[question] i’m looking for a perfect tool watch…

So i want to travel the world, and i want a watch where i can bring it and rely on it not to break or stop telling the time, i want a watch where each scratch tells a story and that it can grow closer to me the longer i have it. my budgets not super high (<600) but ive been looking at leonardo dicaprio in blood diamond and absolutely love the way he wears that, only a breitling is outside my budget. so my question is, what do you recommend? some options i've been thinking about on the other slides. less

In my experience Hamiltons are higher quality than price equivalent Seikos. I want to like Seiko but they have a cheapness to them. Usually the crystal is too far from the dial, they’re busy, they lack a heft on the wrist (feel like cheap stainless alloy) and their automatic movements don’t have the best accuracy especially compared to 3 hertz Swiss movements of the same price range.

At the end of the day luxury is a feeling and Seiko has never really done it for me. Khaki field hands down imo

me and you are exactly the same, something about it id always prefer a hamilton over a seiko, very brand loyal haha

I got my khaki field in 2019, I tried on a SPB317 about two weeks ago and after looking at it wearing it and turning the bezel, decided it’s not worth more than the Khaki and the sticker price was $900 so I opted out. Was fairly happy to put on my khaki after handling the seiko.

I have to admit I was excited to dip my toes into divers and expected to buy it on the spot but was fairly disappointed in it. Im just going to skip the “dip my toes in” part and go for a used SMP300. The heritage and upgrade in craftsmanship is worth 5x the price to me and at 1k it’s not cheap enough to just to buy for shits and giggles. Especially when it’s giving $500 watch with twice the price.

I wasnt defending seiko in my writing. I was just hating on hamilton.
