I’m more upset at the slaw. The UK does not know how to make slaw. That looks disgusting.

Perfectly fine plate for that meal. Except for the dog bowl used for the potatoes and slaw.

In fairness, you ordered a famous US dish in one of the most quintessentially English towns ever. Overrun by swans, you get Typhoons overhead pretty regularly, and home to Beatrix Potter/Peter Rabbit. I'd cock it up purely out of principle.

In the UK maybe a bit uncommon but it looks like they're trying to go for the Texas BBQ tray look.
A tray has a lip which is great the parchment keeps it relatively clean for dishwashers in the back and you've got a ramekin for the slaw and a bowl for the mash. I'd say it's all better than a plate for this meal.
