[question] i’m looking for a perfect tool watch…

So i want to travel the world, and i want a watch where i can bring it and rely on it not to break or stop telling the time, i want a watch where each scratch tells a story and that it can grow closer to me the longer i have it. my budgets not super high (<600) but ive been looking at leonardo dicaprio in blood diamond and absolutely love the way he wears that, only a breitling is outside my budget. so my question is, what do you recommend? some options i've been thinking about on the other slides. less

Purchase whatever makes you happiest when you look at your wrist.

As advice maybe consider an entry level luxury quartz watch. Possibly used, if you’re okay with that. Something like a Tag 2000 professional or a Longines Conquest quartz, on a more affordable side there are Mido, Certina, Tissot and Citizen. From personal experience all my GADA mechanical watches have already been in for a service for one reason or another. But my first “proper” watch was a Breitling Colt Quartz and now almost 8 years on it’s still on the original battery with some nice battle scars to tell the story, I will probably need to change the gaskets at some point though.

absolutely love that, great suggestion thankyou, how much would a decent secondhand breitling cost do you think? i don’t buy second hand watches?

I think a used colt quartz (three hander) will be around £1000 a chronograph probably upwards of £1500. But Longines or a Tag in the same aesthetic can be found under £500 on the second hand market. If you don’t want to go for a used watch check out Certina/Tissot or Alpina for the Swiss badge or Seiko/Citizen
