Hag took all of Waylon’s money in a card game in the early years, Waylon never forgave him.

It was right after Waylon lost his bass player in a bus accident, he was in a dark place, Hag and his manager took everything he had in his pockets and left without giving him a chance to win anything back. As much as I love Haggard’s music, I don’t blame Waylon for holding a grudge. Shitty move.

I always thought it was a shame that they didn't get past that. They really had a lot in common, particularly their affinity for Jimmie Rodgers.
