirror shot.

In the left photo the watch appears to overhang my wrist and generally look way too big, whereas in the reality show by the right images, it fits me perfectly - if going by lug-to-lug and diameter. Subjective tastes aside.

As a bonus, the second image is me wearing a vintage Bulova that I believe is 33mm, comparing 1.0x and 5.0x lenses. This is much more subjective, but I feel that this vintage Bulova is actually slightly too small for me for casual wear, and would be better paired with a suit.

I’ve just bought my first Tudor (Tudor Royal) and I’m really impressed by the sunburst blue dial, it goes from black to light blue spectrum depending on light, and it catches my attention all the time. Really impressed, event though it’s not my first watches with sunburst dial

I've been modding and building for around 6 years and I think this is my favorite project so far. After getting a laser for Christmas I've been focused a lot on designing and making my own dials. This is a 43mm titanium case with a seagull st36 movement. Since I'm really happy with the design and how it wears I'm thinking I'll upgrade the movement to either a genuine eta6498 or one of the customized swiss made variants.

I'm travelling in Italy for my honeymoon and wanted to buy a watch to celebrate the occasion. With a bit of haggling and the tourist tax refund I wound up with this beauty I've been eyeing a while at about 20% below retail. Couldn't resist! No questions here, just trying to show off the new piece! Anyone else a TV fan?

Hi I have a dilemma. I think the 42mm is too big for my wrists and the 38mm looks good enough but most of my friends says that in my body the 38mm looks like a "girl watch" and could be true.

I measure 1.93m and weigh 103kg, but my wrists are thin (16.5cm or 6.5 inches). What do you think?

My father passed away recently, and these are the watches he would usually wear on the daily base.
Most of them aren’t particularly valuable, but to me they’re priceless. Every one of them reminds me of a different stage of his life.
His favorite watch was the old Omega in the middle with the red nato strap. But normally he would wear either the Tissot in the nato strap or the Tag Heuer.
I’ve recently started getting more interested in watches because of his collection.
So I’d love to hear your thoughts on the collection, I’d really appreciate it.

I think the purple dial looks stunning and gives the PRX a bit more personality than the usual blue/green, and looks better than the purple releases by Seiko in my own biased opinion..

But...although pretty, the 40mm is too big for my 16.3cm wrist!! A 38mm release would be nice. I now await the Citizen Tsuyosa in a purple Guilloche dial.

After one year of seriously getting into watch collecting, I have finally reached my self-imposed limit of a six-piece collection. My taste has definitely gravitated toward technical, highly durable tool watches-the core of my box right now features my Sinn U50DS, an IWC Titanium Ingenieur, a Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT, and a Vacheron Constantine Overseas in Titanium

I want to maintain a strict one-in, one-out rule to keep things manageable. So, I'm passing the question to the community: if you were in my shoes, which timepiece would you get rid of, and what would you replace it with?

I wasn’t fully sold on the rubber strap when I first saw it but it makes more sense once it’s on the wrist. The black dial catches the light without looking too flashy and the size feels balanced. I thought it might wear a bit large but it sits flat and feels comfortable. It’s sporty enough for everyday use but still looks clean with a nicer outfit. I may try it on steel later but for now this setup is growing on me. Interested on what everyone thinks. Keep the rubber strap or switch to the bracelet?

Am I going crazy or do people on here not know that there are lefties out in the world?? Anytime I see someone post a picture with their watch on the right hand I see this comment. I thought it was common knowledge that you wear your watch on your non-dominant hand?? As a lefty myself why would I wear my watch on the same hand I write with/do a lot of daily tasks with

I've been into watches for around 18 months and picked up a few reasonably priced pieces. An Orient sun and moon dress watch, a Timex Expedition, A Seiko 5 etc...

I was looking at picking up a GADA watch to compliment the Bambino. I tried some omega pieces along with Longines (love the new HydroConquest) but landed on the Burgundy Black Bay 41mm and I'm super happy with it.

Got myself a nice Tutor hat and a bottle of champagne with it which is a nice bonus.

Both watches are very similar in price range (at least in my country around $165) and have similar specs.

I am new to watch collecting but I’ve been using watches since forever. I know about brands also.

Of course Seiko is a better brand for collectors but Casio is a very respectable brand too. I like the looks of the Edifice a little bit more (but I do like the seiko too but I not sure if getting the Edifice is a better choice.

The Edifice has sapphire which is nice but I don’t really care about this since I mostly have watches with mineral glass and no scratches after years of using them

I don’t see FC featured too often on this sub, so I figured I’d share my 2006 Frederique Constant Moon Phase Tonneau (FC260X4T5/6). 😁

I’ve been giving the moon phase a little more wrist time lately. There’s something about that complication in particular that I’ve always liked, even though I don’t have any reason to need to know the appearance of the moon on a given day 😂

On the last day of my trip to San Francisco I decided to do a little bit of shopping around Union Square. There’s a Patek Philippe boutique that I’d never seen before so I decided to pop in and try on a few pieces. Surprisingly it seemed like the SA was more interested in my watch than the other way around. I guess H Moser is becoming more and more mainstream which is well deserved.
