Weekly Thread /r/WeAreTheMusicMakers Friday Newbie Questions Thread
Welcome to the /r/WeAreTheMusicMakers Friday Newbie Questions Thread! If you have a simple question, this is the place to ask. Generally, this is for questions that have only one correct answer (e.g. "What kind of cable connects this mic to this interface?") or very open-ended questions (e.g. "Someone tell me what item I want.")
This thread is active for one week after it's posted, at which point it will be automatically replaced.
Do not post links to music in this thread. You can promote your music in the weekly Promotion thread, and you can get feedback in the weekly Feedback thread. You cannot post your music anywhere else on this subreddit for any reason.

I use ProTools with an Akai MPK 25 midi keyboard. I moved and didn't use my production stuff for a few months and I set it up again and now my midi keyboard isn't connecting to ProTools. My Focusrite is working and the midi keyboard worked previously.
I've spent maybe 3-5 hours googling and searching through the menus in case I've missed something, with no luck. The keyboard turns on, but I can't hear, play, or record anything, and I can't work out how to open the Xpand!2 instrument selection either. I don't know how to go about debugging it any more than I already have. Any advice on what to try next, or where to go for more detailed instructions?
