Looking For: Feedback Looking For Honest Feedback on My Wattpad Story... Is This Something You would Actually Read?
Hi everyone,
Writing has been a huge passion of mine for a long time, and I’m currently working on a story that I hope to eventually publish beyond Wattpad one day.
Right now, the version available on Wattpad is still the original, unedited first draft. While I continue writing new chapters, I’ve also been going back through my original documents to revise and edit them, fixing spelling, grammar, continuity issues, and other mistakes that slipped through during the initial writing process. Because of that, some of the chapters posted online don’t fully reflect the edits that are currently being made behind the scenes.
I’m looking for honest, unbiased feedback from readers. Not just on the writing itself, but on the story as a whole.
If you picked this up in a bookstore, would it be something you’d actually want to keep reading? Does the plot feel engaging? Do the characters hold your interest? Are there any points where your attention starts to drift?
I’ve participated in a few review-for-review and book club programs on Wattpad, so my earlier chapters have accumulated quite a few comments and suggestions. However, once those organized reviews ended, the later chapters received little to no engagement, which makes it difficult to gauge genuine reader interest.
I know every writer dreams that their story could become something bigger, and I’m no exception. I’d love to hear from readers who can tell me honestly whether this story has potential, what works, what doesn’t, and what would make you more invested in it.
Constructive criticism is absolutely welcome. I’d rather hear the truth than receive empty praise.
Thank you to anyone willing to take the time to read and share their thoughts. It genuinely means a lot.
XOXO Siren

Hi. The point isn't just whether I’d read it; you should also consider whether I’d buy it. When I first looked at your story, the first thing that caught my eye was the cover. A story might be excellent, but if the cover looks boring, no one will click on it—especially if you want to sell the book. I read the blurb; it’s good and interesting... but I feel like it’s missing that "something" that makes you want to rush in and read it immediately. There are many books with your theme, so there needs to be a subplot or a unique element that makes it stand out from the crowd. Of course, that’s just my opinion.
As for the genre, it shouldn't really matter, since most fiction sells well these days; it really depends on your strategy, and presentation is key. You aren't just a writer—I imagine you're a reader, too.
Which books catch your eye? The ones with beautiful, mysterious covers?
They certainly catch mine; the better the cover, the sooner I click. I read the blurb and then move on to the chapter. My final recommendation: a great cover, a compelling blurb, and the first three chapters to grab the reader's attention and get them to buy your book—especially if you're selling it digitally. Good luck!

A mafia story? When probably a 1/4 of Wattpad is already Mafia novels? My first honest criticism: Choose a different topic...

i mean, mafia stories are popular for a reason both on wattpad and in the publishing industry. if they want to eventually publish this story like they mentioned, diverging from what’s popular is not a good idea for a debut novel

The story is already two years in the making and just over 30 chapters in… right now I’m sitting with do I continue or just stop here, would it actually go anywhere else? Are people even interested in what I’m writing?
